More than anything I would say it depends on your ranking at the department and the state and city you work for By dad has been an LEO for just shy of 29 years, when adjusted for inflation his starting pay was around 24$ per hour working graves and a good amount of overtime pay was available He climbed the ranks quickly and by his 2nd year he was a sergeant in a city that was really starting to grow a ton By his 7th year he was a lieutenant and making around 65K per year Before he was promoted to police chief 5 year later he was making about 95K in gross revenue per year After being promoted to police chief he started making around 124K per year br brCurrently he makes 151K per year but unfortunately he has recently been tested and confirmed he has Lou Gehrig's disease which is soon going to force him in to put in his time and retire as his body goes down hill

he didn't explain it properly I'll explain it properly police make 2 to $300,000 a year maybe more when I work at the Cerritos Auto Square I sold a lot of cops cars and I had to fill out the credit apps and their credit apps told me close to $170,000 a year and that's 20 years agothis guy is full of it
