I'm currently getting charged just 250 pesos on each withdrawal at an ATM with Charles Schwab and get those fees back at the end of each statement Plus I get the current exchange rate Unlike Wells Fargo that always takes 1 peso per dollar when I transfer to BDO

I retreated back to the USA in 2019 when the pandemic was just getting started But I left my Charles Schwab ATM with my GF in Cebu City I load it up in USA with cash and she withdraws in Cebu saving me transfer fees

Had a CS brokerage and high yield checking account all set up before my move to PI When I informed CS that I was moving overseas, they said I could not permanently reside overseas and maintain those accounts Good for those who travel but not permanently residing outside the US

Charles Schwab is an American bank so it’s pretty much safe Closing your account with BDO philippines was a wise move There are a lot of issues people have with BDO including losing some money from their account, my nephew is one of them and their customer service were not willing to help resolve the problem, so never again will I open an account with Banco De Oro

Can't wait to get my Charles Schwab debit card but in my case it might take another year or so Charles Schwab bought out Ameritrade brokerage which I have an account there If I change over myself without waiting, I would have to change account numbers and I would lose all my history/data/past transactions So I will wait for the transition to Charles Schwab sometime in the future I figure that the CS debit card would save me about $500 a year in fees and exchange rate differences Great decision on your part to get a CS debit card

When using it as a debit card for purchases in Philippines, just need to remember it won’t work if there is any kind of network outage or computer problem anywhere along the way Which in Philippines happens about 60 of the time Except during rainy season, when it’s worse 🤦🏼‍♂️

I have a Schwab High Yield savings account and have used it in several countries to withdraw cash from ATMs Good rate and ATM fees are refunded at the end of the month Saves me about $100 per year in ATM fees I have a Fidelity account as well

Make sure you keep some money in the CS checking account and conduct at least one transaction every 6 months otherwise they will close it without warning If performing ACH transfers into CS, it takes 3-5 business days before you can access the money so plan accordingly

It works like a ChampI used it in the Phills last time I was thereno fees and I was able to get like $500 at a time mostly You can get a Savings Debit card account that pays interest also
