I have purchased Bacardi 175 liter bottles at Costco for $999 Comment from : Jim Klemens |
There are so many rums and I have so little shelf-space So many I haven't had a chance to try yet but I can make all the rum cocktails I need with three rums For Daiquiri's and Piña Coladas I use Plantation 3 Stars For dark Tiki drinks like Mai Tais, Jungle Birds, and Painkillers I usually do a 50/50 mix of Appleton Estate 12 and Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Comment from : LR Vogt |
When will Americans pronounce Bacardí right? Comment from : Joey L |
Ah Plantation The rum that presents itself as bartender friendly but is willing to screw over it's business partners and a foreign country's tradition of making rum just for profit Comment from : John Go |
flor de cana or havana club are the best budjet rums in my experience mutch better than bacardi but similarly priced Comment from : Atticus Wilson |
For some unknown reason to me, Americans don't get to have the best rums available worldwide I don't know why and feel sorry for you Americans :( Comment from : Éxitos Tropicales |
What about Matusalem Gran Reserva 23??? Comment from : Antonio Gonzalez |
Kill Devil Rum Comment from : Eric & Jess Cunningham |
i personally prefer the (illegal in the US) havana club 3 year over the bacardi, is the US version of havana club that different? Comment from : Crack Cobaine |
Hamilton Pot Still Black also makes great rum drinks Comment from : Michael Stedman |
What are the 5 best budget tequilas including reposado Comment from : reload7x1 |
What's crazy is that I was at a friend of mine's vacation home, and he has a little bar near the kitchen I decided I wanted to make a daiquiri because I had never made one or actually tried one before The only non-flavored rum he had was Bacardi Superior, so I begrudgingly made it with that I was very surprised at how great that cocktail was I never thought that such a cheap rum could make such a good daiquiri Comment from : Vortex1988 |
Early on you included Plantation 3Star in your list of Workhorse Spirits (with Old Overholt, beefeater, Evan 100, Famous Grousw Banknote, Tullamore Dew and Destillador 99 proof) Are you backing away from 3 Star, or does it not play on a Daiquiri for you Comment from : Andrew Yarosh |
I really like Plantation three star, but they need to hurry up and change the name, as I'm not actively going to purchase a relic of chattel slavery Comment from : Michael |
Try Siesta Key Rum! Comment from : Jennifer Miller |
I got the Plantation 2009 Fiji, 2011 Barbados, 2007 Barbados 🥳😋 Comment from : Albert |
It’s really hard to choose just 5 But one of the ones I’ve heard a lot of people say makes their favorite classic daiquiri is Probitas There is also a pineapple Dr Bird now and I grabbed a bottle to make a daiquiri but haven’t yet I believe it’s also upped to 114 proof Denizen White is also a great workhorse with enough complexity I’ve seen that Saison but didn’t know what it was Comment from : Kevin Clark |
Love worthy Park 109 as a topper must try Dr bird! Comment from : Sam |
In the past, I would have said dr bird in a daiquiri is insane, but you've made me a daiquiri with dr bird and it was incredible cheers! d Comment from : tapeseltule |
Appleton 12 Rhum clement Comment from : jon schor |
I can find Flor De Cana Extra Seco locally, so I keep that around for Daiquiris and Mojitos It's not quite as affordable as the Bacardi, but still nowhere near bank breaking Comment from : Christopher Reed |
Was gonna say pineapple plantation, u where 1 step ahead of me 🤣 Comment from : johnnyll91 |
no way in hell you put bacardi instead of plantation 3 star, this has gotta be a paid promotion or something lol Comment from : Yebm |
In Canada we have the pleasure to have access to the Havana Club rums, the 3 year white is just perfect for Daiquiris (and great Mojitos too) The 7 year is said to be great for Daiquiris as well Comment from : drax14QC |
honorable mention to the Rhum Agcicoles of Martinique! brBIG twist on that Daq, BABY!!! brSalut! Comment from : Loud n Brown |
Flor de Caña 4 extra seco is, for me, far superior to Bacardi, even considering the low price of Bacardi Bacardi is essentially as close to vodka that a rum can be It’s not bad, but it doesn’t really shine either If you want a wall flower, go with the Bacardi If you want something that’s not going to dominate your daiquiri but still have some character, go with Flor de Caña (they’re very similar in price too) Comment from : James Newell |
Never use Bacardi with your Daiquiri It is only good for Rum and coke Use a decent rum like Plantation 3 stars or Flor de Caña 4 Comment from : Rio |
Good picks! Probitas is definitely on my list And in Oregon, Doctor Bird is $38 and Stiggins is $44 Consider yourself lucky! Comment from : Jeff Selby |
Plantation 5 is also budget beauty 👍🏽 Comment from : Jose De La Cruz |
I used to always have the appleton great one for sure More costly in Canada but now living in America yummy Comment from : Driving With Jake |

