First congratulations on your success Daniel As an unpublished first-time author, I have pushed any thoughts of money into a dark place, only to be thought about after I had finished my project (a four-book series) As for the money, the bottom-line numbers have always been a mystery to me What kind of money can an author really hope to make? Honestly that's horrible, this guy has a pretty big YouTube channel (Free marketing and additional profits) so all those numbers are inflated Imagine if you're just a normal author? You'd get paid below minimum wage for the same amount of work

Daniel, I seem to recall a while back you mentioning you either had an idea for or were working on a sort of horror story set in 1700s America with the settlers and explorers of the new world bumping up against monsters in this unknown realm Did I imagine that? It sounded like such a cool idea and I'd definitely want to check that out Almost like Alien/Aliens but in the early settler days Thanks for all the great content!

Big congratulations on your success, and I applaud your transparency When I started self-publishing, back in 2008, there were no ebooks, or YouTube, and I definitely had zero in the way of platform, but it turned out okay As a hybrid author, I obviously know a lot of people in both ponds (traditional and self) and I do think that the self-publihsed authors are having an easier time of producing livable income than those in traditional In any case, keep up the great work - and enjoy the townhouse - you deserve it

I think that it's not boasting Getting through as a writer is very hard, and in this day and age Youtube is a valid way to expand your community Not everyone has the NYTimes backing them Not everyone has journalists writing reviews and articles For people who might naturally have the charisma to make it through Youtube and put in the time to scale that channel, and better than average writers, I think seeing a video like this helps It shows that this is a way to market indie-published books In that sense, that's transparency
