Hopefully this one was a good one I planned, wrote, shot, and edited it all by myself in a day and a half I can’t tell you how long it has been since I’ve made a video (a) that fast, and, (b) entirely myself Years… And I’m clearly rusty brbrAnyways, expect quality to rebound back to a better spot over the coming weeks and video publishing frequency to return to once weekly My new video producer starts Monday Comment from : Snazzy Labs |

Upgrade to a Bluetooth 30 pin adapter, problem solved… Comment from : Gary Wayne 555 |

Well I was about to buy one!! But after your little report I think I'm going to change my mind Even if I like the look I will not invest in this speaker that apparently does not keep its promises but I find that it still happens regularly at Apple No, I'm the one wrongbrbrEt bien et bien j'étais sur le point d'en acheter une !! mais après ton petit reportage je crois que je vais me raviser même si le look me plaît bien je ne vais pas investir dans ce haut-parleur qui apparemment ne tiens pas ses promesses mais je trouve que ça arrive quand même régulièrement chez Apple non c'est moi qui me trompe Comment from : SAM D |

Steve Jobs was well known to have loved music (Bob Dylan and the Beatles were two faves) and high end Sony stereos back when Sony made good stereos By 2006, I'd say he'd moved on to some really expensive HiFi - He admitted it in his talk I have a hard time believing he gave all that up for an iPod HiFi I'm sure he used it in the kitchen or by the pool, but as a main stereo replacement? I'm just not convincedbrbrI used one of these speakers in the office back in the day It was perfect for what we bought it for and it was well worth the money It preferred it to the alternatives from iHome, Bose etc But a HiFi system it was not Comment from : Old Aussie Ads |

I had one of these in my car and it got stolen! So sad Comment from : Christopher |

6 huge batteries completely wasted by no power off button 🫠 Apple commitment with the environment since 2006 Comment from : Will Arzamendi |

I bought a second hand Bose iPod dock todaybrTotally worth it Best $65 I've spent in a whilebrI've no idea why they tanked in value, you can get Bluetooth adapters for them (which work on a lot of docks) and it has aux inbrIt even has a battery, I can take it downstairs and just fill my living room with music with ease Comment from : Lasky Labs |
I genuinely miss Steve and his original vision for Apple Comment from : Sramm |
D cell batteries , no power socket Lasts 5hrs It ends right there Comment from : Cam365 |

It’s funny, I was in Jr High when this released and I remember reading about it on CNET and really wanting one of these when it was released I also remember around the same time being intrigued by the Zune’s really clean and smooth user interface Microsoft absolutely bNAILED/b crafting the iperfect/i MP3 player right as Apple was about to embark on leaving the iPod behind forever with the iPhone 😂 brHowever I totally forgot about this speaker until your video! I assumed it was good quality and to see them still out and about in the wild and in just 3 short more years, turning 20 is nuts to me man Comment from : Clint Golub |
you're back and forth with liking the speaker not liking it totally disagree, its a wonderful product have 2 of them(bought a second one on ebay years ago as i was afraid if the first one went bad i could use second one for parts whatever), but great quality yes, was a tight sealed enclosure had tremendous power and bass but to encourage more high notes one simply needed to just adjust EQ through an app etc discovered a bluetooth plug in for the 30 pin port when i bent the pins by accident so can now use it again with an iPhone bluetooth wise its actually too powerful for my 500 sq foot apartment and neighbors complain( or did) yes $349 was too much and so it didn't sell high numbers but still a great product and was portable which was keynever liked that HomePod thing they were reaching at r and d, plus it was a plug in who wants that! today is about portability, that's why Bose does so well have two Bose speakers as well which are superb Hifi and HomePod failed apple sales but didn't fail consumers who know quality products Comment from : ezee-e |
I'm a fanboy, but I like seeing reviews that don't pull punches Thanks for not gushing Comment from : John Schmitt |

Audiophiles wouldn't want one of these Comment from : friedkangaroo |
Bro those stickers were cool Comment from : SaceedAbul |

