You don't get as much $ back when selling generic bullion compared to sovereign coins, or so i was told by a friend/coin vet He said that companies or comex- whoever buys bulk silver from dealers to re-melt & supply govt mints for coinage, apparently they don't like generic bullion It frequently has impurities that aren't acceptable by those minting numismatic bullion/coinage It creates extra work & costs more to process, or this was the basic reason i was given Im still new to this & not sure that thats the fact, but it came from an honest source So i dabble in all of it, & lately i been buying Perth Roo bars They might only be bullion, but not being minted by a private mint matters for some reason, although i cant place what that reason is lol Diversification is my strategy Pre-65 US, Maples, Roos & Brits seem like good investments so I focus mostly on them

I buy junk bulliongot lots of unmarked silver, proof silver coin no silver markingssometimes they won't except some of my silver at the pawn shopbut the pawn shop is owned by the coin dealer so there really is no problemif I ever have a real problem, I will melt it all, have it purity tested and stamp 999 on it

Most of us have shared experiences staarting our collections Looking at my 800oz i see how everything in this video is 100 correct My advice to a starter stacker is start with buffalos and move on to sovereign coins like ASE, Brittanias, Maples Premiums have come down so much theyre almost tge same price as rounds Good luck stacking

I've gone to stacking constitutional silver lately due to possible confiscation of bullion issues in the future ( you never know) Dimes (BU) in rolls and peace dollars (AU) The Dimes for the immediate recognition point and BU so the other person knows "it's all there" Dimes for fractional silver

Because of the premium structure, 100 dollars of silver purchased at + spot can only be sold at - spot 70 - 75 it is hard to have a stacking stratege !

While I have around 10 tubes of eagles (I bought them during a price dip), I prefer rounds or bars because I don’t want the sentimental attachment you brought up I have no intentions of selling any time soon, but shit happens In that situation, I’d feel much better selling some of my cheap ass rounds The LCS will pay me the same for either anyway So why pay $5-10 spots on something meant for emergencies? That said, coins will appreciate in value over time if you sell them on eBay

If you sale on eBay you have to pay other fees there fore you have to sale at a lot higher price to get what you have in that round or coin Say what you will I have been on eBay for over 20 years, postage and handling, eBay fees, credit card fees, pay-pal fees, and time Your time is worth something A lot to think about

I only buy 90 constitutional for two reasonsbr1 You never have to question the purity (the us mint has high quality control standards)br2 In the unlikely event that silver price drops to zero you will still hold the face value of your stack and not lose your ENTIRE investment (Can you take a generic buffalo round to the bank and cash it in??)

My wife and I started stacking during COVID just to protect our hard-earned wages and to slow up putting as much into our 401ks We bought a little of everything 1 oz 5 oz 10 oz bars, lots of 1 oz rounds, probably about 5 were eagles, but lately past 6 months every time silver eagles go down in premiums somewhere around $29 we stack as many as we can Going forward It's going to be nothing but real currency mainly eagles but I will try some silver coins from other countries I'm not opposed to that I don't know if we are right or wrong but we like our philosophy works for us

I'm a doomsday stacker and new to stacking having started in May Since I needed to use fiat currency that was just sitting in the bank, I started stacking gold, scoffing at silver's higher premium Now I'm at about 33 silver Of my silver stack, 100 are generic rounds, more than half that Buffalos, the rest are a mix In my view if SHTF an ounce of silver will be an ounce of silver regardless 90 silver is just too high in premium and in a barter for food situation I'm likely to receive change in 90 anyways I'm just too thrifty to spend more per ounce than I have to Love to stack 10 oz bars, but the rounds are cheaperbrbrAPMEX is a bit higher priced, but they ship fast and their Bullion Credit Card is hard to beat Well worth getting if you buy online, even just for their welcome bonus and 0 APR They charge 4 for CC buys, but their Bullion Card gives cash back of 4 in the form of future purchases So as an example you buy 1,500 to get the 150 welcome bonus and the 60 4 back Currently 56 Buffalo rounds 1507 with 150+60 gives you 210 bucks back almost 8 rounds more (528 additional) So 64 rounds with 1512 spend puts you at 2363 per round I didn't buy silver as my initial Bullion Card purchase, I bought 1 oz of gold and ended up @ 80 below Spot

I think it's important to have a good balance between coins and rounds I personally have more coins, but it's because I got them for $250 over spot and bought what my LCS had remaining in stock (The why is another story) When SHTF the most important supplies or services should be bartered for with coins, if the "merchant" doesn't first accept rounds in trade What I do to somewhat make both coins and rounds meet in the middleI purchase the Walking Liberty rounds and The Buffalos of the same, because they both reflect that they're "American" and are still recognizable, but are really just missing the dollar amount You spend a little more than you would on the typical rounds, but a lot less than you would on the sovereigns The older generations and people that have done their research know where the true value is in both

Stack what you like to stack but as a stacker for well about 15 years, I'll tell you generics are extremely easy to offload and you can get much more for much less I'll take generics all day long It depends if you're in the numi or bullion market and what your goals are
