I just got 18 40ers for face value today from a Chase bank They are worth $6375 melt, so I made $54 on $9 worth of coins Comment from : glennmillerfan |
brit seems if you can sell it to be melted It’s worth stacking Because of the low premium I stacked a crap load of Kennedy’s Who cares about space with low premiums like this ,right ?brbrBut there’s a catch brnobody melts them ? So what good are they ? Comment from : Rokin Randy Raudenbush Jr |
I hit up a bank the other day and asked if they had any rolls of half dollars The woman came out with a hand rolled stack of $10 I checked both ends and there were 1967 jfks I cracked it open and it was all silver I went back in and there were 4 more rolls I grabbed all 4 and they were also silver 3 of them were 90, the rest 40 Comment from : John |

I have a goal of 10,000 Kennedy 40 halves and just about at 5,000 pieces now The coin is easily recognized, probably not counterfeited, and the space to store is not all that much different But the big thing that makes a difference is the premium over spot <<>> So, assuming silver is at $2550 (May 9, 2023), you can spend $10,000 on silver eagles at SD Bullion and come up with about 220 silver eagles, or you can spend $10,000 on Kennedy 40 halves and get 2,624 pieces and 38805 troy ounces brWhen it comes time to sell, silver would necessarily have to move +$15/oz (up to spot price $4050) to approximately breakeven on the silver eagles ((Hope you thought about that, friends)) Meanwhile, at silver spot of $4050, even if the worst buyer will pay spot minus $4 dollars ($3650), you would get $14,16350 for your 2,624 Kennedy 40 halves Comment from : MrBluegrassfiddler |

Climate change obviouslyyy Comment from : Mike Mattson |

With today's prices of $25 spot, bags of 40 silver are working out to $3017 per oz Not a good buy imo Comment from : Jeff Boyajian |

It's a humble coin and has multiple benefits as long as you're a long term investor rather than short term trader for profit Comment from : Anthony Alba |

At least majority of 40 Kennedies are barely circulated but lot of people clean them unfortunately Comment from : Anthony Alba |

Those 40 percent do take up a lotta space I needed more safe so some of them had to find a new home Sometimes the small things get overlooked until the last minute Comment from : Everett White |
Yes The higher silver goes the more demand for 40 Comment from : Ted Lawrence |
Obama gold is worth more but I just love the colors of silver more! I definitely get them when I come across them! Comment from : DJK |
I see 90 walkers is circ condition going for $18 I found a local antique store selling them for 115 But lcs buys them for only 6 So is 115 still a good deal? Comment from : Brandon Underwood |
I’ll stick to hunting and trying to get it for free To me it’s not worth it Even at a lower premium the hassle of storing and attempting to sell large quantities Plus if a shop had a lot of other inventory they may not even want your 40 or be offering way less Just a thought Comment from : Spokane Silver Stacker |
There is so much other desirable silver to buy rather than 40 halves, and it certainly isn't as liquid as 80 and above stuff Comment from : John Mizak |
I stack 50 percent Australian silver for 7 percent premium Comment from : Alan Haz |

Isn’t illegal to deface US currency? You did it three times 😮 Comment from : Bobster986 |
40 seems like an odd and slightly miserable silver content Australian Florins from 1946 to 1963 had 50 (down from 925), and no one collects them for their silver value The sterling ones are sought after however Anything below 80 seems like an undesirable choice Comment from : CatsMeowPaw |
Junk silver is going through the roof! Don’t know much about 40 But I’m all about some BU 90 Comment from : Plumber Stacker |

I think 40 is worth stacking or saving for small transactions reasons might get you a cup of coffee ☕️ - if the spot price of coffee does not go thru the roof! 😂 Comment from : Dougster |
Back when copper was going through the roof, people were asking for the best ways to stack it Well, this is it You're essentially buying silver near spot, and getting copper thrown in for free Comment from : The Real Hawkeye II |
I have good amount of 40 already Comment from : Bam Perry |
Where did you get the little chest? Comment from : New England Mike |
And now the premiums just went up on 40 Kennedys I love all of the info that streamers put out but I believe it is directly causing premiums to increase Spot doesn't really move too much so the premiums are an excuse jack up prices I don't mean to be negative here (and this isn't against SS as he has been quite honest with his opinion of silver) but it seems like the tubers that keep harping silver going $100 already have significant amounts of silver Reddit anyone? We as regular peeps can't affect spot but we can affect premium prices And now SDB is out LOL! Comment from : Bosstone100 |
40 sucks because it costs much more to refine Comment from : Kratos Tomatoes |

my issue with 40 is that resell value and liquidity being much lower, in my area people only buy it by the pound Comment from : kamazarone |
This channel is so dope!!!! Comment from : 1000MillionBillion |
Great info but unfortunately most people don't want it Comment from : all pro |
I recently bought 1 oz bars for 1850 with $484 premium which is more than I want to pay but I'll buy silver per oz as long as it is under 5$ premium Deals are out there and they might be pre ordered but they are out there Comment from : Tony Nguyen |
@Silverseeker where are you located? My local LCS sells generic rounds for $350 over spot And I'm in the tax every thing, communist state of washington lol 😆 Comment from : saint51688 |

