I'd like to see one with option to plug in to the wall and operate on battery in emergency I've had ones similar and it can be dangerous if your not aware of the status of the battery Still the best option for me but I change my batteries once a month Comment from : Scottish Donathan |

I’ve had 3 Gun Vaults for years - different parts of the house brbrFlawlessbrbr‘Best part is that they’re engineered to run two bolts/nuts that go “up” thru a shelf / dresser (nuts on the inside)brbrThey open in seconds - only if the right “combo” is enteredbrbrThey come in two sizes The big one holds two or three full size handgunsbrbrI live in the country - mag “in” and one in the chamberbrbrQuiet, too Comment from : Greg Smith |
I have the small safe with a key that I am told the TSA has for checked baggage I drilled a hole in the suit case and put the cable through it which makes it harder to steal in baggage transport I also have the safe Hickok45 uses hidden in a kitchen cabinet and screwed down I have another safe behind a chair and screwed to the floor Comment from : Idiot1251 |
As they say, locks keep honest people honest Hopefully they deter the kids enough to get them to pass it by and keep it moving Comment from : James Kirk |

thanks for demonstration on lock boxes 👍 Comment from : Alvin Tarrer |
Does the Hornady come with a can of black paint that can be used to cover the bright red buttons that draw attention to the box, along with the bright red H with the cartridge drawings that screams to thief passersby "Pistol Inside!!!"? Comment from : FOG |
Vara safe looks promising Comment from : David Angus |
Hickok is what the NRA used to be Comment from : Fred Yarbrough |
I’m sure someone stated this but one in the chamber is a hazard during a fire as it can go off Comment from : Robert Jay |
I've got a basic Hornady round key lock box with cable ,the same size as that small combination safe Barely fits under my seat that sits really low But it can hold my Hellcat or Mossberg MC1sc Nice safe, course any safe can be broken into but they keep children out and stop the quick smash and grab theif from just busting your truck window and taking your gun quickly Comment from : The Hillbilly Piper |
I have one large safe for all my guns and valuables With things getting a little sketchy these days, it is almost imperative to have a couple outside and easier to get to My only reservation about one large safe is in the case of a burglary If on vacation I only take a couple handguns; the others stay at home in the large safe Should our home be burglarized while we are away, I would be afraid of the goons coming back while one of us is home and make us open the safe I am now thinking about building out a secret area for that large safe What are some thoughts out here? Comment from : Curtis Szymczyk |
Hickok is a good man and makes good videos I trust what he says! I have the second one! Comment from : Walter Schiller |
Artemes is WAY too slow ! Comment from : LarrysNetTube |

As someone that also watches lockpickinglawyer its broken me to see how easy it is to bypass some of these “locks” Comment from : Steven Carmichael |
I have a gun safe, but if I buy one it will be to keep my grandchildren safe, I keep my carrying gun ready and loaded The only thing I don't like it is that they are made in China I don't know of any made in the USA, and if they are reliable Comment from : Alfonso Benítez |
I got a glock 43x the all black one I love it and I got a fiance and kids I would protect them with it if I had to there is nothing wrong with guns the only people that has problems with guns is the anti gunners Comment from : Cody&jenn 87 |
Robber breaks in WAIT let me unlock my safe to get my gun Comment from : N3B |
Show these safes to the lock picking lawyer and see what happens Comment from : Music |
Sir, I thank you for every single video you produce This one was of interest as I had a keypad issue with one of these brands It is definitely not a good thing if your code is not recognized quickly and it takes several attempts to get your box to open The one I had finally failed, would not open, and was therefore cast to the trash I have gone with a new Vaultek and am so confident in the responsiveness and feel of the keys I thought to just give my 2 cents on an important facet of owning one of these Comment from : PSULionbacker |
Hey there, Hickok45 have you checked out the Hornady Rapid Vehicle Safe? Installed that a short while ago in my car and absolutely love it! Comment from : Terry Austin |
Just keep in mind that while these safes are good for keeping out children, guests who are too nosy, family members, and casual crooks who don't want to waste too much time Anybody with even a little bit of determination could typically find a weakness in these easily Take a look at lock picking lawyers channel for some examples Not saying they're worthless but they certainly won't keep any determined adult out of them Comment from : Traveler |
Great video, great information, well done thanks Comment from : paul falzarano |
One of the best gun safeties is understandingbrIf your kid know that guns are not toys and that they cannot touch them that is one of the strongest ways to stop them from getting hurtbrMy dad had about 5 unsecured handguns when I grew up, but the very first thing I can ever remember learning from him is that guns can and will kill you if misused and to never touch one laying around Comment from : Dominick Lipari |
A gun in the safe is as useful as a cop on the phone! Comment from : Leonardo Silver |
Would you keep a loaded handgun in a safe? Comment from : Richard Howe |
I have a big safe for my guns Where do you store your ammo? Is it OK to put ammo in the safe? Would you put ammo in a different safe? Comment from : Richard Howe |
What is any are made for a full-size 9 mm or 45 I've only found one on Amazon that might be interesting in print extra large or something Comment from : Luigi Viking |
Hi Hickok, one thing I would like to add on biometric safes I am 76 and have had several over the years as they came out Used to work great until my first one quit working with my finger prints Bought another brand and I couldn’t program my prints I tried my younger kids and both safes worked fine As you get older you’re prints get creases in them and obviously over the years your prints gradually wear out My suggestion is for an older person try programming one and see how it works for them I now use the Hornady safes with RFID devices Comment from : Terry Barker |
Gotta keep those guns secured away from childrenbrbr@4:50 Is that Hi Point? Comment from : K C |
Ive been there, no time for my safety to be locked Comment from : Big Blind |
All quick access safes need two features quick access and a mechanical key in case electronics fail Fail could be benign like a dead battery, to having the electronics failure due to a EMP (Electrical Magnetic Pulse) Most are good but prevent access to friends and family plus stop smash and grab thieves I like them They work well but the better the box the better the protection But never get one that does have mechanical access especially in the Biden Regime Comment from : Katrina Anon |
Do you guys think it’s a good idea to store magazines in a separate vault so the kids have more trouble getting to it? Kind of a backup safety to keep the hand gun separate from the ammo Comment from : OzMan |
I use the Homak's for rapid access About $60 to $90 depending on the size They are battery operated, and the batteries can run down But there's a procedure for opening in case of that (I keep those instructions in my regular gun safe) Takes me 2 to 3 seconds to open I keep my CCW in the Homak when I'm not wearing it Small enough, it's easily hidden When the Grandkids are over, it stays locked brIt's not the fanciest, but it works andbrThey didn't cost an arm and a leg Comment from : chuck cochran |
Opinions are like you know That polymer model would be a big fail for me for how it one time gave him problems opening Not something I'm willing to risk with someone breaking into the house Have one similar to the Vaultek with a 4 button code programmed Still not willing to trust biometrics either Change batteries once a year with the time change and smoke alarms Yep that Sig 320 is fully mag loaded and one in the pipe See this vid posted 5 years ago but was in a Talon Grips email today 7-20-21 Comment from : 34dawgsgo |
I had that big fat one for a while The finger code pad quit working on me Wondered how the hell I was gunna get my gun out Lost the key years ago Asked a friend to look at it He pulled it apart with his bare hands and handed me my gun Comment from : crazylikeafox1000 |
Is it in the realm of possibility for you to do a review/comparison video of full sized gun safes? 🤔 Comment from : daleboyrdm |
definitely need an updated for 2021 video And prior to purchasing one of these things, check out lockpickinglawyer Many of them are completely useless He opened a lifepod with a fork and a stack-on RFID with a spoon Comment from : Whiskeygrunt |
11:29 you put a hi-point in there? What did that safe ever do to you? Comment from : Fisher Barry |
Maybe it was just my luck, but I had to send three of these back to gunvault because I could never get one to last over a year without breaking Comment from : g Win |