How strange A friend brought Doctor Bird to a rum tasting I held and we all agreed it was one of the worst things we had ever tasted Basically undrinkable Tasted like butterscotch and grain alcohol I guess I'll try it in a daquiri and see how that goes Comment from : Aaron Sulla |

Dang, no daiquiri recipe in the description? Comment from : Evan Hayes |
My most recent favorite daiquiri rum is Uruapan Charanda! Sugar cane juice distillate from Mexico, crazy funky and leathery, but just as tropical and fruity It’d be somewhere in between the daiquiri with Saison and the Daiquiri with Doctor Bird in flavor profile Highly recommend! Comment from : Nick Luna |
Have you done any reviews of brugal rums Comment from : Adam |
Feel like probitas needs to be on the list IMO it makes the best daiquiri Comment from : Henry Burchett |
I love the Plantation Pineapple and Appleton Estate 12 year in my Daiquiri Also the Plantation OFTD makes an awesome Nuclear Daiquiri!! Personally I prefer the 2, 3/4, 3/4 ratio Comment from : Darren and Tina Sale |
All fantastic rum choices Banks 5 has become my go to Some real nice tropical notes in there Also, a split-base of Probitas and Denizen makes a very interesting Daiquiri Comment from : Eli Menaker |
Add me to the list of Bacardi rum haters Best use for Bacardi white is to disinfect your garbage disposal Probitas, El Dorado 3, Plantation 3 star, Flor de Cana 4 yr and of course, Havana Club 3 are my go-to picks And all of these are good for use in a Mojito Comment from : John Nilles |
I'm glad you gave Bacardi white label rum its propers It's perfect for classic daiquiris, probably because it was designed to be a rum for classic daiquiris If I owned a downtown dive bar, for happy hour, I bet I could serve two-ounce-build daiquiris made with Bacardi for $750 each Comment from : Bob |
would like to see all these Daiquiris in comparison to each other visually Probably I can't get all these rums to do it right away Comment from : Miika Kontio |
Love rum videos, always looking to expand my collection Nothing against tiki but there is so much to rum beyond that genre Comment from : DJ Wolfson |

Foursquare Probitas/Veritas (US/Europe) makes my favorite Daiquiri Comment from : Cyber Kender |

Surprised to not see an agricole/cane juice rum here! Comment from : Gabe Bennett |
Leandro, Those are some really good rums I will have to see if I can find the Saison & the Doctor Bird Comment from : Booze On The Rocks |
I was pleasantly surprised by Castille rum I payed $10 for a 750ml bottle and I actually enjoyed the taste a lot more than Bacardi Pairing it with lemon juice instead of lime juice is also a great combo for this rum Comment from : Joshua TheAwesome |
I don't know if they're a sponsor of this videobut ANY discerning rum drinker knows that Bacardi "Superior" is straight-up GARBAGE It just is and to not acknowledge that is doing a dis-service to the viewer Comment from : Scott Baron |
No Havana Club 3??? Comment from : Admiral Stiffplank |
My favorite daiquiri rums are (in order) 1) Barbancourt white or; 2) Cana Brava (unfortunately no longer made or; 3) Flor de Cana Preferred ingredient ratio is 2 parts rum/1 part lime/1 part granulated demerara/raw cane sugar mix (1 part demerara/4 parts raw cane sugar) stirred into juice in mixing tin Shake with cracked ice and strain into frozen coupe This is a mix of Phil Ward's preferred recipe in the Death & Co cocktail book and Beachbum Barry's daiquiri sugar blend The Barbancourt rum is a light agricole style rum that has a subtle rum and floral taste in a daiquiri and doesn't overpower the lime I'll use Jamaican rums on occasion, mainly if I am showing friends how important the choice of rum is in a daiquiri Personally I find them overpowering in such a light, balanced drinkbrFor an interesting twist, try adding 1/8( +/-) ounce of mezcal to your daiquiri recipe Comment from : J M |
THANK YOU! I’ve been building my rum stock and appreciate this list Comment from : Gary Hovey |

