Curtis Johnston
My daughter's fiancé at the time was a welder working at SpaceX It was a wonderful company to work for They treated the employees very well, until the day they had finished all their work and laid off everyone in a single day They were not up front when they hired everyone at the beginning that this was what they were going to do It was a cowardly move on the part of SpaceX management I appreciate Tim Dodd's enthusiasm, but SpaceX is no different from Walmart, Amazon or Meta when it comes to employment practices
Comment from : Curtis Johnston

Josh Wright
Lex, i never gave you credit before, but over the past few weeks ive really grown to appreciate your podcasts Thank you for what you do and please continue to do great things!

Catching bits and pieces, but this man does not want to be the first to use starship to go “orbit” the moon That businessman who bought the tickets rather artist/creatives die than his own family This man would rather just go to space in already developed/tested aircraft rather than a new rocket Not the human for this task
Comment from : Vi

Artin T
Lern a lot from Tim in last 3 years
Comment from : Artin T

Michael
No way Dodd, Moon Landing is not the same as Mars Landing Mars has stronger gravity than our Moon, which means on Mars it needs more energy and maneuverability to land on
Comment from : Michael

Darkmaga1776
They can only go into low earth orbit lmaooo

Anyone running for President should run the Fridman marathon Screw the intellectually insulting debate format
Comment from : Conservative Mike

artificial gravity, thank about it we use it every day it's called Excelleration when you hit the gas pedal you can accelerate at one or any G, and by hiring the brake pedal you also are accelerating at one or any G spinning not necessary just accelerate at your desired G
Comment from : David Wyatt

I have attempted to meditate many times in my life and prior to this CD the only success I've experienced is with live guided meditation wwwyoutubecom/post/Ugkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq This is the first CD I've used that cuts through my unmedicated ADHD and enables me to truly relax and experience a quiet and energizing interval The instructors voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to I am easily able to sit successfully through the entire CD, and for quite some time after I cannot adequately express how tremendously helpful this CD has been on my spiritual journey!! Two thumbs up and 10 stars!

Great talk! I do feel like there's a bit of an opposition between getting "common people" engaged in science, and qualifying and adding caveats to what you're saying On the one hand you've got the scientists in Don't Look Up and the expert witness in the OJ trial, who fail to convince people bc they're adding in their uncertainty in a way that can be hard for ppl to really comprehend On the other hand, you have the "ALIENS!" dude and Avi Loeb (too harsh? maybe, but he has said several times that the astronomers should've barged into the White House screaming "OMG we're totally going to see ET with this thing!!!!!!11!!") There's a lot of middle ground, and we really REALLY need to find a Goldilock's zone within that Otherwise real science will be totally swallowed up by sensationalism and/or denialism

@40:15 The problem is in every collaborative I stepped into another job, with a company that feels like a startup, how the company have workers record their working hours by repeat typing each job they did out every month is just one of many issues bugging me, it's totally unproductive and old fashioned and insane by todays standards They were not taking advantage of data systems to do the work for collating data, and calculating hours As this problem was really bugging me, I knew there had to be a better way, I watched video after video on and learnt Excel, I also got some aid from Chat GPT too, to help with some of the formulas, but now I've built a spreadsheet that will save hours every month I knew there was a better way, it seems you have to stick with your idea, keep building on it and refine it, until you can demonstrate it to convince the, person(s) stuck doing something the past way

For long-term space travel, I would recruit sailors that lived on submarines We need a couple of pilots, but the rest could be engineers and techs that worked on subs

Bob Lazar is a story that's extremely hard to believe, but so far, I've only seen people come up with information that made his story harder to believe I haven't seen anything that proved he made it up If I can't prove it false, that doesn't mean it's true Conversely, if I can't prove it's true, that doesn't make it false

Throughout history, governments have caused war and division, not people The average person has no problem working together on a worthy goal Fortunately, governments change Leadership in Russia and Ukraine will change, and peace will happen again France, Spain, and England were at war with each other many times The USA has been at war with England, Germany, and Spain multiple times Right now, we're friends for the most part Space will bring about peace and joint activityif some power-hungry politician doesn't get involved
Comment from : TexanUSMC8089

TexanUSMC8089
To put it crudely, we all die eventually I remember when the first shuttle exploded I would have volunteered for the very next flight I'm not a daredevil or adrenalin junky, but I have been a huge space fan forever I would love to go to space, even if it meant there was a chance of failure I would rather die on a rocket than die in a bed from cancer I would take Tim's place on this flight to the moon in a heartbeat
Comment from : TexanUSMC8089

TexanUSMC8089
Since this video was released, Starship has reached about 130,000 feet The main thing that failed was the hydraulic system This was also the last booster with a hydraulic system The newer model has an all-electric system Hopefully, this will eliminate that problem, and the next launch will make orbit In my opinion, Starship is the next big step in rocket technology and will make all other rockets obsolete
Comment from : TexanUSMC8089

TexanUSMC8089
A general IQ is less important than certain sections of the IQ test A person can have a 120 IQ but test in the top 1 for math or geometry Those people might excel in specific jobs like engineering but suck as an English lit teacher LOL I had an official IQ test It takes 4-6 hours, given by a psychologist, and has nothing to do with knowledge or education Memory is huge
Comment from : TexanUSMC8089

TexanUSMC8089
Most of the time I agree with Tim, butwhen he said Musk buying Twitter wasn't that impactful, I disagree Elon saw that about 95 of the media in the USA was owned by 5 Corps He may have saw that as a problem and bought Twitter even though he didn't really want to get into social media He believes in freedom of speech for everyone Even if they say things you don't like In the long run, Elon Musk may have extended freedom in the USA

Alan Rogers
Thanks for this episode Tim knows his stuff, and expresses himself just like a "good" teacher One who inspires his students so that they want to know more, over and above what is in their textbooksbrWhen speaking about Elon, unfortunately, many people are just "rubbed the wrong way" by him Whether as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, or just due to his radical" ideas, there are a number of people who just don't like him, or his companies That said, in my opinion, Elon is a certified genius Just look at his wide range of interests, and expertise in so many different fields brAs Tim noted, when Elon couldn't buy a rocket for love or money, he read up and made his own Want an electric car, when no company is making one, read up, find some like-minded people, and make your own Finding out all the pitfalls found along the way, (which every new car company fell victim to), led him to start vertically integrating, so soon, except for the batteries, (which he is working on), they will make everything in-house except the tiresbrBuying Twitter should not have made Tesla stock go downhill, but, again, so many conflate Elon with the companies he runs He is one person and should be thought of as such That guy over there, he just bought something So what?brAs Tear-Down Titan Sandy Munro frequently says, "Don't bet against Elon, you'll lose"
