I dont believe that the new GM truck all with the stupid and hated AFM/DMF are most reliable Most reliable my arse Comment from : hippo potamus |
06 F150 135k miles, engine problems- transmission went at 100k Comment from : J Col |
Is this the same JD Power that has the nerve to say Hyndai Sonata's are reliable cars? I listen to the mechanics not the drivers Comment from : Micscience |
I'm not surprised Comment from : Reggie Smith |
JD Powers is a pay to play and only monitor new reliability Who cares if a car is reliable when the manufacturer will fix everything free I am concerned with long term reliability Only Consumers report monitors it and Toyota is king Comment from : Matthew Huszarik |
Interesting perspective As Economists say though, your results are based on a whole bunch of behavioural assumptions The first is that your sample pool is representative of owners and their experiences - ie you have the same percentage of people that were happy and those that were really unhappy Still its interesting Comment from : Paul Eck |
Honda Ridgeline Rocks Comment from : Clay Howard |
I have a 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage I bought brand new with 4 miles br19 years and 259,000 miles later and it is still running brMy truck came with one option brA/CbrManual transmission and still going strong Comment from : Kris Keilman |
Toyota leads all manufacturers in quality If you can not see that, go ahead and throw your money away Comment from : Lars |
I don't believe anything JD Powers says, what a joke Comment from : Cliff Silverman |
All i know is that chrysler,/ Dodge,/ Ram are garbage throw away trucks I've had them all, and only Toyota is a truck you can rely on Comment from : Marko Tech |
Glad my Tundra made it almost every yr Comment from : WIBOWHunter |
I inherited a 2006 F-150 so thankfully I didn't pay for it Transmission went out at 95,000 miles so that sucked Spark plugs are pain to replace as they tend to seize up in the head It's a labor intensive job I'll likely never purchase another Ford again Comment from : Jason CZ fan |
Toyota Tundra number1 Comment from : Adrian |
The moral of the story, stick with the Toyota for a full size pickup truck Comment from : Kim Le |
I like that you actually do the research and collect the actual data to support all the claims utilizing an actual no bias, no BS approach Comment from : Vincent Muniz |
Toyota Tundra for full size Second is Nissan Titan brbrMidsize is Ridgeline Tacoma and no one for third Comment from : American Dude |
This is still jd power GM money is involved Comment from : BC |
Toyota is the most reliable and I didn’t even bother watching 10 minutes of this Comment from : R L |
The most dependable trucks out on the road are the ones that get serviced properly Except ram lol Comment from : Jose Lomeli |
No question the Tundras have a great drive train and reliability But I tow a travel trailer and I needed a truck with good payload capacity So, I went with a Ram 1500 that has 1735lbs of payload capacity The Tundras I looked at couldn't match that Comment from : Ray Calandra |
JD power awards are purchased by the manufacturers Comment from : 10mmgee20 |
Hmmmmm I just hauled a broke down tundra to the mechanic with my 04 Silverado 1500 with 285,000 miles I slapped my dad's f150 54 Triton around with the same high mileage pickup The f150 has 125,000 and is actually taken care of, unlike my Chevy I've had 4 Silverado/Sierra's and I blew an engine in one and a transfer case in another Keep in mind some guys actually use the little buttons that say 4H, 2H and 4L and that little square thingy on the rear end under the bumper I'm one of those guys so those 2 break downs are a great track record So you and your wife Tammy can get yourself a Tundra so you can go to the bakery and get cakes and pies for your tummy Comment from : Chevy Silver-Ray-Dough |
And the Ford guys a Crying Comment from : Allan Cole |
Most reliable trucks we ever owned, were Chevy full sized with 43 engines and automatic transmissions Over 250,000 miles and zero engine or transmission problems, or rear end or front end, or electrical problems Comment from : Spartaeus |
Tundra is the best 1/2 Ton Hands Down unfortunately I just sold my 2019 Tundra can’t afford to drive it at $10 A Gallon Comment from : Allan Cole |
Would be interesting to see fleet owners results, not just independents Comment from : john Cotter |
The only reason you buy Dodge is for the Cummins And a solid front axle I have a 2013 2 computers went out to the tune of 6000 bucks Plus smaller things like door latches, dash knobs, etc My wife’s 2016 Chevy Duramax 2500 is the most reliable pickup I have ever owned I had a 99 Ford F-350 73 Powerstroke that was pretty reliable 88 F250 Ford and 81 F250 Ford were junk Comment from : Mountain Adventures |
I have owned every truck make except Nissan and I can tell you that the Tundra/Tacoma's are every bit as reliable as everyone says Now as far as these new ones with the V6 duel turbos? I wouldn't buy one for two reasons One the cost to get into one is ridiculous now and two the first year model of a new build always has issues Comment from : Joey Zasa |
Toyota Comment from : Mike Ogden |
Having owned 2 Tundras This is nothing new to me and other Toyota owners I've owned Ford and GMC trucks Toyota's are much better Comment from : Stefanovich Michael |
Honda does not make a truck, Toyota quality, rotten frames, blown engines makes it the worst, JD Power is biased in its reviews based on who buys the most ads to their publications, my GMC 1500 is 23 years old and has never had an internal engine problem and runs better than a new 2022 truck Comment from : may tag |
GM's were even better before that My 02 Silverado is still purring along with 350k on it Comment from : tke 241 |
I have owned a 80 f150 that lasted 150k km a 88 f150 that lasted 180k km a 98 gmc that lasted 300k km and a 08 tundra that is still going strong at 560k km all my other trucks where scrapped when I was done with them I could probably sell the tundra Nuf said Comment from : Ron Kieffer |
You have to factor in cost Bang for your buck, Chevy/GMC wins in my opinion Comment from : 541-RAIDER |
Toyotas are for smart Americans Comment from : Dantheman |
JD Power is a jokeIf you base your opinion on them you're nuts Comment from : Cliff Silverman |

