Really quick tip for saving any stalk veggies from going bad: cut a piece off the end and set in water in the fridge Keeps it fresh a long time I do this constantly with brocolli and asparagus I've literally had brocolli last almost 3 weeks by slicing off a bit of the stalk periodically and changing the water it sits in:) Comment from : LifeMyWay |

I have scanned over $3,000 worth of receipts into fetch and still haven't even gotten enough points to earn a $10 gift card 🤷♀️ I gave it a try! I don't like my purchases being tracked if it's not going to benefit me Lot of uncertainty in the world right now and telling a tech company how much food I have in my house? Not the right choice if we end up going to war I used to think that preppers were paranoid but they are making a lot of points now so I'll stock my pantry and tell no one 🤷♀️ I'm switching to cash only once I move too Comment from : Jenny Timelord |

Go buy the Rotisserie chickens the next day after they cool, they'll be half price and anyone on Food Stamps can buy them too, you can make all kinds of chicken meals with them to freeze and serve later, chicken pot pies, chicken fajita's, enchilada's, chicken salad, chicken soup, anything, and use those bones for bone broth too! Carli Wells made a very nutritious soup with all kinds of veggies and organic chicken You can store it in the freezer in single serving containers or in family size for later use or giving away when people are sick Ikea sells glass reusable freezer containers in various sizes If your giving the soup or stew away, you can transfer it to a plastic container Freeze leftover carrots, I never peel my carrots, just wash with a brush, celery, I use the whole celery stalk and leaves too, onions, corn cobs, scallions, just cut the roots off and use the whole scallion, leeks too can be added in winter, sweet potatoes, onion peels, as long as they're clean, to use in soups and stews I hope this helps someone God bless you snd your family Comment from : Grand Catsmama |

I use to do massive shops thinking less trips to the grocery store will save money but for me it doesn't There might be food that is uneaten and thrown away There's also things I will stock up on just because I think it might help me get through but wasn't needed I felt like sometimes I ate more with more foods Infront of me to So now I do small shops and if I need to go back I'll go back if I need something Comment from : April Kristel |

MILK !!!! Buy milk that's close to expiry for less than half price- put some of it into jars (only fill 3/4 of jar) and freeze them - so the gallon of milk won't expire before it's used up Forgot to take out the frozen milk in the morning and no time to wait for it to thaw? If you use wide-mouth jars, you can scrape out the frozen milk and use it Or fill some milk in an ice cube tray-- and throw a frozen milk cube in your coffee(I store the milk cubes in a ziplock bag in the freezer) I just can't resist marked down "expired" milk-- can't even remember when I last bought milk at full price Comment from : T V |
|
Mr French on Family Affair (sitcom 1966-1971) taught me to never chop lettuce with a knife Year it instead Of course, if you’re about to eat it now - I say chopping is fine I buy family packs of meat and divide them I watch the prices to find the best deals I’ve also switched to some store brand products to save some money I’ve been experimenting, Comment from : Ginger Rogers |

I wash lettuce and put it in an airtight container and it lasts weeks Same with fresh soft herbs like parsley (I put a little water in the bottom so it’s in a herb bath) I don’t take plastic bags at the store - either pick them up loose or bring my own bags for smaller produce like mushrooms or chilli peppers Less waste and forces me to store them properly rather than just dump the bags in Comment from : Annie Streater |
