What if a doctor prescribes something and it improves our condition but has a side effect that is probably worse than the learning disability? My mother fought to have me put in regular classes in NV in the 1970's and I was totally unable to understand anything and often the teacher in each class would let me sit there drawing on paper until my mother took them to state supreme court The supreme court judge noted I could not read write nor spell my own name in the 4th grade and he charged the state board of education with federal violation of my constitutional right to a free education and a trial date was set but the board of education backed down and and withdrew its case before trial date Comment from : Neinka Lando

Social security disability is so dumb when it comes the gray area They talk about if you can keep a full time job you do not need disabled help SSD so dumb in understanding that because they talk about disability all the time they are not letting the disabled person grow They are making the disabled life harder and making it harder on the families I lost My mother a year and a half ago she had heart problems and she was my Social Security Disability payee Social security didn't pay attention for 25 years to my mom heart problems They forced my mom to do want they required and didn't care or ask me want I wanted They talk all the time about what does doctors say but they don't care if they treat me as a baby After my mom died my brother became my Social security payee He is a CEO of a company and he has a very busy life and SSD doesn't care about what my brother needs or wants I always work a part time job but after a year and a half SSD said I worked too much What get me so mad, is that I can only work $128000 a month before taxes I get $1200 hours and if I work on holidays I get time and a half Social Security said That is too much I also work 20 hours a week If I didn't have my brother helping me I would be homeless Social Security disability wanted $140000 back for working too many hours They said, I should told them right away when mom died I didn't tell them because they don't care who does it For Social security disability all that matter is having someone filling out the forms every month Who care if your money is controlled my someone you don't know I told SSD that I didn't want in the future a SSD payee and SSD said that I would have to pay from 1993 -2019 money back because they said that I was never disabled I am very happy to me off SSD because I work at Safeway For 15 years Now I have a fulltime job Comment from : Barbara Thompson

There are a lot of factors If you go to one of the best public schools in a rich neighborhood, the teachers might cast a student to the side because they are too lazy to figure out that there could be some kind of unrelated issue That same kid might go to an other school and beat out the other students Among other things, teachers are the ones who classify a student as LD but most teachers will have a hard time admitting that they just do not have the skills to handle every child that comes into their room, especially with 29 others to manage Comment from : D M

YOU BETTER READ THIS ! could not even get throw your video with out stopping to say,, 1, most people with (LD) don't have a low IQ,, do your research! 2 out of those jobs you talked about, just what one of them can some one make enough money to support a family ? or rent some where to live and still afford to eat and most jobs require you to have your own car, so there's even more bills 3 drivers license,,, where i took my driver's license, there was a computer with headphones that read it to me, did you not know they had that ? look here, maybe people that are trying to fake it don't know the answers to every thing you where just talking about but i'm not a faker, i dealt with LD my entire life and i don't want disability money for my LD, but the schools don't know how to handle it and now that i'm well in to my adult life, i was on here trying to find help with my LD when i came across you and what you just sade,, and all i got from it was up set,, ( trying to use my better words here ) having learning difficulties has nothing to do with IQ i can barely spell but i do know how to use spell check, but most of us with DL can't carry around a computer at work and say ( hold on why i get it right with my computer first ) Comment from : gp w

This is so wrong I suffer from a learning disability all my life I can't keep a job because of it I was in speacial classes from kindergarten all they way through high school I'm not good at any subjects i struggled in them all I have ppl read me the applications and help me fill them out and have ppl help me with my change but because i can hold a conversation for 3 minutes i get denied SSI every time I apply yet i cant find or keep a job because of my learning disabilities Comment from : Apryl C
