It is great the way he targets car culture as a huge key problem Middle class people believe that what they drive expresses who they are and their status That is the direct result of successful marketing, not anything close to truth If we could handle driving a modest car bought for cash, all that ridiculous monthly car payment (that ppl believe is just a natural part of life) could be invested in savings We live for our cars, in our cars, eat in our cars and live an hour away from our jobs in ugly suburbs It is messed up On this he is right Forget early reitrement, just try attaining debt-free financial health as an attainable goal

The best thing money can give you is not possessions, it's security I save 50 of my income and have 6 months expenses saved I'll be able to retire at 35, but if my workplace becomes unbearable I'll be able to just leave and find a new job without worrying about the bills
Comment from : Char

Hai Li
starbuck, new car chasing, eating out, new clothes often are the costliest expenses but one can eliminate them all as i did i don't spend a dime for those stuffs
Comment from : Hai Li

Phillip
The problem with this idea is a deeply flawed one True, if you lower the expense, you save more, and you can use your savings to work for you This means living a more frugal life style brbrThe problem is this only deal with expense function What one can do is maintaining the same level of expense, while increasing income via value creation VALUE is a much more powerful ideaUsing value to generation income
Comment from : Phillip

blokes
In my opinion, early retirement is a gimmick Find a purpose in life Why do you think the richest people keep on working? I actually calculated when I would have enough money to retire on and I would be in my 40s But I would never quit because I love what I do I would eventually get so bored if there wasn't structure in my life
Comment from : blokes

IronSolid
Spending less than you earn Simple but effective It's not really retirement it's just a lifestyle Financial freedom is the ability to live your desired lifestyle from your personal resources Debt free - is the only freedom in this country The prevailing philosophy from the top of the government on down to our universities is "debt is good" Debt is modern day slavery and it doesn't discriminate

'Less driving and more biking is key to the moustachian lifestyle and likely one of the key differences between their lifestyle and yours' I don't own a car and cycle 12,500 miles/year Cycling rules! But I'm living proof cycling can become a financial burden once you reach a certain mileage: replacing worn parts gets expensive!
