How could that stupid and negligent son @ 34:22 not believe his own dad when the dad said mom wasn’t getting good care? What in the world is wrong with that son that he’d ignore something that important coming from his own dad? Comment from : Crystal C |
These people are so despicable that I’m outraged and absolutely disgusted!!! I’d love to see that Granger Cobb himself one day and his own parents be mistreated and/or abused in the same facilities and see if he’d give the same response that, “its not unusual to have these kinds of incidents” Comment from : Crystal C |

The personal care home I'm in kept me from meeting with a police officer I know even that was a long shot cause the police and judge in this town aren't good people either but the security will do anything to cover up I'm sure of that Comment from : Treye Williams |
How animated and excited the CEO was when talking about the increasing number of baby boomers who would be needing care in the near future Almost like he couldn't wait for that ship to dock and the wealth they could expect to gleen!! Comment from : Linda |
ill make sure ill never have to go into one Comment from : Kathy Crawford |
I in no way condone the actions and negligence of these so called "assisted living" facilities BUT many families are so quick to place blame etc, but never take the resident home Just saying there is no amount of money that will buy love and respect for your elders Comment from : Janice Leffingwell |
Experience is how Learning day by day and actually caring The REAL problem is insufficient staff Low pay to aides bc we don't have an STNA yet have been in healthcare for over a decade and for us, we bring experience but can't get the job Comment from : NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES |

BOY IS THIS TRUE!!!! I AM A NURSE WHO WORKED AT AN ASSISTED LIVING WITH A MEMORY CARE UNIT AND THE STAFF WERE NOT TRAINED PROPERLY TO CARE FOR MEMORY CARE…I REPORTED ABOUT A WOMAN MANY TIMES THAT SHE NEEDED SKILLED CARE BUT HER FAMILY WAS RICH AND POWERFUL AND THEY DIDNT WANT HER TO GO TO SKILLED NURSING…I QUIT BECAUSE OF THE TERRIBLE CONDITIONS I WITNESSED… I WAS NOT LISTENED TOO AT ALL…IT WAS VERY SAD AND HER FAMILY WAS PAYING $7000 A MONTH FOR HER CARE!!!! I WAS SHOCKED AT THE AMOUNTS OF MONEY THESE PEOPLE WERE PAYING FOR CARE!!!! ITS VERY DANGEROUS I BELIEVE…IT WAS THE HEIGHTH OF COVID AND NO FAMILY COULD VISIT AND I HAS DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMERS PATIENTS ASKING IF THEIR FAMILY WAS MAD AT THEM AND NOT VISITING BUT OF COURSE THEY COULDN’T RETAIN THE INFORMATION I GAVE THEM…SO SAD… 😢😢😢😢😢 Comment from : Nurse Geriatric Retired |

This is ten years old Why haven’t legislators taken more action? Staff/patient ratios, for starters?? 😢 Comment from : Carnivore Champion |
24:29 I feel that this is true *everywhere* Not just in Assisted Living but in Nursing Homes too For instance, Nursing homes are not set up, nor are they capable of taking care of psychotic patients with violent tendenciesbut what do they do just to keep their beds filled and their numbers up? ADMIT THEM IN ANYWAY It drives me mad Comment from : Kagome Higurashi |
🐇🕯Do the abusers not understand that one day they will need medical care or have they taken enough money to secure their future with care workers? Comment from : dodgingbullets |
I worked at an assisted living that looked beautiful but was brutal They allowed people with severe memory loss to live in the more expensive apartments, but with little care They charged per call-light even with repeated, unanswered calls from those with STM loss Comment from : MM C |

People do yourself a favor and if you care about someone in your family, find someone who can Quit their job, the lowest income and Take Care of them at home It's infinitely cheaper and better for them Quit pushing people into these careful facilities It's the children's responsibility to take care of the parents until they die at home, grow the f*** up Comment from : Winston Sizemore |
State governments should SHUT THESE BUSINESSES DOWN!! Lawsuits are not the answer - all the remaining residents are in danger! Assisted Living used to be about accepting only those who only needed housekeeping and communal living, including meals Anyone unable to care for themselves was referred to a nursing home Period Comment from : Lesley Heller |
What puzzles me is that the victims died horrible deaths while their children, which should have been their loving caregivers to begin with, got rich Only in America! They saw their loved decondition, but did not remove them from harm's way People get depressed when removed from home and placed in unfamiliar conditions, I think the first two victims, most likely committed suicide These peope were abandoned, by families that benefited from their suffering I personally know the story of a poor old lady who's only relative never visited her until it was time to collect money from postmortem lawsuit Comment from : Corina Maxim |

