well it's a lathe wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxN9zrzkkhnjUF5PQbuA_B1gYdsfCu9k6z but it wasn't what i would have anticipated Headstock, tailstock, carriage apron are manufactured from aluminum now not cast iron The spindle diameter for the bearings is too small allowing for a few play in the spindle so I am using some blue Loctite to take out the play

ALRIGHT BRO I just checked out the price of the Mini Lathe from PROXXON? 1,500 EUROS That's expensive but it's rom the AUK brand makers Axminster UK TOOLS They sell other brands too brI really like the Yellow Lathe I couldn't catch the name but I'm going to watch this video again bcos I'm interested in buying a lathe but I don't want to get ripped off brSo u honestly picked the Proxxon as the best?? Terrible video The user apparently knows little about either lathe safety or operation None of the tests that were shown prove anything about these lathe's capability Depending on what your needs are, they can all be setup to produce precision parts Personally, the older Emco lathe would be the one I would want in my shop, but they are much harder to find than the other two that were shown

Brings back old shop memories, leaving a chuck key in was a major transgression I remember South Bend Lathes being advertised in Popular Mechanics for home shops Back in the day guys just knew how to work with their hands and make stuff Now they just sit around with their smart phones

Just a suggestion for anyone getting a mini-lathe with the sheet metal backsplash on it This doesn't really scale down well from a larger lathe and makes it difficult to work around the chuck, clean, and so forth It can make thing less crowded and open things up to just remove it If you absolutely must have a backsplash, you can fashion one that is free standing and even movable and place it a little further back from the lathe

Notice how he left the chuck key in the chuck at least once VERY dangerous The way to avoid that is to get in the habit of never taking your hand off the chuck key - ever - when the key is still in the chuck You only remove your hand if the key is loose from the chuck If the lathe is started with the key still in the chuck, bad things can happen (In some machine shops it is a firing offense to violate that safety practice)
