!!! the interests part was rlly relatable for me!! its not as frequent anymore, but i definitely went thru hyperfixations that would last a couple months and consume literally everything in my life when those subside, i usually end up feeling kinda bored n depressed about it, so i fall back on old ones ive had for most of my life! for me, thats mainly pokemon, which is super convenient too because around the time that im bored of my hyperfixation, theres usually a new pokemon game to latch onto Comment from : ♡ spades ♡ |

Ihonestly cannot express how much this all makes sense to me I've always felt like my brain was at constant war with itself and it's pretty much destroyed my life at this point The irony is that because of my struggles, I lost my job and no longer have the insurance for professional help to get a proper diagnosis Comment from : Wumpler64 |
I've always said that I'm a social introvert I don't want to talkI even avoid people who I like, to avoid conversation However, if a friend gets me to start talking, I don't stop Just after graduating from college, I was diagnosed with ADHD It's all gotten worse as I've aged Recently, I mentioned that I thought I might be on the spectrum to my dr because I am acutely aware that I'm extremely different from other people, socially, and she dismissed it Comment from : Planet Martay |
I've definitely felt like this It's always felt like I've never fully related to people that were either or I always wondered if I could find both but when I looked I could find no professional literature about how someone with both will present Going in to a doctor with well random internet people say they present like me and have both doesn't exactly help much I tried to do the only testing I could afford at a sliding scale place but was told I made eye contact and showered so I wasn't autistic just adhd It didn't matter that I was looking near his eyes and not actually at them or that all the video chats I didn't in fact shower and my hair was a mess It was just the testing in person that I did because I was given soap from the guidance counselor as a kid and have heard plenty of people be made fun of over and over for not showering I can barely manage it sometimes but I'm not such an idiot that I can't remember people being made fun of for going into public like that I really wish more research was done and that there were resources for adults and not just children People don't cease to struggle with these issues because they turned 18 Comment from : Lillian Bonvallet |

I just found out this year I'm ADHD n I'm 41 So I literally spent half my life not knowing Mainly also growing up I had the kind of mom that be in denial about anything that wasn't extremely obvious such as depression After seeing this I wonder if I could be both ADHD n autistic I like being home but I don't get bored because I love working on my art Watching YouTube I love to crochet it keeps my fidgety hands busy because I like to constantly f***ing with something like clicking a pen or something but I don't care for fidget toys Thank you for this video I'm gonna ask my doctor about this too Comment from : Yours Truly |
I know myself from the inside so I suspect I have both I am also more analytical and intelligent than the average bear so I mask well I cope but imagine how high I could fly if I wasn't trying to dribble and make baskets with a footballbrbrMaybe all people have issues like this Everybody's got their own scarseven people who look like they don't Life's a wild ride for everyone Comment from : Mary Patton |
I definitely think ADHD is more commonly diagnosed and not just more common Almost all of my friends are neurodivergent, most of them have either ADHD, Autism or both "AuDHD" as we call itbrI have gotten surprised reactions from a lot of medical professionals when I tell them about how many overlapping symptoms me and my loved ones notice in ourselves and eachother It really is like speaking a different language than neurotypical people Comment from : Griffy T |
this stuff is so stressful and confusing Comment from : evilface2021 |
For everyone who also struggled to pay attention:br1 1:56 Constant conflict between apparently contradicting traits br2 2:44 Your traits might appear to balance each other outbr3 4:06 A larger variety than usual of special interests / hyperfixationsbr4 5:53 Different versions of your traits emerge in different situationsbr5 6:57 You relate to people who have a dual diagnosis themselvesbrbrYou are a beautiful person and anyone would be lucky to have you in their life <3 Comment from : Em Caudew |

Oh, my It might just be me, but I wasn't able to concentrate on what you were saying at all with the green rings of your light rings reflecting and bouncing all around in your glasses ADHD me is gonna turn back on captions (don't know why they are off LOL) and try again Comment from : Tara Bueche |
This seems very familiar to me I got my diagnosis when I was 30brBut although I might have ADHD as well, is there really a point in getting a diagnosis considering I am already eligible for habilitation and other help due to my autism? Comment from : Jan-Olof Helm |
I'm diagnosed with autism but not with ADHD (I want to get tested but can't for reasons outside my control), and I've noticed myself relating a lot with ADHD culture online and multiple people who are diagnosed have looked at me and said it's very likely that I have it, and w o w I relate to this whole video- Comment from : Carver Ze Derp |

