I was buying painted silver eagles and soaking them in lacquer thinner Didn't hurt the silver, and there are no pits to uncover in uncirculated bullion so they look great Do have some interesting toning only on the field Would not do this to real circulated coins Comment from : Uncle Fester |

Very true that prices vary by dealer location and reach of e-commerce sites, whether auction houses or the large bullion firms I empathize with a small dealer balancing the need for inventory and risk of carrying the cost of that inventory When it comes to the most commodity areas of the market, there are systemic challenges competing with e-commerce brbrI ended up selling a couple of common slabbed double eagles and a small quantity of ASE to one of the big e-commerce firms after failing to find a dealer at local coin shows who would pay anywhere near greysheet The scale and reach of the e-commerce firm allows them to post real time buy prices that are competitive at greysheet, with instant price lock and an easy shipping processbrbrVery different for numismatic coins, where unique characteristics and eye appeal determine pricebrbrThanks Daniel for your insights Comment from : MarkB |
