The idea of a truce between the two was great, but the fact that Megatron should have gone to Cybertron and Optimus would have stayed on Earth doesn't sound totally right brFirst, what would Megatron have done? Started a new "reign"? Whith what purpose? Rule the new Cybertron not tolerating any opposition? If they had made him say something like Megatron in TFP, that would have been way more impactful and deep something along the lines of "I now understand the meaning of oppression and I've lost my taste for inflicting it on others" Saying he wants a truce doesn't entail any good thingsbrbrSecond, how did Optimus intend to create some kind of Transformers quarter on earth? I doubt humans would have permitted that At the beginning of the second movie they were already hinting at the possibility that the transformers might have been a danger to Earth Now that was wrong, but that's what they were thinking brbrOriginal ending didn't seem possiblebrbrThe ending we got was a bit better, because Megatron came back in the following moviebrbrDamn it, Bay could have solved the conflict making a final movie with Unicron and make the saga end like the series Transformers PrimebrbrInstead, we got an unfinished sagabrbrDamn, THAT makes my blood boilbrbrAnd stop comparing Optimus and Megatron with their comic/other TRF series counterparts brThese are Bay's movies You can like them or not, but you can not dislike them cuz they are differentbrbrI know that Prime from these movies is a bit different from Prime in Transformers Prime series for example, but just accept it I noticed too he's not so inclined to show a lot of mercy towards the Decepticons, but in the movies Decepticons are not depicted in a deep way either They seem killing machines with little to no purpose other than killing and gain power Megatron never make deep speeches like in TRF Prime There's ab abysmal difference between those two Megatrons, and I undoubtedly prefer Megatron from TRF PrimebrSo, in Bay's universe, I don't find Optimus killing them without much thinking a bad thingbrI'll admit yes that certain quotes from Prime right before giving the final blow where not absolutely necessary, (they were meant by the producers to create certain vibes) but that doesnt "justify" you defining Prime a merciless killing machines You all out of your mind? brHe forgave humans even too much, honestly brbrI do think that maybe there could have been some kind of deep speech btw him and Sentinel, not just you betrayed yourself But it's well known that long deep speeches are not a constant in Bay moviesbrbrI disagree with both those who say Prime is a killing machine and also those who call snowflakes the others who think he's too violentbrbrPERSONALLY, I simply would have not made him say certain quotes But that's all Honestly, I like his character I repeat, it's CONS who are shown as mere violent killing machines The old airplane guy being the only exceptionbrIt's producers fault, not Prime'sbrYou would deal in the same way with thembrEnd of discussion

It feels off for Optimus to literally single-handedly beat Megatron so quickly But part of the conflict was preventing Cybertron from being transported So this ending only works if Sentinel succeeded in transporting Cybertron to earth; albeit if Megatron could rebuild Cybertron by himself, why was he even around for 3 films straight on Earth? Tf is Optimus gonna do to help Megatron? Give him resources that werent his to give? Cybertron is roughly 60x the earth’s size Aint no way Earth resources can rebuild cybertron and remain stable for humanity And this is excluding the space/physic/gravitational problems of having a gigantic planet so close to Earth in the first place Also ig Michael Bay rly liked this ending so much he made it happen in TF5

Ngl I feel like this movie is one of those where imo both endings could workbrbrOn one hand, Prime sparing Megatron would definitely be more in character brbrBut one the other hand, Megatron puts Hitler to shame if you think about the amount of war crimes he committed (especially since they been at war for more than a few millions of years, so imagine how many cybertonians Megatron and the Decepitcons have slaughtered during their war before their arrival on Earth)
