Christine Baranski's a very good, strong actor, but for me, she's had too much exposure in other films and tv shows where portrays characters with that same arrogant tone As a result, I don't find her portrayal of this character to be particularly intriguing I think a more seasoned, lesser known actor (to US audiences) such as Janet McTeer or Alex Kingston may be more interesting

The thing I like best about Fellowes' writing in all that he's done is that there's never a line spoken where I say to myself "s/he wouldn't say that," or "that's too contrived" for the character/situation in question Most things even on, say, PBS's Masterpiece Theatre, (not written by Fellowes, ) seem to always have a few of those clunker moments For example, in the current series "All Creatures Great and Small," as much as I love several of the characters, has some dialogue and situations that just make you shake your head and say "No" In this case, maybe that's partly because I worked as a vet tech part-time during college LOL

It's fascinating to watch this point in history and realize none of the characters' mindsets were “wrong”—the women were right to want things to change and the other women were right that those changes would usher in disasters they couldn't predict Now 100 years later if they could see what has become of the world they would never have yearned for what would soon be the undoing of civilization

It's really sad with all the amazing production they didn't employ a speech expert on the accent of that era They definitely didn't speak modern 21st century American English The actors could have been coached and directed to at least try and do the mid-atlantic accent of the old 20's nd 30's old Hollywood as that mixture of American-British would've sounded more appropriate than the modern American accents they're all using throughout the series! Horridly inaccurate if you ask me and takes away a lot from the fantasy they're trying us to believe!

Tim McGraw is a fabulous actor and even rides like a cowboy I like all of the characters and find it hard to wait for the next episode I was sad when Ennis died 😞 The voiceovers from Elsa are SO poetica valuable part of the series Whoever writes them is an amazing writer! I LOVE Baranski in this role She is wonderful at showing the many rich layers and nuances of her character and manages to add her own brand of snark and humor at the same time She does this the same way Maggie Smith does with Violet in Downton Abbey, though the actresses and characters are indeed very individual