40ers vs bars Who wins? Comment from : Chris Picklepants |
Interesting What great information you have provided Thank you so much❤❤ Comment from : Joann L |
I went to bank and ended up getting 11 of them in a search of $50 of half dollars Comment from : The Gmail |
They take up more space, though I guess it's better than just clad Comment from : Paul Richards |
I've had some 40ers that were so bright and shiny they looked clad because of that inner core, but that gouge reveals just how badly the government cheated us in the 60s, and compares to the government doing coin-clipping Comment from : Budget Coin Hunter |
At $1855 spot (JM's Spot) JM Bullion sells them for $637 per dollar of FV, and buys them $514 per dollar of FV provided you sell them $1,000 worth of silver So they are selling it for $304 over spot and buying it for $113 below spot provided you sell them $1,000 worth of silver Comment from : Rufferto |
Does that $623 mean that each 40 silver half is worth approximately $311? And are 1970s worth a little bit more? Comment from : Bob Egan |
Dayummits like you're getting a direct line to my google data I just bought some of Kennedy's and bank rolls Comment from : Clust |
The 40 percenters are not worth it They are very hard to flip them Once you buy them you are stuck with them, again majority of real stackers want know part of them Comment from : Single and Looking |
Great information Comment from : Teacher1388 |

I love stacking 40s and war nickels Comment from : stvnbiz |
My LCS sells 40 at online buy price Also sells 5+ oz bars for $275 over per oz Comment from : Matt Percherke |
I don't think 40 is good for stacking but it can be utilized When Silver hit $30 recently I traded it up for fractional gold So I do believe if used correctly there is definitely an edge you can find It just goes to show the mindset and you're strategy is crucial Comment from : Jimmy Licari |
Ive been enjoying watching your videos for the past year and I recently started my own channel about collecting money and wondered if you could give me a shout out it would mean the world to me your my favorite YouTuber Comment from : moneycollecter2022 |
Do you buy them seeker? Comment from : Erik Bauer |
Now the secret is out Ha That's all I have been buying My LCS always has plenty for me to buy and he is ALWAYS very generous with the price per face It seems like only me and him like it Seldomly I get to score a 40 percent Ike out of his bucket that has a little more silver for the same price as the halves It's silver to me I do concern myself with the overall weight and volume it takes up vs the other silver options, but for the price, I've been able to buy way more silver this route than buying rounds I am trying to stock up my stack I'm a late starter to stacking so I will take what I can get Thanks for the great video as always Comment from : Jeremiah Boyette |
Yep, enjoyed watching the 40 disappear from SD Anyonee remember when SKS rifles were $80? Comment from : j hike |
I wouldn’t buy them, maybe hunt them in rolls instead Especially seeing how the premiums on junk went thru the roofbrbrOn 7/13/22 I purchased a $5 face value role of dimes for $9606 The spot price on that day was $1913brbrToday the spit price is $1837 and the same roll of dime is $11311brbrSpot dropped and the premium went up $17??brbrMake it make sense 🤔brbrI’m done with silver for now It’s become ridiculous Comment from : Kick Rocks |
I have been buying a lot of these halves I keep hearing that silver is silver In this case, the silver is cheaper than most of the other fractional silver that is available And, usually they are pretty nice coins And, its a really good feeling when you have a lot of them Thanks so much for an amazing video Comment from : Ron Bell |
There’s a reason premiums are higher on 90 and pure silver - stackers love them! 40 - not so much Not to mention refineries don’t want the 40 because it’s more expensive to melt Comment from : Astral Club |
I was born in 1969, so I bought a couple rolls to get a few coins from my birth years When silver gets back up to $30 or so I’ll probably sell all the non 1969s Comment from : Chris Phipps |
Ha ha! I forget to hit record sometimes It's annoying to shoot a video and realize you have to do it all over again 😂 Comment from : Constitutional Stacker |

Good info, I bet alot of people including me do didn't know these facts Comment from : LazyboyLarry |
I think on Yankees channel his dealer Tim said something similar Basically he doesn't buy them from customers because his wholesaler requires so much volume to make it worth while to melt it doesn't make sense Maybe other shops are similar 90 is much easier for them of course Comment from : Bane |
Is that ounce weight on 40 half dollars Troy or regular ounces? Comment from : js corbett |
Everybody shop I go to pays more for sterling than 40 halves nuff said Comment from : JT Cigars |
Dealers want to pay less than Spot for 40 Also, they take out the same room as 90 in the safe!😉 Comment from : Richard LaDow |