I was diagnosed as ADHD at 34 years old I also am seeking an autism diagnosis I was pretty sure I was adhd but had no idea autism was a possible until I started working in ABA and was exposed to a wider variety of people on the spectrum, as well as researching for my son who is diagnosed ADHD but I think may also have autism brI can relate to Soooo so much of what you described in the video Comment from : Shelly Fuquay |
"one obscure or weird topic their whole lives"brbrPoisonous plants, since I was 9 I'm 56 Comment from : BrigidsBlest7 |

I have never related to a video more than this I feel relieved because the conflicts and chaos in my brain/life causes me a lot of confusion I genuinely thought there was something really not right with me and that no “label” fit me right which makes me feel like I can’t fix or narrow down my issues Comment from : Johnny Twinkletits |
The part of varying special interests really hit the bullseye for me It's also been a big source of frustration for me, especially with creative obsessions, because for a time my mind would be flooded with ideas on a given topic, and I might even start working on it, and in the end end up with nothing finished, feeling inadequate in many waysbrbrGreat video! I went into investigating whether I have adhd in my early 30s, and came back with an autism diagnosis I've recently been wondering if I might have both after all, and this was very helpful in pondering that Comment from : Esa Karppinen |
Yup all of this Comment from : Nik Lin |

Green light in your glasses is taking my focus off your words Comment from : Вася Иванов |

I feel like you're speaking directly to me, I have not had a diagnosis but recently I came to suspect that something might be different in me and not other people Really strange feeling of how you managed to sum up what I feel and I've never met you, I've been pretty much quizzing people to tell if what I think or how I think is normal but maybe a professional is the right person Comment from : Serra Kamanga |
Great video Really The reflection of the ring light on your glasses though… 😅 Comment from : head2tomek |
I think this is why I questioned if I had ADHD or Autism at all because neither diagnosis 'fit me' Comment from : chocoboasylum |
Honest question for someone over 40 Where do you even begin to get diagnosed for this? As someone who has been under psychiatric care for 25 years I'm growing increasingly frustrated in finding anyone willing to start from scratch and diagnose me properly now that my son was diagnosed with Asperger's The more I learn about his diagnosis the more nothing and everything makes sense but I can't find a medical doctors to take me seriously Comment from : STL_KC_ US |
I’m like:br90 I don’t have any diagnosis but can relate to all this You’re just describing the human conditionbrBut also:br10 Maybe I do have these two conditions and am just undiagnosed? Comment from : Will Baker |

