Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1 Very light2 Solid quality build3 Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected4 Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1 Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day but not a big deal I replaced the tubes2 Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes3 Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly The lowest setting is too high The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off)4 wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

Also regarding pros hiding data, it ensures their rivals can',t base a race strategy to pick on their weaker points If you know your rival is great at short climbs but fades on longer ones or has trouble facing change in pace often, that's how you can attack them

My road bike is even older than the Trek Madone, a 9-speed Scott AFD 709 and the most expensive thing I replaced were the chainrings and cassette It was fast enough for my only KOM on Strava, even though it's only a short sprint

All 3 of them are nicer than my 2010 Trek 1000c Of course, my idea of success at 64 years old is to persist on a regular schedule and watch the data, which helps to keep me interested and engaged My peripheral goal is better fitness, but getting stronger, faster, and smarter is my main goal This was an interesting video, and my main takeaway is the importance of bike maintenance To date, I have never dropped a chain, but my bike is maintained well Thanks for this video!!

Obviously most normal people are most interested in the $500-1,500 price range for bikes That’s a solid range to get decent quality build and components for a normal working class person who is relatively new to cycling and/or only rides bikes for a bit of fun and exercise brbrThe types of guys who show up for these races will almost always be riding bikes which cost $2,500-6,000+ and they take cycling very seriously

I bought a TI Raleigh Europa racing bike back in 1983 for £200 when I was a teen and had no concept of the price of things and in my mind today that's still how much a decent bike costs! I would love to get road bike! I cycle everywhere, everyday in a quite hilly place, so I guess I'm fairly fit I only ever owned the cheapest second hand bike though Would it be possible to get something decent for like 150€ to get into road racing as a "poor student"? Maybe build something from second hand parts?

There's no reason you can't get 20 year old Ultegra components working perfectly In fact, I'd wager you'd get much better/more consistent performance out of 20 year old Ultegra than brand new Microshift Just because your bike is second hand doesn't mean it can't be in perfect working order; it can and it should (In a race context doubly so, for your own performance and for the safety of everyone around you!)

Man, I have a triban rc120 and it is a very good bike I have changed quite a lot on it over the years, but it's still going strong Here's what I changed on it: Fizik Antares r7 saddle, Claris crankset, xtr bb, Conti 4season tyres, mavic aksium wheels, 110mm stem, and some nicer platform pedals

I have a scott speedster 10 (2022 model for 2000 but with accessories like Garmin and Garmin things like wattage meter and hart rate meter it's 450 so 2500 euro's) and I dropped someone with a TREK that was probably 6 or 7 times the price off mine

My 2006 (NOS) and 2007 (used) S-Works Roubaix frames bought in 2008 and that I set up with Campagnolo and alloy rims will see me out At 71 years old, I am not interested in technology that I cannot maintain at home, but with new tech overpriced and constrained, and old tech replacement parts getting scarce, I am between a rock and a hard place I seem to see as many mech/chain problems on 2022 TdF and other races as in the Aughties, and I have no doubt the "old" Trek and Pinarello drive trains these guys raced could be tweaked to perfection I agree with the suggestion that a $500 bike with $500 upgrades would be a good video, but upgrading older bikes will run beyond $500, I suspect

Usually you can save more watts on the person than on the bike get fit, lose weight, try to get into a more aero position it will be much more worthwhile than an expensive "superbike"
