I am new to acrylic, and have used a few times, what I struggled with is drawing little small details because the paint was too thick it was hard to control the paint on the brush, even when using a tiny brush How should I deal with this? Comment from : Roj u Av |

What I've always used as a pallette: Took design101 in community college and the professor had us bring a 8x10 picture frame in "cheapest you can find" first day with the frame we removed the glass and taped the sides and corners with painter's tape It's amazing because if we were trying to match a color when mixing, we set the glass pallette on top of the reference and mixed until matched Comment from : John Hooten |

I will participate in an exam where we need to paint in real time with acrylics, this video was really helpfull since i don't really use acrylics often, i just wanted to ask how much does the medium you referred to effect the time the paint dries? I eally get frustrated when the paint i mixed dries up before i get to use it but I like how fast it dries on the paper since i have limited time, does using the medium you showed in the video also change the time it dries on paper? Comment from : V |

So I'm just trying to get back into painting because I just enjoyed it as a child My sister gave me her acryllic set that she doesn't use anymore recently Grateful as I am, I hadn't the first idea to get started, but you're helping me make that first step Thank you for this Comment from : TheEtherealOne95 |

Wow mind blown about painting the under tones first (such as blue under the lobster) It makes so much sense when it's explained but I just wouldn't have thought of that I went to school for digital art but i've really been wanting to get into acrylic painting but it seems so intimidating when I have become used to having an unlimited color pallet, an undo button, and can forever edit what I'm working on This was a great introduction and makes me less afraid to just get into it and not fear the mistakes :) Comment from : Elk Forests |
|

Acrylic painting is nice It is a fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion and plasticizers, silicone oils, defoamers, stabilizers, or metal soaps Most acrylic paints are water-based, but become water-resistant when dry Depending on how much the paint is diluted with water, or modified with acrylic gels, mediums, or pastes, the finished acrylic painting can resemble a watercolor, a gouache, or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media Comment from : Pearl Austin Jane Omectin |
|
Thank you for this video! I think the advice about not using black or white is useless brbrI would rather teach that you can use it in the last 10 minutes of painting so that you can paint small white and black detailsbrbrAll of my paintings without white or black are just boring brYou don’t have this blick of light or anything because the lightest value is slightly yellowbrbrPaintings lack this sharpness that black and white give Comment from : LeeLanHua |
|
wow! i really wish i watched this video before starting to paint as a hobby i only recently started using gesso, and i've literally never heard of mediums i have always pencil sketched beforehand though Comment from : Kevin Collier |

That was really interesting I have no art background but used to find myself getting absorbed when I painted wargaming miniatures when younger I bought a cheap acrylic set and did my first painting and chose an easy identifiable subject (European Robin) so no matter how bad it was, I would be happy as I could see what I was going for Nice to know the chemistry which makes perfect sense and like the idea of the complimentary colour wheels I will likely apply things I learned on this video to painting number 2 Comment from : Calum Dickinson |

1:30 I never realized that white was dulling up my colors, I always noticed it, but couldn't understand what I was doing wrong, since every tutorial on youtube advises to use whitebrbrA lesson on brightening or darkening colors without using white or black would be great help! I assume I can use any light or dark color, as long as I take into account their warmness or coolness? Comment from : E M |
