I breed guppies and cherry shrimp in the same tank but I also have bred mystery snails in that same aquarium I grow java moss, valisneria, dwarf sagitaria, and ludwigia I sell about 50 bucks of plants a month out of that tank and 30 dollars worth of shrimp 80 bucks of month from that tank It's strange It was my first ever aquarium It's gone through all the stages with me and for some reason it's the biggest moneymaker for me and because I have it scaped so well with plants it's my free marketing I don't waterchange it either I test it monthly and the plants pretty much destroy all the nitrates It stays a little below 5ppm I water change it just for good measure every month or 2 but it doesn't need it Comment from : Animal Addiction |

I do not comment on YouTube videos However, dude you deserve to be paid for this info This may not be what everyone wants to hear, but it's worth it's weight in gold! I raised fish as a kid, stopped for various reasons want get fish just for fun and as pets in my adulthood again What I took from this ( I took many things) Think about the customer, what would the they actually buy and also just how much would they realistically be paying brAlso what looks cool to you may just not look cool to the public I also relate your video to other businesses ( I work in the food industry and I am now planning to start my own small enterprenuer dream ) The real world experience, advice and business sense you got and give is way better than some fancy pants MBA business guy! Please more business related videos!!!!! They are the bomb! Comment from : Sharon Costello |

Another thing to ask instead if what will you buy is, "what do you want more of but have trouble getting that is breedable?" Comment from : Lacy Fins |
best advice for new breeders, breed two types of fish minimum Whatever you choose for profit and something you love Comment from : Lacy Fins |
I've been building a good business relationship with my local fish store guy and trade in my extra molly fry for things I need for my tank just to cut back some of the cost of owning an aquarium I've only got one tank and when my fish drop 50+ babies a month, it's good they have somewhere to go so my tank doesn't get overrun lol Comment from : Vanissa Berg |

Years ago (1991-95) I was breeding blue/black metallic guppys and black veil angels I was selling my guppy pairs for $2-3 a pair, and my quarter size angles for $1-2 a pc, and nickel size angels for about $75 a pc Had about 6-8 local stores (within 60 miles) I sold to Wasn't going to make a living that way, but was nice for it to be able to pay for itself Comment from : Bryan Simmons |
Guppies have done and sold before but this time that is a side hobby while I focus on blackneon tetras blackruby barbs and trying for a 3spot gourami colour morph not found commonly the gourami might be difficult but is far more for me than money if I can make back the cost of my setup over the next 10 years I will be happy and if I don't I don't care cause I have an tropical aquarium again and the base of my outdoor frog tank split as I was writing this is 7:34 so will drain it tomorrow and check the damage might be able to repair may have to rehome my frogs for a while Comment from : LostSoulNexus |
Another tip I may add Always always get 20 long instead of 20 high if you breed in 20G (small ops) 20 long gives you more room and more “space” for double / triple duty I do guppy + pearl weed /moss / frogbit + shrimp I don’t even do shipping and I made about 20- 50 a wk just from Facebook marketplace with 2 tanks Time spent on tank is about 10 mins a wk doing wc and trimming Comment from : Josh Ding |
Wow i was gonna try to breed discus guess not any more Comment from : KeepItBrief89 |

You would actually make more breeding Oscars than tetras Tetras are $3 or $5 fish, Oscars can sale for $10+ Comment from : Kuntry-Swagg |
Delightful and informative! I have been watching a ton of your videos, because I have not had fish for a long time, but am planning to get a couple of fish tanks for two reasons: I like watching them--especially neon/cardinal tetras, and because I love using the stuff that I vacuum out of the sand occasionally/and the tank water when I put in new clean water to feed my house plants My houseplants THRIVE on the stuff! Your videos are always very informative, and you speak my language You are very kind and read Now you have just opened a new fun reason to have fish--I can sell a few to a lovely fish store! How very fun--and it will pay for my quality fish food that I will be buying! Last time I had neon tetras they were giving birth to live babies! I didn't even know they would do that! Su very fun!!!! Moss, shrimp and my beautiful neon and/or cardinal tetras! Perfect!!! Great for me at home, and great to provide healthy fish, etc to others! Thank you very much for being such a sharing, caring man/shop owner Comment from : Lynda Evans |

Why do people keep saying guppies are okay with cherry shrimp I just fed them a $15 dollar meal Guppies like to pick at the bottom alot and if the shrimp is small enough or the guppy is big enough it's gonna eat it! Comment from : HYPE LOGO |
I started keeping fish for the enjoyment Breeding was a challenge, interesting and fun I didn't think about selling until I started having a lot of success breeding and getting a lot of offspring I first was just giving them away, but as I started accumulating aquariums, and the resultant large number of offspring I now have to start selling them just to get rid of them and pay for the food, supplies, water and electricity My goal was to break even, making a small profit was a pleasant surprise As I approach retirement it seems like a good way to spend my time doing something I enjoy and making a little money is a great bonus Comment from : Texasbiology |

This is an old video and i really really hope you see this comment!brI would like to start breeding smaller fish, but I would like to breed outside and ideally all year roundbrI live in the UK and in my area the average low winter temp is as low as 1C (34F!) and I imagine the tubs would regularly freeze over I don’t want to breed goldfish Is there anything that could handle those lows? Would that even be too cold for something like white clouds? Comment from : Tom Backhouse |
Guys, making YouTube videos are more profitable than breeding fish I guess he can earn at least $10 per thousand views So this video (320 thousand views) can bring him $3,000 Sharing how you breed fish will bring you more money than selling the fish themselves Comment from : Shusen Wang |

OMG I was that angelfish guy 15+ years ago! I was focusing on premium strains and it was harder to move them If I'd just been breeding "mutts", which is what my local customers were moving and were asking for, I could have handled those volume sales My yields with the premium angels was too good but very few aquarists were buying those premium fish from the local shopsbrbrSo yeah, I could make $2-$5 per fish on quarter size fish but I had a hard time moving them all if I was yielding 200-500 fish per weekbrbrIn retrospect, I would have been better off moving junk angelfish at $1 a pop I would have been in it for less money, and I would have been moving more product more easilybrbrThere's a lot of hard-earned wisdom in this video Comment from : TerraMagnus |
