The internet in Summersville is spotty at best Frontier is not that dependable and Shentel is never that reliable How do I know? I grew up there
Comment from : Jay Hudley

Avacado McFurrpants
Summersvulle SUCKS Raised most of my life there School is alright, but almost everyone is a drug addict, or in recovery Summerville regional is CRAP with lots of misdiagnoses, and/or not caring at ALL Wifi is crap there as well Has the nickname "Spee Trap of WV" and for good reason
Comment from : Avacado McFurrpants

Robert Cheslock
As long as those interested in moving here DO NOT bring their politics with them One down side is lack of a few necessities With the deep mining if you do not always have the option of deep wells for water if not near a town Same goes for gas, electric service and sewage Just don't come here expecting big city life
Comment from : Robert Cheslock

mike scarlett
Hell there is nothing there and everyone and thing is broke Not me

Edward Stroko

Trey Bodkin
Please… anyone watching this video considering Elkins… don’t I was born and raised there and yes, it used to be an amazing little town! However, over the years, it has turned into a dump 7000ish people and half of the town is on drugs Nowhere to work, the internet connection is garbage and the people are bottom of the barrel
Comment from : Trey Bodkin

daggy174
It always amuses me that pretty much any documentary or travelogue video that centers around WV is scored by bluegrass Nothing against it, but there's a lot more music associated with the state Let's not forget that the Nountain State has birthed world-class rock, metal and alternative acts like Byzantine, Zao, Wrathchild America and Karma To Burn Whether you like black metal, folk-rock or crust-punk, you'll find music you'll love in Wedt Virginia!
Comment from : daggy174

My dearly departed Dad was originally from Oakland, MD and he joined the US Army at 19 Several of his assignments were in WV--In Morgantown (WVU), Wheeling, and Beckley and I have cousins who live in Terra Alta and some other small towns by there Well, we ended up in Phoenix when I was in high school and I have hated it ever since but my dad loved it, ugh But now he's with the Lord and I'm trying to get my mom to pack up and move back to WV since now we have nothing holding us back from moving back I'm hoping we can get to one of these towns soon

So if you are past your working years and ready to retire, live a simple life, start a small farm and live outside the city living in small towns in WV are great If you are still working or have a family the reason the homes are cheap is because there very few big companies that are here to support occupations that pay well That’s why the homes are cheap, population is small and no crime is because no one is here All these towns are barely surviving unless they are close to a big city like Weirton,WV being close to Pittsburgh,PA With low paying jobs and a small tax base the info structure of these cities will never grow (new parks, better roads and new development) The video paints a great picture but only for a small segment that is either retired or prepared to commute to work Most of these small towns were staying robust when coal mines supported additional jobs in neighboring towns with regulations driving high cost and closing good jobs these towns are disappearing Just know what you are getting into…but turning back you can’t ask for a nicer, more beautiful place to live a simple farm life than the roads of WV Take me home baby
Comment from : Wave Warrior

Dudes killing me adding S to Morgantown n leaving the S off Summersville
Comment from : shamus berry

Comment from : Jerry Abston

Peter Hill
Dear Mr Briggs, get in you car immediately and drive to Lewisburg WV This will allow you the chance to find out what a grave error you made in overlooking one of the coolest small towns in the USA let alone West Virginia On the long drive home you may ponder over this misdeed, but do not write a retraction We don't want a swarm of outsiders moving in and spoiling what we have
Comment from : Peter Hill

James M
I was curious as to where MY town sat relative to the National average in crime873 below the national averageSo Shepardstown is STILL higherlol AND! I have ski areas, snowmobile trails, gorgeous scenery, moose, deer, bearfishing yeah I'll deal with the -33F and 6 months of wintermaybe
Comment from : James M

James M
AhhhhElkinsNow where have I heard that name before?brbrOh yes!brbrThere have been reported sightings and encounters with a creature known as the "Elkins Dogman" in and around Elkins, West Virginia The creature is said to be a large, bipedal canid, resembling a werewolf or a large wolf on two legs
Comment from : James M

James M
soYou're a realtor So it makes SENSE to promote this state
Comment from : James M