Sorry but that fkin green circle in your glasses is so distracting Didn't even get 30 secs into the vid Comment from : Brentwood |
I am absolutely stunned right now by this video Like so many others that have commented here, your video really explained a lot I've carried with me over the years!! Thank you so much for making this video!! I've never been diagnosed with anything but major depressive disorder, and only recently discovered that's actually a symptom of ADHD But I've never been tested for ADHD nor autismalthough my mom apparently did have me tested when I was quite young, and the doctor told her to just raise me as if I was "normal" (we're talking mid-late 1970s here) Soshe did! I don't know if it was beneficial or not, lol I do carry a LOT of frustration as a 50yo woman, and pretty much everything you described in this video is me!! Anyway, thank you for making me feel less alone!! Great video!!!❤️❤️❤️ Comment from : Sarah Apsey |
So many people are diagnosed as ADHD that there is quite a lot of overlap with many other conditions A similar over diagnosis is done with bipolar disorder It is a handy catch-all when they can't figure out what's wrong Just hand out speed and mood stabilizers to everyone kind of thing If you got the wrong one, swap with your neighbor The overlap between Autism and ADHD is largely in the minds of the people who have neither condition I have ADHD, when I take any medication designed for ADHD, I do not speed up and get massive amounts of work done like the 80 of people who take the same medication for ADHD that do not in fact have ADHD In order to mimic one or two of the symptoms of autistic behavior, I would have to be taking 100mg a day of Strattera when the working dose to get rid of my ADHD symptoms is closer to 40mg ie if you take enough medication, you can mimic a great many disorders Btw, if you are out there, and you are in fact taking 100mg of Strattera and it's not fixing your ADHD, you don't have ADHD If the only thing that fixes your ADHD is speed, you have addiction withdrawals, not ADHDbrps The reason we have Psychiatrists and Psychologists is that they perform entirely different jobs which, much like autism and ADHD, have very little to no overlap except in the minds of people who are neither Comment from : Aries Mars Express |
Asberger's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis my whole life 💙 Comment from : Edgeton Wolfe Drezwellington |
All of them I have always consider myself awkward especially social anxiety in public and needing to be physical most of the day as well as sensitivities to lights and sounds in artificial environments When I get into a project it is intense and I can’t shut down I always thought I was different but the older I get isn’t everyone or maybe it is just friends I keep I have never bothered with a diagnosis, what would it change anyways, we just learn to adjust as we live our lives It’s okay not to okay Comment from : channelseeker7 |
So, any doubts I had that I’m both have now been squashed You just described sooooo much of my lived experience it blows my mind Comment from : Nics |
Omg yes This is so me My autistic self keeps my adhd (or add, I’m not sure which I have) self ordered My adhd friends are too much for me but I am too much for autistic folks I’ve always felt like a contradiction I can be v loud and chatty but I am an introvert It’s all v paradoxical and confusing haha I def have special interests I’ve been obsessed with and kept for a big chunk of my life But I also have trouble sticking to certain things that I love to dream about doing I will make time and regimented order in which to accomplish them I say to myself but actually doing that is hard since I struggle with time management much to my own extreme frustration ! I am definitely more empathic than straight up autism although find I can at times find emotions to be both out of reach of on the one hand (numbness) and simultaneously hard to manage in myself when I feel deeply/ get over stimulated… generally I can get along with people on the spectrum well I think I also have some kind of spatial issue to make things more fun Body awareness is something I’ve built from yoga & mindfulness But the discipline I used to have im finding hard to sustain now I’ve learned much of what there is to learn which hooked in my autistic self so my add self is struggling to maintain it Comment from : Rose S |
I found everything in this video 100 relatable! Both of my daughters have ‘official’ dual diagnoses but I only have ADHD because I was diagnosed in my mid 30’s I’ve asked if I could be screened for autism as well but there are only 2 specialists that can screen me in MY ENTIRE STATE Any advice to help me with this would be greatly appreciated Comment from : Carrie Scully |
I have ADHD Idk about autism I have done a test for PDA and autism and scored high on both But I think that's just because I have ADHD lol It's a strange concept to internalize Me being autistic I don't believe it, even though it feels kind of right I feel I'm hesitant to consider that potential as a reality, because I feel like I'm belittling people with ASD diagnosis, who have a hard time, and that I just have ADHD and am being a hypochondriac But I just really struggle talking to people that aren't ADHD/autistic I need to better understand autism first, and probably spend more time around people on the spectrum before I decide how likely it is, and whether to go about talking to someone about it Comment from : Monkey D Robin |
I am very extrovert but I don't like people Maybe because like the Accountint I forced myself to go out in crowds People think I am sad because I closed my eyes and just listen to the music when I am having a good time at a club Comment from : William Morgan |
I love how a video for adhd has two green circles flying around the screen while you’re trying to focus XD Comment from : Jonathan Murray |
Diagnosed with ADHD at 14, 42 now most meds, counseling, and tips and recommendations never fit Therapists never seemed to get the point and most advice always felt patronizing and useless And no behavioral changes ever helped outside of the 2 week hyperfixation window Only in the last year have I been really connecting the autism dots and they're hitting like a ton of bricks and causing me to re-analyze my whole life Everything you mention here is spot on, and it also makes me think about autistic traits that were there from a young age, like the fact that I never babbled I didn't make a sound until I could speak in complete, well dictated, grammatically correct sentences I hated hugs, especially from strangers and ESPECIALLY from people in costumes (get the hell away from me Mickey Mouse) and all kinds of other awkwardness and obsessive tendanciesbrbrI really want to look into getting an official diagnosis because I feel for the first time in my life that I might be able to get someone to understand me when I say "that doesnt work"brbrthanks for this Comment from : treschlet |
I sent this to my therapist so we can talk about it Just she and I, not me and the Internet Comment from : Tere Fredericks |
I actually do have both And your kinda wrong Hdhd doesn't exist in adults if you dont have autism, add which is a common misconception I've done my own research and experienced it And honestly I'm getting tired of people just lumping adhd on with add They are two different things I hope that helps Ask me questions if you want to know more from a person that is both and extremely intelligent Comment from : Justin Tench |
All five!!! Comment from : Gina Librizzi |
Why is there a need for people to convince themselves they have ADHD or Autusm? I guess these things have become Trendy It's really disturbing!! Comment from : Delilah |
I love order and calm but I can’t make it happen Comment from : Wiccan Moon 🌙 |
