Hello, This is good information for older folks and their families Thank you! At age 84, I learned through classes that a brief daily practice of deep breathing helps me relax and reduces my anxiety, My favorite is a lengthier exhale following a normal inhale After 5 times, I start to feel myself again I do this every day Also, certain simple exercises aimed at building up one's nitric oxide 2 or 3 times a day help builds energy I hope that is helpful to some who may have not trained in mind-body work Comment from : Linda Collins Thomas |

Good suggestions but one very important behavioral change that is missing is the human connection to God that our secular lifestyle has led to The anxiety, suicidal thoughts and confusion present in old and young people is stemming from lack of spiritual direction and no amount of medication/alternate meds or behaviors can fulfill the human need for contact with our Creator Comment from : Amina Ahmad |

Dr K, Question please: Would Chlortrimiton (for allergies) be one of the anticholinergics to avoid? I take the four hour version only very occasionally if I feel hayfever coming on It is quite an old allergy medication so I am wondering if it is at all similar to Benadryl, etc and if it does affect memory and the brain in older adults Thank you for an excellent video I wish you were MY doctor! I wondered what your thoughts are about Pregabalin or Gabapentin? brbrI have long Covid, with associated brain fog, as well as an increased risk of going on to develop Alzheimer’s brbrI was prescribed Pregabalin for pain, but was NOT offered physical therapy at first I largely managed to improve my pain through acupuncture, and Tai Chi Eventually after doctors became really bored with me I was offered some telephone appointments with a physiotherapist But while I was in extreme pain I took Pregabalin because it was better than experiencing the pain But this worsened my brain fog, as well as giving me the gift of suicidal ideation I am now slowly weaning myself off this horrible drug brbrI understand that due to the very conditions I am trying to avoid (blunted cognition, dulled emotions, and generally feeling out of it) this drug is one that people choose to abuse because they want to feel out of it And as a consequence it is increasingly seen as one of the cocktail of drugs which are increasingly being seen in overdose autopsies So, generally speaking this drug is clearly a risky drug brbrAnyhow, long story short, I feel these drugs have a very bad effect on peoples cognition, and mental health as well It’s only now that I’m starting to introduce cold showers to my routine that I have any sort of pleasure and spontaneity in my life brbrI hope eventually doctors start to understand how harmful they are, and support patients by offering alternatives Being given them has left me with a strong aversion to modern medicine brbrThank you for this video Comment from : Ann Westcott |

You specifically mention zoloft & celexa as good for seniors who need an ssri Only 6 weeks in at low dose (5mg) + 2 weeks up to the usual 10mg and symptoms are far worse I know this is common in the beginning of treatment but I'm starting to doubt if it's the right choice How long do I give it a chance?
