I don’t know if you will pick this up, but I am the wife of Angus Ross, whose name appears We live in Spain and I am 66 years old We have lived here for10 years, yet despite going to Spanish class x 1 a week and all my friends being Spanish, I find it very difficult to learn My husband did Latin at school and is quite good We have started watching films in Spanish, is there any other tips you can give me apart from listening and watching your classes over and over 😢

I'd just like to make a comment on the pronunciation of diphthongsbrThanks to the so many different "Spanishes" due to the vast extension where the language is spoken, there are some concessions in the pronunciation of some diphthongs For example, in io the o is accentuated and people do not normally separate them in speech, as the i sound is weak So, dieciocho has three syllables (die-cio-cho), which is the common pronunciation However, if the word is separated in four syllables (die-ci-o-cho), it'll be perfectly understood by a native speaker, but the question "Where are you from?" will be unavoidablebrWith the diphthong iu, the rules are a little bit more permissive Remember that diphthongs must happen in the same syllable That's a problem for native speakers of English, as the spelling rules differ most of the times Veintiuno has three syllables (vein-tiu-no) if the diphtong is respected However, in some parts of the Spanish speaking world, people pronounce it in four syllables (vein-ti-u-no), which is accepted by the Real Academia Española, and therefore, correct brI'm just being picky, I know, but I always correct that to my students I hope this remarks are of some help
