If I saw a ticket with a stopover at my destination that was CHEAPER than a direct flight there, I'd buy it It's just being a capitalist consumer Not being a bad customer The company making me pay extra for less is to blame, not me seeing through their shenanigans

Why in the world would a flight from A to C with layover in B be priced less than a flight from A to B? To me, this is a sign that airlines have major problems with their pricing structures Travelers are absolutely using common sense to take advantage of this situation and I don't think airlines have justifiable grounds to complain or punish travelers for doing this Just make your pricing more common sense and transparent

To minimize the practiceairlines are going to eliminate carry-on baggageor only permit something incredibly small or only checked bags allowed They'll all be in agreement on it It COSTS more to service smaller out of the way places than a direct flight to a big airport Thats why flights to small cities have higher fares Its a businessnot a charity for Gen z

Skiplagging should not only be allowed, it should be against the law to punish! Not taking a paid-for flight can only HELP an airline If they want to prevent logistical problems, they should allow people to declare it as a skiplag and receive a rebate

Don’t do it 😂 did something like this over ten years ago and skipped the second flight because it was almost 23hr layover wait for the connecting flight and I used to have high anxiety flying and took a bus to the second place to take the connecting flight they made me pay a difference and told me not to do that again because they would put me on a “no fly list”that was out of the country when I tried doing that in the states because we lost our first flight and my friend had to get to work the next day they said if we didn’t take the next available flight from the first part of our flight, even though it wasn’t our fault we missed the plane (customs held her up even though she had the legal paperwork signed by her ex in order to travel with her 17 yr old daughter), we would forfeit the rest of the trip if we didn’t wait for the next flight, we were lucky that 3 passengers let us fly in their place because the airline had overbooked the ticketsit’s not worth the grief of paying extra and losing luggage

My understanding is that If you do it on your outbound journey, once you are a no-show on the 2nd leg your return journey is automatically canceled - so you can really only do it on the return journey

Hey Airlines, crazy idea but how about, STOP CHARGING AND ARM AND A LEG FOR SHORTER FLIGHTS IN SEATS THAT BARELY FIT AND ARM AND A LEG!!!! I guess I did this accidentally when I missed a flight because I could not make the connecting flight in time It was international so I had to pick up my luggage That was part of the reason I missed it - Customs and a terminal change

Couldn't the argument can be made that YOU are actually saving the airlines some money? If you skip the second leg of your trip, that flight will weigh less (minus your body weight and your luggage) and uses less fuel

Hi I am a retired airline marketing employee I have heard this over and over from travelers for years now Airlines won't do well or will lose money if they charge fairly by each leg of the itinerary The key to airline profit, along with full or nearly full flights, is to have a good mix of different kinds of fares for a particular city pair Airlines from the past which didn't last because of leg pricing were Laker, People Express, Braniff (their 2nd coming back) and some others Cheers

I don't understand people who are always trying to "cheat the system" over a few dollars From not declaring goods purchased overseas at customs to now skiplagging I'd rather just do the right thing and not have guilt/stress/etc on my conscience On the other hand, if the airlines weren't engaging in what appears to be price gouging, people wouldn't be taking these shortcuts

Better idea check the price to Florida or whatever using Canadian or Mexican airline They are not allowed to fly out of a US city but drive or vacation briefly across the border and between the exchange rate and the cheaper fare you can reduce the cost and get better service The US government is protecting airlines from competition Say you want to go to Florida Disneyland, well the price is jacked way up during the busiest times but it isn't costing the airlines more for fuel

Packing tip: A backpack and a purse will fit under any airline seat, even on a CRJ or ERJ You will sacrifice leg room, but if your goal is to make your destination, it's worth it I spent years flying standby with no gurantees of making any flight (FYI- Flight benefits are not as great as they seem when working for an airline)
