I think this is a prime example of not only what effect marketing has on us, but also in how badly Johnnie Walker has dropped the ball with their Blue lineit used to be legendary, and now it's just expensive shit Comment from : AJ vs Everything |
Amazed Red was so far up their list Its my least favourite Walker and I only ever use it as a mixer but to be fair thats what its sold as! Comment from : Chris Kay |

I prefer sweetness over smoke/peat so the Blue and Double Black dropped a little bit for me My order would be 18, Green, Gold, Blue, Black and Double Black I haven't tried the Red but I might like the medicinal taste Comment from : Joe Jones |
Even though it's the only one I've had, Black Label is my favorite Johnnie Walker scotch Comment from : IcySlavKat |

I also like the Green Surprised me actually-- little bit of smoke I've drunk gallons of the red Black never impressed me Never went for the blue because its ridiculously expensive and the only people I know who drink it are posers Comment from : Michael Lacy |
Johnnie Walker has great marketing (I live in an area where the legal drinking age is 18 rather than 21), all my friends used to say it was their favorite until they tried something new and now only a few of my friends still buy it Comment from : John Andrew Serrano Garcia |
Johny Red is by far the worse liquor I've ever tasted Comment from : James McLawhorn |
Can you guys help me decide between JW black 12 year and Chivas Regal 12 year? You mentioned Chivas 12 was a step up from Monkey Shoulder and I know you guys speak pretty highly of MS Does that make Chivas 12 better than JW black? To my palate they are similar in quality, one smokier one more of a speyside, both have hint of grain bitterness Comment from : A Stang |
This is the way to do a whisky test I totally agree on Platinum (favorite), Green (my third favorite), Gold (my second one) and Blue (not my liking at all) but I would have pushed up Double Black above Red and as well Black above Red but hey, maybe I do a blind test myself as I have all the bottles to see if I still agree with myself Comment from : Divedown25 |
WOW!!! Breonna has come a LONG way in her tasting adventures I still remember her first few tasting vidsand this is a complete 180 from those She actually enjoys it now I love the Fellas, but she puts all the vids over the top LOVE IT!!! Comment from : Josh Taylor |
I've tried red, black, green and gold and also thought green was the best of them, now I want to try platinum as you had pretty much the same opinion about the other 4 as I did black was the worst and green the best for me Comment from : la haya |

This just confirms that some people waste money on overpriced whisk(e)y and marketing is mostly BS Comment from : Adam Keele |
I tell everybody that Blue is like drinking water Not worth it My favorites are Gold (I saved the golden limited edition bottle) and Green Comment from : Kwang Oh |
That was so interesting to see for me as I really enjoy JW and always return to it after a few single malts The only surprise to me really was that the red label ended up so high, however the explanation made total sense Green and platinum also are my two favorites And blue is not a surprise at all I had the exact same feeling the one time I tried it Since I felt like I became a fan of JW I wanted to experience what the "top of the line" tastes like and got myself a small bottle And it was an utter disappointment Not because it would be bad, but it was not as good as green and platinum and waaaay too expensive for what it delivered Comment from : Flomotion8000 |
Is there an idea to do this with other brands? Old Forester might be a fun lineup for blind testing Comment from : OneImperfectSaint |
Wow, lots o' surprises there! I love DB, so kind of shocked it did so badly with the crew Have had regular Black & Red, and like Black but thought Red was awfulbrNever had Blue, but obviously shocked based upon the price and reputation Comment from : Jay Kay |

Im kinda of the mind that Black Label is exclusively for the few cocktails that include scotch The sweetness helps and the unpleasant notes in it tend to get masked But its pretty unpleasant straight Comment from : XOXONAOTCHAN _ |
I feel like way back in the day, it was decided that JW Blue with seltzer or tonic took it to way better levels Comment from : Benjamin Ross |
OMG!!! Thank you!! So glad you guys are doing more videos like this! It’s so helpful to have a good suggestion on which bottle to try from a big brand’s line up You’re all awesome Comment from : Jacob Crane |
I really got into whiskey after doing a Johnnie walker tasting I bought a gold label and a talisker dark storm that was there I love the green label and feel like it is one of their best renditions with a intersting flavor profile! Comment from : Brendan Boyson |
The background music is not good it dose not feel like I'm watching brwhiskey trribebrWhy? Comment from : Genesis |
absolutly no way red label is better than black, double black or blue!! Guess yanks simply dont understand scotch!! Walker themsleves market the red as a mixer cocktail whiskey!! Comment from : Chris Kay |
I hope this convinces 1 person to stop buying blue label Buy a red label and set $200 on fire instead Comment from : Jimmy Leg |