Department of Aging in Wi, killed my partner! Comment from : Michael Riley |

I knew all along and didn’t bother to buy long term care insurance I will take care of my husband who is 13 years older than I As for me I rather died than go into a nursing home We have no kids and no immediate family Comment from : S CT |

Mrs Boyce's Son is to be highly commended for his Honesty, lack of Greed, true concern for others who came after his Late Mother's death The vast , and overwhelming understaffing & lack of training of what staff there is in these places is Monumental brIronically, my late MIL , and her late Husband had paid for decades into an insurance policy for "Long Term Health Care" They were adamant that they NOT be moved into our homes ( any of us kids) and instead be placed into a full nursing facility Even after witnessing the lack of care , and attention that my late FIL received, for 5 years, while she made 2 trips a day, to ensure he was fed, and had his needs met, it did not change her mind about living at home with either some of us kids, or a full- time Nursing staff Instead she ( and her late Husband ) were bound & determined that they were going to " get their money's worth" out of these policies that had paid into over the years $ 6000 a month, at home, with a CMA, or an LPN, OR RN, would have made a world of difference as far as the care they would have received brThis situation with BOTH Assisted Care living places, AND Full Care facilities is only getting worse, as these places have become " dumping" grounds for the infirm elderly, whose families are either ignorant as to what takes place in the way of care, OR the justifications they make for placing a loved one into these places , thinking they will be well cared for, and they ( the grown children) can go on with their lives They tell themselves that as long as they are checking on their parents regularly things will be addressed and taken care of Nothing could be further from the truth brAnother thing , that was never mentioned in this Documentarythe rate of suicides amount those diagnosed with any type of Dementia, or ongoing medical issues, BEFORE the patients lose the ability to carry out what they seem, is a far better end to life, than a long drawn out suffering at the hands of people who are essentially strangersbrThis whole issue is something that needs to be addressed by regulating & oversight committees, as well as families who continue placing elderly loved ones into these facilities The self- denial that starts at the top of these corporate chains, clear down to the families who trust the care of their loved ones to be carried out by these huge money making machines is horrid Comment from : Renee T |

At the 23:00 mark, "That was one where we actually followed our procedures" Yikes Comment from : rockymountainsmom |

Yes Isee it right now,my husband is in a place for Alzheimer’s it is 1 yrsago he is going down hill they give him pills to calm him down and the people who work spend very less time, and Ithink they are hired people with no trainingThose places are no good, don’t trust those places Comment from : Jeannette Schouten |
Senior care should be done by the Federal Government and paid by the government All of us will get old someday and get frail and sick People who worked hard for 40+ years (in any types of jobs) really deserve to be cared for free of charge when they need it Just by raising the income tax (and other appropriate taxes) slightly will cover all the expenses Comment from : Bárðarbunga, Iceland |
I hope I never end up in one of those death homes Comment from : Samuel Jaramillo |

Wait Wait…WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! Did this man, “Granger Cobb” just blow this family off with a half AS$ excuse because the employees of one of “HIS” nursing homes didn’t do their jobs that they get paid to do? That’s why they are in that business…that’s why they have nursing homes, right? So this is what families pay for? I think he should have taken a little more time to think about what this did to this family and instead of making excuses, get some action plans going and start holding your company accountable I’m sorry but if this were my family, I would not let up until changes are made Scream that from the highest mountain!!! You can’t sit here and make excuses for someone loosing their life!!!! COME ON!!!!!!! Comment from : Kay Tate |

Wonderful story Please don't feel bad about your Mom You are HONORING her spirit and she can feel that vibration where ever she is The love will fill her heart right now! And YOURS! :) Comment from : Mary Dobson |

My mother is currently the Power of Attorney for their elderly neighbor She’s nearly 83, her husband killed himself last May She’s in the early stages of Dementia as well brbrHer “daughter-in-law” just got caught stealing over $13,000 from her since her husband’s death I’m glad my mom is POA, they’re the only family she has and they’re THIEVES! How sad!brbrAnd it happens every day 🥹 Comment from : Ryan |
Family should take care of family unless it is physically impossible I would NEVER EVER put my parents in a home They’ll live with ME That way I know they’re being taken care of, not slapped around, disciplined etc brbrIt happens more than you think Comment from : Ryan |