Steve Jobs: highly skilled in hyping mediocre products or unveiling 'innovative' features that have existed in other similar products for years This speaker probably served as a 'stick to what you know' moment for him and his marketing hacks Comment from : A G |
i have 1 new! I love it Comment from : Andrea Grosso |
Haha funnily enough, I'm listening to the audio of this video on one of those! Comment from : OperatorFlix |
anyone know what brand of speakers they used? Comment from : Forrest Lambert |
HomePod failed simple due to it not being a speaker that you could use it was an Apple Music only device didn't work with any device at all no BT, no Jake, and apple didn't even let you use it for the Mac as your speaker that failed for a lot more reasons than it being 350 Comment from : BrotherO4 |
Do you think these would benefit from some tweeters and passive crossovers? Comment from : PS4 Custom Gamer |
someone lied to steve the speaker is sealed, there are literally two ports on the front Comment from : kuchesezik |
You judged this speaker so much broo this speaker is amazing in all platforms Comment from : VLOG ESCORT ● |

I'm gonna be weird here, but you're very attractive Comment from : DUSTRICK |
I think it's an insane amount of money for what you get but I think that of all Apple products, I was reading the comments because I was seriously asking myself who would buy such a thing and spend an insane amount of money for it and to my surprise I see there are a lot of crazy people out therebrFor 350 dollar I can find much better speakers, even if I would build them myself it would be way better than this thing but it wouldn't be able to connect any Apple Pods to it but it would connect to any other audio device that normal people use, just the fact that an iPod can't even play my mp3's like a normal player by simply copying and pasting it with my computer to the player just doesn't compute with me, why do people want to go through all the hassle of converting your mp3 files into something that the iPod can understand and play I don't get itbrGood thing that the iPod is becoming a thing of the past, should be happening with all Apple products Comment from : Ricardo Penders |
Just bought one and going to collect it The seller is missing the electric cord, what kind is it? Comment from : Andreas Kisch |
Great vacuum cleaner advertisement The kids lock is amazing, I'm getting so tired of my kids secretly vacuuming my home! Comment from : Jerry W |

is the captions rushed Comment from : syreksdee |
I was wondering why he randomly started talking about a vacuum cleaner I thought it was some kind of joke until I realized it’s an ad, so I skipped it Comment from : badmoose01 |
I have a pair of home pods (purchased for $199 each) and I love them I do not understand all the negative reviews (other than the full retail price) They sounds marginal as one speaker, but great in stereo The best part is the sound quality is good everywhere in the room Maybe I just appreciate that because it is not the case with my also beloved Martin Logans I can see being disappointed with one speaker for $349, but I would call a pair at $400 one of my best purchases Good video though I didn't remember this speaker Comment from : Todd Prout |
I love how honest Steve Jobs was Everything good or bad, he said to the audience Comment from : waitwhosbrian |
Homepod “studio”… interesting choice of words… 😏 Comment from : AJMT13 |
You need to test the Soundboks 3 (^_^)brbrA buddy of mine had one of those apple speakers in his apartment Frankly, for ambient music in that space it was fine The thing I didn't like was the size sitting on his shelf There were (and are) better systems that put small speakers on the shelf and a sub down on the floor that both look and sound better Comment from : Christopher Siano |
Ahhh yes, i remember the Apple Hifi, that thing really had some kick to it man! Comment from : Nick Mastro |
Not buying that vacuum Comment from : Chris Foster |
I'd be curious to get two of these and set them up in a proper stereo configuration and see how they sound Comment from : Enzdude |
If they added tweeters and an equalizer like the aiwa exos 9 it would’ve probably been better I have the exos 9 and that thing sounds pretty impressive Comment from : Justin Galasso |
Apple 🤮 🤢 🤮 🤢 Comment from : Raul pavel 3d |
I have a jbl charge 5 Comment from : Raul pavel 3d |
So is this basically a beats boom box but remade into a Apple shell Comment from : Bandit |
5:03 empirical data of my own I left my airpod max for over three months with no charge on standby mode and when I got back to it, it had power to run for more than hour of listening Comment from : Hamid Nia |
They honestly don't need an official successor or solution; rather simply, Sonos exists and so does their lucrative beats partnership, airpods and "just good enough" home pod mini Comment from : [insert Name Here] |
I see if you put a child lock on it the child will say I must defeat that child lock so I can use the vacuum Comment from : imark7777777 |
Hmmm, your're homepod video has been as popular as the homepod itself Interesting, it just never created any buzz Comment from : Baz za |
Question if you have this does it with a 30pin to lightning does hi res lossless work? Comment from : Kode Williams |
Send it to dankpods Comment from : Euansouthern 2112 |
I had one of these connected to an airport express to play my iTunes music off my computer It was great, people were always amazed that I could control the music from my phone Comment from : Andrew Bagot |
12:20 it can even only be the price of an Adapter if you find good speakers on eBay for free (at least it's possible where I live, every place has different people wanting to get rid of different things) Comment from : Xasmanius Völk |
I think the problem with the price was that in 2006, many people would probably be thinking, "$349 and it doesn't even come with a radio and CD player" Comment from : piratesmvp |
Nice speaker but the battery power 🤣 No Comment from : Fra96 |
The way ur so gorgeous ✨ Comment from : Ricardo M |

