Hello Dr Izzy, this is a very interesting video! Something that I personally find really cool about the Chinese language is that sometime you stumble upon a new word of two characters You don't know the word but you know the meaning of each of the two characters, so you can kind of guess the meaning of the word by just combining the meaning of the two characters! PS: you wrote noodles wrong, specifically the second character (unless I'm missing something) The correct way of writing noodles is 面条

I tried learning a little Mandarin before a business trip a few years ago I used two CDs and found that some words were pronounced differently but the teachers I tried to ask where the toilet was twice in Shanghi, the first person didn't understand and replied in Shaghaiese, my host corrected me the second time with a completely different pronunciation I'll try your suggestions if I'm going again

Not that it’s essential vocab, but but when i was learning the colors I found out qing (blue-green) is used seemingly more than Lan or Lu Its wild how much you can discover just going through basic pinyin on your own It wont help unless you practice speaking but it gives you a good words to target for study
