Serge Tarasov
"Bu zemeyang" is an interesting one There is a very similar phrase in russian, the question would be "Ti kak?" ("you how" ie "how are you") and the answer is "nikak" With exactly the same meaning, "don't even ask"

It’s not just dictionary translation It’s what I’ve seen in textbooks in the US and I’m Chinese American I went to Chinese school in Chinatown so we used Chinese textbooks from Taiwan But I’ve seen westernized textbooks teach Americans to say No Hao Ma Lol It’s the same when I learn Spanish and I’m being taught some made up unifying Spanish language because Spanish differs in every country Since US is so close to Mexico, they should’ve just opted to teach us Mexican Spanish Oh well

Shana Garrett
I love this! But one question: “You good?” Is a common slang way of asking if someone is alright or if they need something Could “Ni Hao ma” be used in the same way?
Comment from : Shana Garrett

LifesFun
Interesting because my native Chinese (Former) Girlfriend taught me "Nī hăo ma"brbrNotably she was from Taiwan and lived in Hong Kong in her 30's until 1970s so there may be an age / time frame issue brBut hard to believe your 'never' argument

Thanks, I tried to look up "ng" in a Mandarin dictionary and it wasn't there Were you referring to "èn" (嗯)?
Comment from : Bright Idea

AmoebaInk
Honestly saying "How are you?" as a greeting in English is often a poor choice Unless you're both ready to settle in and catch up, just say "Hello" or "Good Day"brbrAsking someone "How are you?" as you blow past them or they're clearly heading somewhere away from you is very rude
Comment from : AmoebaInk

Jose Silguero
Wow in Spanish we used the same concept We short frases to sound natural ❤❤❤

L W
In my opinion, the reason behind “Have you eaten yet?” is people normally go out after meals, so this greeting is a good conversation starter You don’t greet people with it around 10am to 11am, because it doesn’t make any sense
Comment from : L W

I’m a native speaker and at least from my experience and where I’m from we do say 你好吗 to each other and typically is answered with 好 or 还可以。 In informal settings we use 好不好 We use some of the other ones as well but it’s not uncommon to get hit by a 你好吗 after a good morning

Good or not good are indeed adjectives in English but your answer should be ADVERBS to be grammatically correct In English it is incorrect to answer the question How are you? with the response Good One must answer with an adverb, WELL or not WELL or similar If you are to be credible, you must be competent, that is, make as few conspicuous errors as possible
Comment from : Blog Editor

The Garo people, are a Tibeto-Burmese ethnic group inhabiting predominantly in Northeast Indian states of Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and Nagaland, and in some neighbouring areas of Bangladesh Historically, the name Garo was used for wide range of inhabitant in southern bank of Brahmaputra but now refers to those who call themselves A•chik Mande (literally "hill people," from A•chik "bite soil" + mande "people") or simply A•chik or Mande and the name "Garo" is now being used by outsiders as an exonym[4]They are the second-largest tribe in Meghalaya after the Khasi and comprise about a third of the local population