Sonos has captured my attention as the tech-lover-audiophile’s most obvious choice, and I wish Apple would follow their lead All of their products are absolutely stunning Comment from : Brandon Billings |
All of Apple's mid-2000s products are so hard to clean it's crazy The gunk in this thing's gaps reminded me of my old Mac, mouse, keyboard Comment from : ur favorite human bean |

dont ever disrepect me looking like a young louis ck Comment from : Da Vaults |
That’s a Dyson rip off product your advertising Comment from : Scots On the road |
Hopefully we see this make a comeback in the form of a HomePod max or something Comment from : Brent Mifsud |
Sums up Apple's strategy quite well - they are selling overpriced stuff by telling that it's very good And hope that you'll never find out the truth Comment from : Mart |
I have this still somewhere! I used it to bang music along my 30minute trip to school on the back of my bike, amazing sound Comment from : Mareno Glas |
10:42 “it failed, as did the HomePod”…really? Comment from : andrews_fe |
My wife still has hers on a shelf in her studio We put hundreds of hours of use into this, especially playing soothing ambient music for each of our three kids when they were infants Comment from : retropcdurham |
Is this era I was all over sociable iPods, I went and listened with my iPod to every dock radio I could I even bought some of the cheeper ones, iHome, Bose and kicker But out of all of them this apple one was the one hat sounded good But… it was the one that was always not appealing even though it had the sounds Two factors for me, 1 it was the most expensive 30 pin iPod dock out there on the market, 2 It was the most featureless iPad dock on the market No display, no audio adjustment, no FM and it was the biggest dock out there But in the store it was the best sounding dock in it’s day Comment from : minitrucker007 |
The barrier to Apple trying to do a HiFi product again is that they would be up against the Naim Mu-so 2nd generation, which is, frankly, fantastic Much more expensive than $349 though, but so are the latest iPhones these days Comment from : Michael Salt |
Nobody cares it was like 50000 years ago Comment from : Ritchie A |
The HomePod isn’t a failure lol 😂 Comment from : SimsForever |
This is my main speaker, has been for years Impressively loud and accurate, I love it! Comment from : Neekon Saadat |
I've never seen your videos nor care about this kind of product much, but I watched the entire video and it had a very pleasant atmosphere So many videos have annoying jokes or someone with an annoying personality This also was thorough in analyzing this speaker and the context it existed within It was an interesting study in product design and market forces Comment from : blargg |
Who bothered about copyright lol great video Comment from : welcome to my channel |
the song was wusyaname? Comment from : Pierre Clay |
Man, I loved that thing Had great sound Comment from : dēs |
Google Home Max and be done Comment from : ReanimationXP |
I bought a Bose SoundDock II for about a third of what that sold for and it sounds really good I got a bluetooth adapter from Amazon so I can still use it to play music from my iPhone Comment from : David Toups |
I really liked the homePod! It's a perfect living room speaker that sounds good enough for casually listening to music while I'm cooking, cleaning or just hanging out The smarthome integration could be better, but it's still the best sounding smart home speaker IMO Comment from : Cappuccino - |
The design still better than homepod Comment from : Fajar Kurniawan |
ive used oneof these and I must say they absolutely KNOCK Comment from : Zaj V-B |
I worked at the Apple store at the time I sold a bunch of these Had a guy return it the following day and buy the Bose dock speaker said the HIFI was terrible Comment from : TheSchwiz |
Your eyes are kinda beautiful Comment from : B Curiel |
They are great speakers and the battery is really an option, not a must by any mean Comment from : Commentator541 |
I don't know why you call this a "secret", it wasn't a secret It was advertised and sold in most places in the UKbrbrHell go to cash converters in my home town and you'll find at least one of these on the shelves The reason this goes forgotten isn't because it was a secret product, it's because there were SO MANY cheaper products by third party companies Comment from : stuspawton |
Räva! Comment from : Rune Fossdal |
9:06 808's and heartbreak Heartless, amazingg song Comment from : Luke Omlid |
We still use mine and it sounds way better than most similar size units Comment from : Chris Wesney |