What was the name of the 6th one? Top row on my right as I look at the video Thanks Comment from : Ted McKenna |
I bought 3 Liberty HD-100 Each began to fail within months Minor moisture will short them out You need to manipulate the lid system daily and constantly change batteries It is NOT a reactive system Great for storage, NOT home defense Will fail I have to use the keys to open them now Fine for keeping my kids out of my wallet and knife Comment from : John Kim |
1:06 is what brought me here Comment from : changesthingsagain |

Liberty HDX-150 or 10 Series - VT10i - Bluetooth - Biometric Comment from : Ivan dimitrov |
Surprised you didn’t show any mechanical safes ,or give your opinion on mechanical versus electronic, Fort Knox makes a non electronic one I recently ordered have not received it yet though I have had electronic safes in the past and it seemed at some time or another I would have a problem with it Comment from : liberty5568 |
I have the Awesafe gun safe, mounted in a secure area It won’t stop the determined thief from picking the tubular lock or physically destroying it But a person would have to get through my pitbull first My concern is my family getting access to it, which I’m happy with the safe I have Comment from : r0mediddy |
Can they keep Creepy Joe and Cameltoe from grabbing our guns? 💩 Comment from : Barack Blows |
The Fort Knox is the best; no batteries required🇺🇸 Comment from : Barack Blows |

Hickok45, Thanks for all of your reviews I am moving in with my daughter and my grandkids need to be protected from my firearms Great reviews Comment from : Fritz Brown |
i know this is an older video, but can you comment or point us in the right direction for full on gun safes It's hard to know the pluses and minuses of the safes advertised (and to be honest, the liberty safes I've see look really similar to the browning safes, which look similar to the stack on safes, which look similar to the you get the idea) keep up the great work! Comment from : David A |
Once again, great video! My 02 on the Gun Vault After a while, the door will not open, even with fresh batteries Almost seems like it lost power and there's not enough to open the door That could be very dangerous if you need to access your firearm in an emergency situation Comment from : Brian Messenger |
I remember the good 'ole days when folks used to keep the family gun above the fire place in plain sight Comment from : aribbonatatime |
Tubular keys have a serious design defect that make them very easy to defeat with an impressioning tool It is unfortunate that they are popular on a lot of small safes and strong boxes Comment from : jmdelapp |
Come for the gun knowledge, stay for the 8 million cicadas screaming in the background Comment from : James Stewart |

👍🏼 Comment from : kIng Carters Wisdom |
Started the girls with BB and pellet guns when they were little I got a hand gun and they don't give a k rap Cable sucks for the single action revolver Heritage Have to take the cylinder out to lock it, why lock it it's dismantled at that point I would like one of those boxes though I don't keep the ammo near the gun either The balance of safety, gun safety is brutal mind warp LOL best option is the safest option Comment from : Dirt Diggler |
pretty sure those back up key locks can be picked with a bic penthere's a video of it out there somewhere Comment from : Brad L |
