Truepanion is the true rip off They are 3x more exoensive than any companies because they can get away with it If you have a good rainy day funds , don't bother

Stay away from Lemonade I got it for my cat, and when I needed to use it, they went back into her entire medical history to find anything that could be used as a pre-existing condition to deny the claim At that point, I realized that they would never cover anything and cancelled the insurance

I would not recommend Nationwide pet insurance Worst experience with pet insurance provider I have ever had I will be sure to never recommend them to any friends or family Billed me for almost 6 months for my Dog George, and when I finally needed to use the insurance I had to jump through 50 hoops only to get denied on some BS Do you research and find a more reputable provider

The bottom line is don't get a pet unless you can afford it An average dog can cost 50k over their lifetime Too many abandoned pets in shelters because people are stupid

I have had pet insurance for 2 years know for my shepherd and is totally worth it I compared everything single company on the US Market and healthyPaws is the most affordable and they have paid every single claim within a week or less!brbrPRO TIP I Learned from research: send in all medical records and history and get a full physical before your pet ever gets sick, so when you file a claim they can’t denied anything because you have proven that it was healthy before brbrThat’s what most people that complain and leave bad reviews don’t get! If you have no prior medical history you can’t prove it’s not a pre-existing condition and they will take any opportunity not to pay, just as any other human insurance So be smart, and don’t give them the opportunity!brbrAnd read the fine print, watch out for the lifetime-cap/ limit when comparing quotes cuz quotes might look similar or cheaper but you might be getting less!brbrIn my opinion healthyPaws is the best because how fast they pay, when you have enrolled your pet correctly, and because they don’t have a lifetime limit!brGood luck in your search 😉

I would like to add a couple of things I've had Healthy Paws pet insurance for my Golden Retriever for about 7 years now Overall, I've been very happy with the insurance However, if you decide to get insurance for your pet, I suggest getting it when you pet is as young as possible I started my policy when my pup was 8 weeks old so any conditions that he has currently would not be considered "pre existing" If you wait until your pet is older, ANY issues that they've gone in to see the vet for previously will NOT be covered (at least through Healthy Paws) Maybe other insurance policies are different so do your researchbrAnother factor to consider is the yearly premium increases When I first got the policy, I believe I was paying less than $20/mo My current premium 7 years later is almost $90/mo so the increase is considerable brI will say that any claims that I have submitted (submitting through the app is really easy) have gone through the review process very quickly! Typically within 5 days so I'm really happy about thatbrSo, I'm happy with the policy overall but make sure you read the policy terms before you decide

Trupanion has a unique setup - you pay toward the deductible ONCE in the lifetime of the pet - but each issue has it’s own deductible (dental / hips / etc)

I think you have to know yourself - like if you aren't going to save $ every month for pet emergencies I have pet insurance on my cat with a monthly $1914 premium with $250 deductible and 80 reimbursement (much cheaper than a dog!) and just spent $3200 on 48 hours in the ER because she chewed up an Advil I was so glad I had pet insurance Even if I add up the 4 years of premiums I've paid plus the deductible I saved a thousand dollars

Health Ins for humans or animals is a RIP OFF scheme 100 On humans you have to have it because no Doc/Hosp will accept you if you don't have insurance or at least $100,000+++ in a bank checking/savings account - and lets face the facts that yes all of us humans who live usually into our 80's are going to need major medical sometime in our life Now the reality of PETS/dogs is quite different They will only live for 12-15 years - if not overbred Vets know this, and have gotten GREEDY over the past decade Seeing what human doctors are getting paid, and they said, "hey we should get paid the same as them!" So they now expect to make $150,000+++ per year caring for our pets Well lets be honest here, REALLY, unless your pet is a working professional, is it really worth it on the longevity cycle to put $9,000 into your pet?? I say no If they get seriously ill, oh well, that is it for them and I'll just get another one - seriously Yes, and don't say it (throw away animals), but come on a rabbit only live for 3 years in the wild if it that lucky, maybe 5 -7 years with humans! Birds are the same They all have short lives and are replaced in nature quickly and efficiently - evolution!

I use Lemonade for dog insurance and a nice benefit is that you are reimbursed almost immediately in some cases and others within a week, so a very quick turnaround That said I think it also depends on where you live If you live in NYC, the costs for vaccines, vet visits, etc are higher in general so insurance tends to cover less of the total I tracked every vet visit expense last year with our Lemonade puppy coverage and ended up saving $190 with insurance (no major accidents, these were all pretty regular check ups/tests/vaccines), so I learned that it would have almost evened out having vs not having Overall I like having the insurance for peace of mind in case a large unexpected event happens
