I love your videos they are straight to the point and very informative However I've been having lots of difficulty keeping and breeding ghost shrimp I get from the pet store I set up a tank with gravel and a small sponge filter like you said and put in java moss However, lots of waste buildup happens in gravel Do you ever clean the gravel? My shrimp die and I can't figure out why It tends to happen after like a 10-20 water change The water is dechlorinated and left in the same room for at least a day to match temperature before it gets added to the tank I'd rather top off water but the water gets dirty and debris can be seen floating I want to give it more light for my floating plants to stop turning yellow/pale but algae immediately takes over the tank and suffocates the little java moss that I have Lastly my shrimp tend to develop small white dots at the head or all over the body Please help 🙏 Comment from : Heartson Channel |

I paid $6/shrimp for red cherries in the USA from my local pet store and because of how fast they are I thought they’d survive in my short body fancy goldfish tank they had swords and many other plants to hide in, glass bottle, rocks and many other things to hide in and they were all gone within 3 days worst $70 I’ve spent on the hobby so far and it sucks those pretty shrimp died I was hoping they’d breed faster than they were eaten so I’d have a constant 20 or so of them and they provided super natural food for the fish when they were caught here or there but the fish annihilated them but all of this being said I want more and for $1/ I’d buy 100 I think but I’d want mostly females if possible at least 50/50 worst case because I want to start breeding them I can get 10 gallon glass tanks new for $15-$18 USD and sponge filters for under $10/ I can get one $50 air pump that will run 12 10 gallon tanks easily and so on Comment from : King Arthur |

The shrimp won’t care but dont plastics when subjected to long use of water seep it’s chemicals into your water column? I’m not saying this is by any means an awful set up I’d honestly probably set up my own breeding program like this for start up but honest question doesn’t the plastic not hold up to water/affect water quality? Because I know I can put the wrong type of rock in my aquarium and it’ll seep metals minerals into the water that cause detriment way before any positives just curious Comment from : AZ_STREET_WALKER |

Richard, you did an awesome job with this video I am retired and want to turn my aquarium hobby into a side gig selling shrimp and dwarf Mexican crayfish to local retailers here in Dallas You have given me some great ideas for setting up a small breeding operation using simple plastic tubs This one idea alone will greatly reduce my initial costs for setup In addition, you answered many of the questions I had regarding water quality management You made me realize I was initially trying to overengineer the expansion Keep up the great work Comment from : Al Qahira |
My first shrimp i bought, i knew it was my haste in adding them to my tank that was the issue when my borneo suckers managed to escape i learnt that im keeping my water level too high Sadly in this hobby losses and sickness is how we learn The store i get my animal stock from is a great store with clean tanks with healthy animals and plants its family run and they are friendly and willing to help and teach people if they have issues so i really dont blame the store still have their shrimp in my tank now that its aged a little and they are doing fine berried up after just a week Comment from : Pillsnpie Gaming |

i want to do the same but will use a sponge filter as i believe they provide some excellent grazing area for shrimps Comment from : Pillsnpie Gaming |

Hi Richard, I've been recently following your videos and enjoying them quite a lot Congrats on your very informative and straight to the point approach to your videos Can I ask you if you run an established business (VAT number, taxes and all that) or do you sell only through personal contacts through your website, EBay, etc? Whatever the case, what would you consider to be the great advantages in each model? Thanks and wish you all the success Comment from : Helder Sanches |

Thanks for this series! I just bought 6 10 gallon tanks for shrimp breeding They were only 1250 on sale at local pet store I ordered 20 bloody Mary’s, 20 blue dreams and 20 green jades Several arrived dead and a bunch have died since I don’t think I lot my tanks cycle enough and my ph showed to be high I’m sick but just going to wait till spring to try to get started better brI’ll be looking forward to the next videos! Comment from : Chaplain Reece |
The breeding tubs are smart! Way more accessible and easier to maintain with this setup I think the greatest difference I've seen between your method from others is swapping out a sponge filter for an air stone, but I'm guessing because you have so much moss in there there's more than enough biofilm for babies and adults The latter part of the video is the best business adviceso true about making sure the odds of DOA are low to zero The hardier, the better! Comment from : carmahdee |
Richard, you are on fire with another quality video Thank you for sharing shrimp breeding/selling wisdom brIt doesn’t have to be fancy, it just needs to work brNow I’m looking at my 3 40L red/yellow/blue tanks with $ signs in my eyes lol Comment from : Rui Dad Gmail Canada |
With all due respect to be selling 1000 cherry, 400 yellow, and 150 blues, you must have more than 6 x 25ltr tubs I'm happy your wife sells with you Mine, on the other hand, well, she says my amanos remind her of spiders so I feel this video was more of a repeat to the other 300 videos I've watched, but you did offer an insight into something I didn't expect I'm also from the UK Wales to be exact I feel like driving to where you live with a pen and notepad rather than wait for videos 😅 Thank you for your efforts so far sir Comment from : deltoid4 |
Such a great and informative video It's so true selling $1 to $3 shrimp gets the quantity of sales over high end $50 shrimp Love the breeding tub idea, great video and can't wait for the next one Comment from : RW Aquarium Pages |
Thank you for answering so many of my questions in one place! Comment from : Alex S |
Goodmorning sir Richard I've been keeping my yellow golden back shrimps for a few weeks now, and they seem to be not breeding at all Maybe it is because I'm just hasty and I should give them some more time? How long is the process between the maturation of shrimps to be capable of breeding and how long does it take for the eggs to hatch? Thank you so much! 😊brbrYour e-book guide has been a very good source of info for my shrimpkeeping Comment from : Randoggie |
