I recently learned a friend of mine and my roommate’s grew up in an extremely sheltered conservative Christian environment and of course her parents were anti-vax She’s trying to get caught up on her vaccines now as a college senior so she can go overseas as part of a graduation requirement It sucks that she has to go through all that now, in her early 20s, but hey, there’s hope that people can break out of these sorts of beliefs

growing up hearing all the disgusting views on autism made me resent my eventual diagnosis even though I sought a diagnosis and got the answer I knew I would get, the hatred I had for myself grew I grew up hearing repulsive opinions about autistic people, and I feel it has permanently damaged the way I view myself people worry so much about the possibility of a child "getting autism" but never worry about how much they're destroying an autistic child's self-worth those comments don't go away

Finland actually had a case where a H1N1 vaccine was proven to cause narcolepsy in children This was not a case of all H1N1 vaccines being bad, but a very certain brand being untested and rushed to the market So yes there are actual cases where vaccines can actually do more harm than good A certain type skepticism for rushed new vaccines is warranted Antivaxxers just take it way too far and try to say the entire apple tree is bad because of few rotten apples A measles vaccine is still very effective, necessary and well tested even when that one H1N1 drug failed miserably because of greedy pharmacy

My mom wasn’t really antivax until trump took office — she didn’t get the flu vaccine and there were a couple she didn’t let me and my siblings get as kids (HPV, Varicella, Hep A) but for the most part we were up to date on our stuff However, she was always a fear monger A lot of it rubbed off on me without realizing and I started crying in the doctor’s office when they asked if I wanted the first Covid vaccine because I was so scared I’m fully vaccinated now (and am working on the ones I didn’t get as a kid) thanks to this video I regularly come back to it when that fear starts to creep back in From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this

I have never been against vaccines The only line I draw with vaccines is when you have to take 6 of the same vaccine within a year in 2023, despite technology being as advanced as it is, or when cheap vaccines have murcery or lead in them (I highly doubt the validity of these metals in vaccines, please do research on the vaccines you plan to take, and always check credible sources, not your Facebook page ran by psychotic parents who believe mental disorder was caused by the internet and not the amount of lead paint and gas they inhaled as children)