Only thing that pisses me off is them calling Ridgeline a truck (blah blah I know it has a bed etc) It can't join truck gang (had to bring up Ginger Billy when I saw this lol) Comment from : SpudBuilt |
2000 Toyota Tundra 260K Replaced trannie at 160K Other than that, just routine maintenance Looking to buy a new truck and use my existing as an extra Probably another Toyota but will shop around Out west so routinely travel 4+ hours on trips which means the wife's comfort factor is probably going to win out:) This channel has helped Comment from : John S |
Follow the moneythe list is probably a payoff by these manufacturers How can a GM truck win an award, lol Comment from : John Swanson |
Most reliable trucks are Honda and Toyota just like their cars so why all the bs Comment from : Gary Sh |
I’d say a lot of that is the owner behind the wheel GM and Ford owners are not going to buy a Honda or Toyota Those are for the people that think they have a truck but don’t Comment from : Chris Leighton |
Working at ga dot our Ford F-150 v8 are the most reliable they are service right and getting 280 to over 300 thousand miles on them I say that’s pretty good Comment from : Whitetail’s Up |
I was an independent car dealer for years who specialized in trucks Believe me when I say you can find great trucks and lemons from every make out there It has more to do with the care owners gave them than makes or models Comment from : Roy Adamson |
Dodge intrepid Comment from : Iwen Ive |
All we have to do is log onto Car Complaints find out about any vehicle made any year any model to find out the problems they have had Comment from : Randy Simmons |

When was the last time you saw a Hispanic work a Tundra The list goes Ford ,Dodge and will take the Chevy to the grocery store Not racial profiling but if you see a Ford ranger and a Hispanic , you got Ton-to and the Lone Range riding into town and taking care of business Comment from : Travis Johnson |
Even a Chevy could last 3 years…silly survey… Comment from : Matthew Wallace |
I’ve got to agree with those who said this means nothing if the trucks were only 3 years oldJD should contact those owners years later and update the list Mine is 16 years old I’ll rate it on everything from reliability, comfort, to ease of repairs (or lack thereof) Is there a any source of info of trucks after 15-20 years? Comment from : DJ D |
Everyone here needs a reliable truck to go pick groceries and the kids from school Comment from : OJP |
Pffft my Jeep Wrangler is the most reliable truck😉😂 Comment from : Texan EDC Cave |
Toyota’s are known for their dependability and that is why most Toyota owners buy them Most Toyota owners are serious about their maintenance schedule as well Zeke from Kentucky with his F150 probably hadn’t seen fresh oil after 2 years of driving Not to be an ass, but Toyota owners are a different class of people compared to f150 owners I’m a f150 owner and it’s my view that pretty much any vehicle that’s meticulously maintained will be reliable for a very long time Where I work just about everyone has a truck You look into the parking lot, and all the f150’s are covered in mud, and all the tundras look like they have just been polished Just sayin Comment from : Drago Slav |
Guys, you have only TOYOTA toys You don't have the legend Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series Pickup! Comment from : Ibrahim Qari |
Yeah but with the money you save by NOT buying Toyota you could probably swap out a whole new engine and trans in an f150 Comment from : B M |
My 2017 Tacoma had low compression at 40k over 30trips to dealership for cold start pop they could never figure out long story short Tacoma runs lean Also had new carrier assembly due to poor seal in rear differential Out of all 5 Tacoma I have owned every newer version has gotten worse and cost more Comment from : Kyle Rattay |
TOYOTA12brGMC/ CHEVY12brJD POWERS GOT 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 Comment from : Steve DeLeon |
I don’t keep a truck for more than three years because the warranty doesn’t last more than that However, I guess the new Ford Lightning all electric will put an end to that with its 10 year/80000 mile warranty and minimum maintenance schedule Comment from : John Hix |
my full size chevy silverado 2012 1500 4x4 pickup has had no mechanical issues in the 55 years i've had it absolutely LOVE this truck 85 k but has never let me down, it is the BEST truck of the 8 owned Comment from : pitt fitter |
The safest choices are a Toyota Tundra or a Ford V8 F-150 The rest are a roll of the dice It's what is well known by everyone in the business JD Powers is a paid marketing agency They are paid to cherry pick the data I have no trust in them Comment from : Sam Spade |