Yea, Bacardi def not for me, the Sasion sounds very interesting! The Old Stiggin’s is great, do a Daiquiri half with that and half with a Coconutoil fat washed light rum and you got yourself a Pina Colada style DaiquiribrDaiquiri KING still for me def is the Veritas/Probitas! Tastewise aswell as its giving me the 40+ proof Comment from : MM_Carsten |
I love using Flor de Cana 4 yr Seco in my daiquiri it gives a nice dryness tangy feel to the flavour but going to enjoy trying some of these others you suggested 😃 Comment from : Erez Bar |
I have been liking a mix of 15 oz plantation pineapple and 5 oz Smith and Cross in my daiquiris The S&C brings a little funk without getting crazy Comment from : John P |
Hello a doubt, will the applenton state 8 years reserve work the same or better for the daiquiri than the signature?
brGreetings from Panamà Comment from : Fernando De Frias |
Honestly, for me personally, I am a huge fan of Cruzan Light Aged Cheaper than Bacardi (in my area at least), and 10x better (again my opinion) It's my workhorse white rum and makes GREAT daiquiris Comment from : Dillon McGraw |
I miss the videos where Leandro and Marius talk on-camera and go off on weird tangents That was one of my favorite aspects of this show Comment from : Will IB |
I love Rum My favorite spirit by far However, when I am looking for a simple rum for a nothing fancy Daiquiri or a rum and coke, my goto is Don Q I think it is a far better and easier to drink rum than Bacardi and works really well in cocktails About 2 years ago I found Diplomatico Rum Reserva Exclusiva It is an awesome rum to sip on I would not make a cocktail out of it because it tastes just too damn good The product information on it has me salivating as I read it and it lives up to all of thisbrVenezuela- A complex blend with aromas of fruit cake, cocoa and spices such as cinnamon, clove and dried ginger Beautiful baked banana flavor with notes of fudge, toffee and vanilla oak, mingling well into gingerbread and orange zest Voted spirit of the year 2018 from Wine Enthusiast Comment from : Greg |
Try out Hamilton white rum It was designed to be perfect for daiquiris Comment from : Whats Gucci Vespucci |

Santa Teresa from Venezuela makes an extremely good daiquiri for me! Comment from : Mine |

My go to is Probitas, gives me a little of everything that I like in a daiquiri without being too heavy handed But I do also put Dr Bird, Stiggens Fancy and Appleton in rotation And Foursquare And Don Q And El Dorado Comment from : J C |
I’m a rum aficionado I always have, at least, a dozen bottles of various rums on hand One of my faves is inexpensive…Gosling’s Gold Seal Rum Ron deal Barrilito 3 Star (prices in the US mainland is sometimes double the price in Puerto Rico, however), Havana Club 7 (pick it up when I travel outside the US—Each traveler can bring back 5 liter bottles) and Real McCoy Comment from : MR |
I love using a split base 175:025 of light rum and young Rhum Agricole in my daiquiri For me adds just the right amount of funk while still having the boozy punch of the light rum Cheers! Comment from : Nils Miron |
I know it’s basic, but for me, Plantation 3 star I love that banana funk mixed with lime juice Comment from : Jan DeWitt |
Diplomatico Planas is a great one Comment from : Andy |
