Hi Fellow Fans of Fast All good points, plenty fast, not too expensive to buy Note in 2022 now, Porsche resale prices have shot up Also, the "running costs" are no myth The experts swear you have to change water pump, air-oil separator, coolant, brake / hydraulic fluid, tires and lots more every five years if not sooner It might need an AC compressor in there as well, though usually the AC clutch/belt pulley is the source of the alarming rumble at idle If one shock is leaking its vital damping fluid, change all 4 of them The others are usually shot The sway bar end links are the first suspension pivot to go, for sure change them while doing worn out shocks The spark plugs need a look every year or two Ignition coils are spark plug mounted and like to crack It won't run right with any iffy connection there So add six new coils while doing plugs Ignore Porsche`s crazy long oil & filter change schedule Do it every 3 or 4 thousand miles, and go beyond OE oil specs Total bucks in well regarded shop for all that? Figure $10,000 Your new tires should be "N" spec That means sidewalls etc are adjusted to suit Porsches With all that it MIGHT not break 300 miles into the mountains BTW, the sports car bit is very real These are calmed down racing cars If you are regularly doing the long trips on curvy roads or using it on crappy city streets, might want to avoid the tweaked models like S anything With overly aggressive tires, it will shake your fillings out After all that mind you, those long back roads are magic, every time

I live in Virginia, USA and bought a 1998 Porsche 986 Boxster in late 2019 for less than $6k shipped to my home from Texas Two owner car, all but 2k of the miles was from the wife of a Houston surgeon It needed all new tires and new top so I got one with a glass rear window That added another $2k She is fast, silver with red interior, great heat, great A/C, great radio, a blast to drive Two trunks, can got to COSTCO and bring back toilet paper with it! No glove box, only two seats The spec is 0 to 60 in 67 seconds, 149 mph top speed Compare that to a 1998 911 993 cabriolet at 0-60 in 54 sec and top 168 mph but 20,000 pounds MORE !! Is a little over one second better 0 to 60 and a back seat worth over $20,000 ?? Not for me! The front half of a 993 is identical to that of a 986 ANYWAY !!!

Utter unreliable car, expensive parts, expensive repair Some need the chassis to be totally removed for a minor maintenance In short, its a money pit like Mercedes and BMWs, it wont last 200000 miles without major overhaul of engine/transmission German cars sucks

This missed the 928 the 911 is the poor man's 928 the 928 won "Car" of the year - no other sports car has ever won "Car" of the year the 928 has two production car land speed records(1986 and 2020) the 928 is the biggest bang for the buck in exotic cars as well as the entire Porsche line up

normal entry level porsche peopl have no desire a 994 has the power and handling of a dodge neon the boxster for ten grand has 228 hp which is less than a used mustang and 9000 dollars more matter of fact a 98 mustang had 300 hp out of a?six cylinder there's no reason for a person with a?brain to ever buy a used porsche I've had 3 of them and were all a?total waste of money there's so many more powerful and better built cars than a?porsche If you have money to throw away get a wz6 trans am looks far better and?costs less

I’m seeing prices for base 981 cayman maintaining or increasing over the last 2 years It’s the S model that’s dropped down closer to the base price Nlow 718 base model starting to go lower than bare 981 Also price of base 981 maiintss asking well weven for ones with higher kms I therefore think the base 981 is a better buy but might be market dependant This is in Australia

You wrong about the Panamera, I've had a Cayenne v8s and two Panamera's By far the best for all round comfort, performance, economy (53mpg, 155mph, 700 miles per tank Diesels) and luxury are the Pannys

With regard to the 997, the only models you will find for around $40,000 are the 9971s But a higher mileage 9972 C4S—IF you can even find one here in the US (manuals are the rarest) will be north of $50,000 and lower mileage ones are going for north of $60,000 BTW, I’ve got a 981 Boxster S in manual and I agree with your assessment—they are FANTASTIC!
