I have a learning disability, but I've been able to accomplish obtaining two college degrees and have a successful career Use your school supports, they are there for you An IEP will be your best asset from elementary school to college

My learning disability makes feel lost in every day life and two things I struggle with reading and writing and math as well I feel like when word gets fast I get slow in every day it sucks

I was diagnosed with a Learning Disability in 1974 when I was 11 years old, I also attended Catholic schools which weren't much help After visiting with specialist, nuns, Drs and so forth the problem I had and still have is not catching on and learning as quickly as other students were Huge set back for me I was made fun of, teased and tormented by many making me hate school I struggled with school, it didnt come easy for me brbrI never got the opportunity to meet others that had the same problems I had so that I could relate to them My educators were not nice or cooperative in helping me, but I survived the best I could just to graduate Only the educators and my family were supposed to know about my problem and help me but everyone knows how gossip spreads I was treated like I had down syndrome, it was awful I just wanted to crawl in a corner and die But I survived against all odds even went on to graduate with a BA in Communications from a 4 year liberal arts college No one there knew I had an LD issue and I wasnt about to let that out for fear of the obvious I never took classes in business, nursing or law bc I knew I would never survive those more challenging courses I still struggled, but I survived I was told I would never make anything of my life, the working world doesn't want losing learning disability people working for them, on and on brbrI am now 57 and looking to retire in about 10-12 years I still find myself second guessing everything I do, this is all due to the abusive educators I had to deal with This traumatizes people When I see kids or adults struggle to learn things it breaks my heart I never took part in any school activities for fear of being found out This is a long story I wont go into Anyway, I will stop here for now There is hope for anyone with a disability, just try to work through it, try to find a local support group You are not alone OK, take care everyone

Growing up going to school from elementary to high school I remember during my classes an iep teacher would show up & look for me I never really understood why it happens Until when at my transition program My teacher told me i had LD they told me its not because im stupid, it means that you learn differently from others I had to process it And my disability has effected me mentally & emotionally sometimes I even wonder why i exists But i just have to keep going & pressing through & go learn new things I am 24 now I know for as long as I live it will continue to effect me I hope if i ever have children of my own That they will achieve more than i did Who knows maybe they might even have my traits & their moms traits I hope they have more of their mothers than mines so that why it wont effect them like it did with me

I've been having difficult making friends & interacting with my peers since childhood even I have learning difficulties I don't like using the word disability / disabled because I don't want no one feel uncomfortable you know what I'm saying It was hard for me to make friends my peers switch up on me Using me as an friend ( fake friends) I don't feel accepted it hurts me but my 2021 goal not to worry about friends I want people with Learning difficulties do the same God bless all of you Don't cry don't be sad its going to be ok

The things I learned to do , include not sharing financial information with no one accept professional dissbilty advocates that provide the correct information on how to keep your money handling skills in the order in which it is learned and try not to let anyone know who teaches us so many differant money skills so those issues get better and not worse because it's the worse feeling to even have and their are a lot of protend friends to D Learners in this area and I hope everyone last of those fake protend friend get caught and most of the time they do and will because the dissbilty advocates and their associates do not play and I get and have gotten most of my strength from the people who have made a hurmungious differance in my life with multiple subjects of learning for real life situations and career building too brbrThey are my true Heroes and friends the teachers , Disabilty advocates that teach us the true meaning of social skills with other by teaching us how to read , write and most important counting brbrAnd I am a I CAN learner for more than eight years and my studies are continues with some of the same studies with repeat after repeat but if you knew me years ago brbrI could have never been able to express my self or words in just amount no kind of way or fashion brbrThe humanity people are the true Heroes of life to us D L learners that words can not exspress its full length but at least they would never do the things they do many thousands amount thousands of people communicate to us like a hurt that is so undescribable that I won't even try because why should we give them the satisfaction to think not be able to do the every day things that they do , on regular with ease and no worries or complication of other knowing whatever subject of learner could put another in differant directions than other because they think speach communicstion is easy for them , and the one that get me , are the once that think it's easy to make or structure a sentence or sentences to convey yourself in every situation that need writing accuracy too because we wont even talk about if you know how to monuiver on the computer or not but every career now days is going require correct sentences brbrBut I have to work on comprohenstion for that too but again I say , my eight years of constant studies brbrI don't have a social life or relationship for at least seven years too I don't buy cable so I CAN advance my studies with the painful journey of certain subject but I am doing things I never thought I would be able to form in a thought or making better sentences and once I am able to know what is being said in conversations , it gonna be one less thing a abrustive is what I think of them as because that is what so many of try to explain doing communication break downs and break threw when they are not knowing how hard we try Years after years brbrWe should just stay focused on are books that we are suppose to read for which ever subject needed to be studied to get better at communication because it is what so many people tend to focus on too brbrWhy I don't know but they do those are that person wounder how we don't let them effect us mentalty or emotionally snd especaily never verbally abrustive eitherbrbrLet me say thanks to this videos channel for providing a place were we can at least out a chat to one another for moral support to one another to not let wrong people do things to sirpress are thoughts in they advance thinking that we might not know how to combat to their knowledge or thinking but eevhavevwgst us being taught to us by some of the greatest people in society brbrThe people who knows we are all human being not just someone knowing things that other people don't know like them brbrHave a great day to all D L learners with a tutor too because I forgot to mention my tutors of all my study years to who continue to reach me in my learnings that feel like when will communicate like other people in sentences ,comprohenstion and all the areas define us as communicating differant than what they are do formilar with too brbrSomething like that and they also have a typing keyboard that corrects your writing as you write , too People don't need to know the sentence errors either brbrHave a great day and try to stay focus on the studies and not think but know , I too CAN communicate too ,brbr I CAN do it , too !brbrAnd I thank the people that made the video too
