I'm not at a Calvary chapel right now bc it's too far and awful trafficbrBut I'm in a good Bible preaching church that teaches verse by verse And does alter call and believer baptism It's a very good church and 10 minutes away PTL I'm old now and can't be involved if I'm an hour away

Calvary chapels don't believe in speaking in tongues during church service Pastor said holy Spirit doesn't interrupt himself and they don't allow it You will be asked to stopbrI don't have that gift or pray for it If God wants me to have it that's fine I think it's the least of the gifts

Didn't know Winger is from Calvary Chapel But that definitely explains his "I'm totally politically neutral Now let's only interpret the Bible through an obviously conservative bias lens" attitudebrbrI like what he has to say about the witnesses because his knowledge of their inner workings is so in depth, I feel like he's an ex witness now true Christian But beyond that, he might as well be JimBob Duggar with his views on gender roles within the church I lived that, as a girl growing up as one of jehovah's witnesses I won't join any group that wants strict lines drawn for what's expected of men and women

Pretty much the whole sytem of Christianity has become degraded in the United States brAs believers in Christ we all should abandon all the denominations and those so call free groups and return to the living God and meet from house to house without taking some name! If you live in Boston- meet as the Church in Boston (ie- the Church in Galatia, the church in Thessolonians, the Church in Ephesians, ect The Church in Mobile Alabama, the Church in Tacoma Washington, ect All believers being equal not having the same sytem Catholicism Return to our first love , the Lord Jesus Christ Himself! With all the believers functioning not just one person who only builds up himself! Go back to the word and the beginning! May we all aspire to be Philidelia!

I love my Calvary Chapel church Our pastor is deep, compelling and completely biblical The only point I disagree with is the pretribulation rapture view, which I believe is a dangerous stance, basically escape mentality vs endurance, a whole discussion in itself But after exploring many area churches, I have been blessed with the depth of teaching and the warm fellowship at Calvary Chapel

Chuck Smith wasn't pre trib : He was POST trib br Biola University wouldn't have him speak for a long time because of this and also his view of tonguesbr One of my track teammates at Biola University was Jon Corson who became a Pastor in CC and at some point became the Pastor at the main church in Costa Mesa after Chuck Smith died

I've been to many CC's and belonged to several in 30 years and never once have I heard them say "speaking in tongues may be evidence of salvation"I finally left CC because of their Moses Model church structure Pastors really have no accountability and many are put in pastorates very young

Calvary Chapel generally has good teaching but their church discipline is very weak to nonexistent because no one is a member This has created numerous scandals in CC such as non biblical divorces, abusers, swindlers, and heresy to go undisciplinedbrbrHowever more recently there are some that are trying to implement a system though it's weak without membership

I've attended two Calvary Chapels in the past They are great, solid Biblical churches in my opinion Typically muted worship without all the silly contemporary fan fare like smoke machines, crazy light shows, etc Strong Biblical teaching and conservative Protestant views I've since moved on to be interested in more traditional Protestant denominations but I think Calvary churches are great and would recommend them to newer believers!

There seems to be a wide chasm in theological training among their pastors Some are well trained and others have very little formal biblical/theological training As a result, some are very solid in their calvinistic/arminian blend of doctrine and others not so much I encountered a number of "former" gang members who held the title of Pastor with a calvary chapel church at a funeral While others I've encountered were well schooled in theology and would be right at home in any SBC church

I used to be CC They say they toe the line between Calvinism and Arminianism, but they do not Chuck had famously declared CC to be "Cal-minian" and even produced a white paper on the subject that examined the TULIP acronym However, if you study that document, you'll quickly realize that CC is not Calvinist in any way and that by claiming to be "Cal-minian" they only prove that they do not understand Calvinism at all From Dave Hunt to Mike Winger, they have only had staunchly non-Calvinist apologists

I attend a Calvary Chapel My parents, when they were born again, attended a Calvary Chapel and that's where they were baptized and later were supported when they went out as missionaries I was raised all over the board, depending on the best church where I was living, but I'm glad to be back at a Bible Preaching church that feels like a family Our pastor is a Jewish man who found Jesus in his teens, so it's fascinating to have all that extra knowledge when we are studying in the old testament

I’ve gone to FourSquare, Calvary Chapel, and AG I disagree with some of the more extreme views on speaking on tongues But overall I find they represent my views fairly well The AG church in particular I’ve had disagreements with their overly focusing on Gifts of the Spirit at times
