Probation took property from my brother My brother successfully completed Georgia's First Offender Program At the end of his probation, his rights were restored and now he stands before the law as never having had committing a crime Probation did not issue a receipt for the property when taken The property was eligible for return at the completion of probation After several weeks of searching, probation notified him that it appeared that his property was irretrievably lost This property included many family heirlooms My lawyer informed him to sue the officer and make the agency a co-defendant, though she didn't say how I'm a former CO, and I have seen CO's, including a lieutenant, have their pay docked because they lost, or couldn't account for, inmate property I know that this is serious, in my brother's case ( actually, it involves our whole family ) because the items are irreplaceable Any advice would be appreciated
