The only issue with pivot turn is that you simply cannot do it when you are new to the sport We all learn different way so I guess it's always after at least couple of hours of experience that you can change your feet stance on the board They are also other techniques to turn faster even for novice ppl so they should be mastered first

Good advice but on an inflatable board it is very difficult to climb on from deep water because they are so bouyant , practically impossible from the side as board doesn't sink but can flip over on top of you, stern is best but practice in safe conditions!