Too lazy for a decent name
People in the comment section say they love the state because they been to only the Eastern Panhandle, which can be considered Virginia-lite in my eyes
Comment from : Too lazy for a decent name

d0ink
I've been to hinton and summersville a lot, and what I can say is that summersville is good but the party scene there is kinda livid and can get rowdy sometimes Hinton on the other hand is full of the nicest people I've ever met, yet they are so incredibly weird It's like they were cut off from the rest of west virginia and grew their own community
Comment from : d0ink

P & J Poston
Don't play into the "Stay Away From Baltimore" crap Yeah, there are some rough neighborhoods, but I've been going to the Inner Harbor/Fells Point area for decades and have never seen a cross word passed Compressing people in a High Poverty Area (thanks Capitalists) has a bad effect on anyone When the UltraRich moved all the jobs to China it pushed many hardworking folks into poverty through no fault of their own So, while Mitt Romney has $500,000,000 stashed overseas, rememberhe's religious
Comment from : P & J Poston

HackHunter1835
Its Morgantown, not "Morganstown" Wv Lets go Mountaineers!

Here because it came up in my recommended (probably because of a ton of research I've done in areas there)brWe were supposed to move to Morgantown last year but plans fell through because my hubby got offered a promotion & a pay rise he couldn't turn down brWe wanted to be in WV thanks to Fallout 76 but his work doesn't have a branch there I'm still determined to one day get there :)brbr@05:18 It's Morgantown not Morganstown - when you get the name wrong, it kinda lessens credibilitybrbrYou're making it seem as though you're a well travelled person of the area but I doubt you are All your images are just shots from Google rather than actual photos you've taken You're misleading/inaccurate
Comment from : xangiexdx

Comment from : Nathanial Hoge

Born in Charleston and my childhood home is Nitro I grew up there and graduated from HS in 1981 shortly after I moved to NC where I graduated from UNC and taught school there for 20 years and I am right back in Nitro now with my mother I guess until I take my last breath It’s boring as hell and absolutely nothing to do besides enjoy this amazing internet lol 😂 it’s history is truly amazing and WWI the reason for its name where chemicals for war ammunition was made Every different ethnicity that you can name
Comment from : JanesBlonde007🔫

Thanks for this, as I'm considering moving to WV Passed through it a number of times, and always thought it was so very pretty only real improvement would be to have bserious/b mountains there! Got to blovin'/b the Rockies, having spent a goodly chunk of the summer of '06 driving through/around MT & CO & WY!!
Comment from : Eric Awalt

vjd
I sure love driving through WV And love the look on peoples faces when I tell them how beautiful of a state it is The only thing is that a strong majority of towns are dirty and run down and the poverty is unreal Seems hard to make an actual turnaround when there are no jobs, as much as I would love to see it
Comment from : vjd

RED_800
I wonder why the crime rate is low
Comment from : RED_800

beserkergang
If you are seriously looking at WV here is a tip from a local Don't live next to a river Dont live next to a creek As a matter of fact dont live next to a small trickle of water You will get flooded Check to make sure that you have at least one way of driving to a town without crossing a waterway Always keep gas for your car and generator Have a source of heat that doesn't require electricity Some winter storms knock out power and block roads Some storms in the summer knock out power and wash out bridges and roads Don't have large trees next to your house They can fall on it How do I know? All of this happened to me Other than that, it's a great place to live
Comment from : beserkergang

Shellyz2u
I'll bet you live no where close to WV

Caution if you have a health condition We were traveling on Rt 33 I was told they had a customer who had a heart attack the previous weekend They called for an ambulance The dispatcher to them to load him into a car and try to make it to the hospital The other ambulance was engaged on the other side of the county!

Comment from : Burnt Reynolds

Frank Cline
You're not telling the people the truth about West Virginia Why leave out the pill heads who outnumber the working class so bad that any company that comes here only hire out of state workers Not to forget about the women who line up beside the road waiting on a dealer to roll in You never know how many vehicles coming toward you, that the driver isn't seeing three or four roads infront of them That's why the favorite saying is; the West Virginia mateing call is the sound of a pill bottle being shook The Governor we have now (Jim Justice) is a joke, a coal mine operator who won't pay his workers half the time The local judges are on the drug dealers payroll This state has become a slum pit with the future falling further and further away
Comment from : Frank Cline