Blind tastings are the absolute best Reveal what you actually like without marketing bias I also much prefer Red to Black for the same reasons Daniel mentioned, much more character and interesting Green and Blue are also excellent and i'll always have a Green in the collection, never had the 18 but some day Hey guys, please do a blind tasting of Dewars 12, Grand Old Par 12, Buchannan's 12, and Chivas 12! For a curve ball throw in Red label, Dewars White, and J&B or Cutty Sark while you're at it! Comment from : EuropaWill |
To be honest, in my opinion red label is the worst whiskey I ever tasted The only bottle I would rather pour in the drain than drinking it Comment from : DaanScheppingen |
Double black hands down Comment from : Simmo |
i would love to see the same thing with compass box are they worth the price? or are we distracted by the labels and limited releases? Comment from : Andrew Filsinger |
Red is garbage I tried to save it with coke but it just ruined the coke One of the rare liquors of any type that I had to flushbrbrEveryone I talk to says the black is better than the blue Personally, I am shocked how much I like the blue Gold and platinum were better than black but not worth the money Never had green I will have to try it Comment from : Avehein |
If Ian is gun Jesus and Brandon is AK Jesus and Paul is Irish Jesus the Rex is whiskey Jesus Comment from : Stealthi Master |
I'm shook 5:41 Comment from : John Stuart |
I’m not surprised that JW blue is lackluster, but I am surprised that it performed worse than Red! My dad is a big JW fan and he always shits on the red but loves the blue and black Comment from : David Pugliese |

I once held a $240,000 USD bottle of Johnny Walker I hope it was made from actual teardrops of every Pope in the last 50 years Comment from : Christiån Kirkenes |
The best review of JW Blue I've ever read was one sentence: "Johnnie Walker Blue is the whisky for people with more money than taste" I'd take Green, Gold, or Platinum over it any day of the week Comment from : James King |
Briana is a psychopath and I love it Comment from : Brad Barmherzig |

They are influencing each other Comment from : Brett Hebert |

The subtly disturbing flavor of band aids Comment from : RedInTheSky |
people who like blue label only say it to seem fancy and cool and they never are Comment from : robert bourgoine |
My favorite is the OG gold 18 year (not the reserve they had for this one), followed closely by the platinum The blue was smooth but not really enjoyable for me, so I can see why they put it so far back The gold reserve is not nearly as good as the og Gold, but I agree on middle of the pack The black I used to use for mixed drinks when I first started, would probably find it tough to go back to Didn't really care for green, it was to peaty for my taste Comment from : Robert Ellis |
Music needs to go Comment from : Jack Bandit |
Green is my favorite as well :) Comment from : Chris DiMascola |
I tasted the Double Black when it first came out and it had some really nice Bourbon notes, both on the nosing and the "mouthing" I rebought a bottle a few years later and either my flavor profile changed or it did It lost almost everything and the finish was terrible I've never been a fan of the Blue label, it didn't match my flavor profile at all I will have to try the Green and Platinum now though For research purposes!! Comment from : manicallyhappy |
I still feel Red Label is a very good whisky bfor the price/b and considering how widely available it is Totally happy to drink it neat if out at a bar somewhere and not trying to run up a tab May not be the most exciting but no off flavours that bother me either, just goes down easy And frankly I'll take it over the Black any time given it's half the price here Comment from : MARSEN SOUND |
Daniel admitted to “mouthing” the D 🤣 Comment from : Armando Martinez III |
❤Breana❤ Comment from : Night Rider |
I’ve had so many people side-eye me when I tell them I prefer Red Label to Black Label Thank you for validating me!😂 Gonna have to try Green, Gold, and Platinum sometime! Comment from : Devon Trouten |
Blue is definitely boring Comment from : Jamie B |
A quick question I can't seem to find an answer for Once you decant a whisky, Rum or brandy from the wood cask, does it still continue to to age and change its flavor & nose? Comment from : Sgt Fon |
J W XR21 and JW swing Comment from : Lashing sphere |
