Here's a question of morals IF you discovered that the 20-count tubes of silver eagles you purchased online were actually counterfiet, would you accept the loss, or would you attempt to sell them to others as real coins? Unfortunately, even if someone was fooled into receiving counterfeit notes, (which could happen to ANYONE at any time), the US government will confiscate/sieze the notes but will NOT compensate someone for their loss

There are some fake type 1 Silver Eagles making the rounds on EBay right now I believe that the last six I purchased are fake and I have 5 more coming that I believe are also fake I was a little concerned when they arrived and I weighed them and they were the same as my known good Eagles Watching this video definitely helped me catch them Working on a refund now Thanks

Another cheap test is a simple magnifying glass Most fakes will have something or other wonky going on with the strike If it doesn’t look real just pass it up

The magnet, the scale and the calipers are all Negative tests, while the Pinger and the App are Positive tests The first three tests can tell you only what is "definitely not silver" but only the Pinger/App can tell you "positively is silver," if I understand correctly Examples: I could put a rock on the scale that measures within tolerance, and I could put a piece of plastic in the calipers As you pointed out, other metals give the same reaction with the magnet as well But the Pinger/App, can that give false results?

I use a scale and a magnet I just got 3 2021 type 2 silver eagles One was 313g, second was 315g, third was 316g most of my other silver eagles 313g, or 314g

What about the specific gravity test? Lets say that you have a silver plated copper coin with the correct dimensions and weight You could use the specific gravity test to take a closer look Weigh a suspended coin in a cup of water The specific gravity of solid silver would be different than that of copper
