I've been looking for this video for so long I found it! My 2 year old 100 has adhd, I would like to learn how I can help him I really don't agree with medicating children with psych drugs, unless they are actually unable to function without them (like go to school, make any friends, freaking out all the time, not enjoying things or participating at all or learning, etc) It's not that I don't believe that meds can be helpful, I just don't think they know enough about developing minds, and I worry about the consequences of that If my child is bright and engaged and happy, I don't want to medicate them so that they are more manageable I also don't want my child to get hurt because of making an impulsive decision, it seems like people who have adhd are more prone to injury because of the impulsive element Anyway, so glad to finally find a video that I really relate to I just want to get ahead of the issues that I can anticipate Thanks so much! My MIL believes he might have autism or sensory issues, but as someone myself who has ADHD it sounds soo much like I was and his dad had it too He’s very social and makes plenty of eye contact He has no autism symptoms even though she swears he does I know in my heart he has ADHD and his Dr didn’t seem concerned about Autism in him at all Comment from : now1994 |

As a father, I'm at work most of the time and I don't see my kids around other people much let alone seeing other kids When we started doing Saturday morning sports It made me cry and I had to go for a walk, seeing other children who were compliant and listening My son can easily breakdown and cry, he doesn't understand personal bubbles and can therefore easily annoy other children Friends for him are hard Comment from : xcvxcv |

Last year I went to the beach with my son We met a boy the same age , my son and him were playing together The mother says to me: “my son has ADHD I hope he doesn’t wear your son out” After four hours of none stop running and playing, the boy with ADHD was curled in a ball on his mother lap exhausted My son was jumping up and down having a tantrum because he still wanted to play My same son who hasn’t had a day nap since he was about eight months old My husband refuses to accept anything is wrong because apparently he only acts hyper around me and it’s me making him like that Comment from : Shana Haim |

I felt the same way about medication for 4-year-olds, but I think it can be helpful starting at about 4th grade That is when teachers start expecting kids to be less impulsive and more able to focus regularlybrThe way I see it is that we are like left-handed people living in a right-handed world If there is a medication that can help my neuroatypical kid manage better in the world/systems built for neurotypical people, I'm going to let him use it He doesn't take it on school breaks or weekends because he only needs it when he's in a situation fitted for neurotypical people He and I talk about our brains and our medications and why we use them (nothing wrong with our cool brains, but the world is built for the majority whose brains work differently) My kid also uses other helpers like fidgets, lists, timers and alarms, mindfulness practice, and coaching We used our time before fourth grade to work on using those tools and skills so adding medication was like power-boosting everything we had already accomplished so that he can be successful He still has days that are tough but the medication really does help him and medication helps me as well If he didn't feel well using them though, we would take him off but he is on a lower dose than many other kids, which the doctor thinks is due to the way I taught him to manage earlier in life Comment from : Nikki L |

I have Asperger's and have seen the power a label tends to have on your life first hand I have a 4yo daughter who to me seems to have some signs of it but I'm not going to impose my bias on her For now she's just a normal 4yo with her own quirksbrbrIf there are some behavioral issues or it's clearly interfering with her ability to get along in the world I'll bring it up with her pediatrician and start offering guidance that I would've found useful as a child that I never got because my caregivers couldn't understand Asperger's well enough to even offer it Comment from : Ethan B |

The best way to control is it is through food Eat more vegetables and whole grains Avoid processed foods and sugars Our brains are firing on all cylinders too so this gives it some more room This gave me a huge boost over years I am 27 now Also try to exercise 1 hour per day Comment from : AndrewLifts |

Hi there! My 4 year old boy is the most severe case of ADHD I have ever seen and he has not yet been diagnosed It is exhausting how impulsive he is and I am struggling so hard While researching ways to help him I am also feeling like I have probably had adhd since I was a child but have never even considered the possibility Do you have any tips for me to get through the diagnosis process? Comment from : Alicia McKnight |
|
Took 3 hours to watch this with my 11 year old son Yelled 6 times to pay attention and many bathroom breaks Even a dinner break But this helped him a lot and will watch it again tomorrow Comment from : Brittney Griggs Martinez |
|
I have a 4 year old nephew who has all the signs of adhd and up until now I always wondered what was going on with him His mom has never mentioned it and hardly ever questions his behavior, she basically has made peace with the fact that he’s hyper and doesn’t give any consequences for bad behavior episodes which makes it really hard to be around Hopefully they soon seek help &/or make a change because he has a baby brother on the way! Great video So informative Comment from : Hardlyheaven |
|
Most kids are like that at that age by nature and can remain like that for years if their parents don't raise them properly With time and limits they start behaving as a neurotypical teen That's why it's not advisable to diagnose them so early let alone medicate them Comment from : lyvsix |
|
Toddlers are obsessed with kinder eggs 😂😂😂 Comment from : Just Joy |
|
Just to add some perspective to this, in the categorization system I'm familiar with, "ADHD" is the opposite brain type to "ASD", so you can't have either hyperactivity nor "attention deficit" in someone with an Autism type brain, which is hyper introverted Of course behaviors are effects of brain types combined with environment, not brain types alone, so all behaviors are seen in all brain types, depending on what the environment is doing to the brain Which is why we don't use behaviors to categorize brain types in my work and instead look at preferences (what the individuals naturally most want to do for normal work/play when allowed to choose from a highly enriched set of options/environments) Comment from : thewiseturtle |