My father’s Ram 1500 with 475,000 miles and still going disagrees with this list Comment from : CAVlogs121 |
I liked this video alot! I have been doing something similar on my own because we got really screwed by RAM over a 3500 DRW we owned several years ago so I have been keeping a log of awards, recalls (# of recalls + severity of problems) and Consumer Reports data I did this in anticipation of buying another 1 ton truck (any brand but RAM) brbrWhat I discovered is that the amount of problems with all the 1 ton trucks was way more than I cared to pay for so we have not yet purchased anything and I don't think we are going to Instead I have decided maybe a Freightliner M2 or a Sterling might be a better choice than sinking money into "problem pickups"!! We have a 2014 Toyota Tundra as our everyday driver but our future fifth-wheel hauler will more than likely not be a pickup!brbrThanks to the industry for trying to sell us junk at over inflated prices - not buying anymore!brbrThanks for the video - really confirmed what I already knew - appreciate the validation Comment from : Shawn Castillo |
It’s amazing I have friends that have various makes of vehicles and they keep tell me how great their vehicle is on the way to go get it Finally one day I said if your vehicle is that great why I’m I always going to bail you out with my Honda I’ve never made the call “ Come get me my Honda it’s not a real truck is broken “ And by the way REAL trucks come with air brakes Comment from : White Knight |
SHOCKING COMMENT! THIS COMMENT WILL SURPRISE YOU! THIS COMMENT WILL LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS! Good video, but none of it shocked me Comment from : dominik1023 |

2019 tundra !! Comment from : Buster 210 |
I don't understand why anyone would get fired up about these results unless you call bull on GM People who bknow/b expected Toyota to be on top Only ignorant people would not expect this Comment from : Brady Simmons |
My first truck was a 2006 Toyota Tacoma, and i bought it used I beat the shit out of that thing and it NEVER let me down Later on my needs required something bigger so 2019 Tundra it is! Ive had one recall since owning it and was just something simple (dim turn signals) everyone says the Tundra is a dinosaur and that may be But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it I Love it!! 👍 Comment from : Swindy1794 |
My 06 Corolla has 200k miles on it only had to change a ignition coil Comment from : Last Virtue |

As many problems as Chevy/GMC have had it's kinda hard to believe they have that many awards Follow the money seems to me that Chevy/GMC are paying their employees to take the pole Comment from : Jason Hess |
No secret that Toyota engines and components are vastly, as in not even closely comparative in quality to the garbage put into Chevy, GMC, Ford Trucks What Toyota trucks lack is the flexibility and customization that the USA manufacturers vehicles provide Yes a Ford, Chevy, or GMC engine may last 250,000 miles, but you will be repairing and replacing numerous components along the way, not so with the Toyota vehicles Put oil and gas in them, change the timing belts every 100,000 miles and they keep on rolling 500,000 miles on a Tundra is not unusual, there have been several to exceed 1,000,000 miles That is not happening with an F150, Chevy, GMC unless you replace virtually the entire vehicle's mechanicals, motors, sensors, ignition system, exhaust, and electrical system, Comment from : James Michael |
Your awards do not mean anythingbrBest heavy duty trucks 3/4 and 1 ton: Ram Cummins Diesel brBest 1/2 ton full size truck:brToyota Tundra brBest light duty truck:Toyota Tacomajust my 2 cents Comment from : Hot Pepper |