Have enough horror stories to fill novels as a nurse aid in assistant living Imagine what covid was like since this was filmed brWill share one experience that sups up the evil of profit over peoplebrCovid out break over 60 cases New trash cans with lids would be too expensive and unsightly sitting in the hall ways We were told to used a box with a red bio trash bag inside the residents room brWe don PPE to enter a residents room infected with covid Was told to take everything off mask gloves face shield gown while still in the room discard everything in the cardboard box with a red bio trash bag brAbsolutely no regard for resident or staff safety If caught walking out with PPE still on we got wrote up brThe cherry on the cake during that time a resident was admitted to recover from tuberculosis!!! Nursing home wouldn't admit her We were never told about her condition Funny the things one can find out on a nurse's unattended lap top I was God smacked in order to work in a nursing home you have to be tested for tuberculosis but not in assistant living Nothing was done to quarantine her No one was supposed to know Putting staff and residents in danger of contracting tuberculosis A meno from the home corporate office after the outbreak had passed we were told to use less gloves How us that even possible unless we go from room to room never changing them Can't use gloves to serve residents food anymore These residents pay 10 grand plus a month to live there Comment from : Mojo Jeinxs |
This is eye-opening, and I can speak from experience that it has only gotten worse since Covid It's a scarry future that is in-store for most of us, in the not too distant futurebrbrAloha Comment from : Henrik Christiansen |

Doctors and medical staff DO NOT care about the quality of life; at all they care about their "dealings" and "contracts" along the medical supply chain Any doctor that INSISTS an elderly patient go into a faciitly I'd immediately suspect his REAL interest in that Comment from : A MC |
No one can take care of an elderly relative like the family Keep your elderly parent at home Lord have mercy on the elderly 🙏🙏🙏 Comment from : Irene Salness |
at 43:44, richard tindall lies through his teeth those places are so scared of the repercussions when a patient falls that they don;t allow the patient to get out of bed often the beds are alarmed so that if a resident gets off the bed it sets off an ear piercing alert Thus, sentenced to perpetual bed rest, patients suffer sarcopenia and difficulty with balance - forced immobility, the antithesis of a healthy lifestyle Comment from : loupavoider |
I worked in one I would not recommend it for a frail person Comment from : Jeanette Lang |
Worked in a nursing home for two months Two of us (CNAs) to sixteen people It was a royal mess, we had no time, little help, and way too much to do to form a bond with patients It sufked ass i tell ya Comment from : PansexualPixels |

They have less staff Comment from : Barbara Langley |
Haven’t even watched this yet, but this story is exactly why I kept my mom at home until she died When you put your loved one in a facility, you’re expecting others to take care of them as well as you ‘would’ That’s not possible in my book No one loved my mom as much as me Comment from : Progress Not Perfection |
A week long relationship resulted in a baby’s death This was a woman whom didn’t want to have a baby and was forced to do so by the state Sane healthy mothers would never ever leave a child with a man they’d known for a week 😢 rip little baby Comment from : Kim |

I hope that Granger Cobb is rotting in hell Comment from : Melanie Tatco |
It is unbelievable and very outrageous that government does not care for the elders They think that by sending a miserable nonsense and useless retirement check, which is enough for nothing is enough when EVERYTHING is WAAAAYYY more expensive as we get older and older It is preferable to die than continue dealing with life, becoming a burden for the family, if any is available, causing problems and spending all the limited and not enough life savings It is very, super ridiculous Comment from : Polvo Celeste |
When I think of Assisted Living I think Of Happy Gilmore Comment from : Dildo Dealer |
Working at assisted living is like working at any high-paid corporation you have The Good, The bad, and The ugly! Assisted living AKA healthcare is a billion-dollar industry! Not many of the facility's support true needs for their residence and second of all the staff members I personally work and have done per diem jobs at multiple facilities Despite despite how everyone is treated they still managed to continue to grow! I am a new LPN and it's way better working at these facilities than any hospital that is so stressful and you get burned out quicker working at any hospital for sure Comment from : Kymberrlie Michelle Cason |
I don't trust America from pharmaceutical to care systems that corrupted and greedybrPeople needs to be educated by themselves before getting old and sickbrI will stay in my own place as long as I canbrWhen I am losing my battle to sickness,I will sell everything and move to Swiss to end my last breath by my own willbrbrWhen I had a sugery, it left me a hideous debt even with medical insurance, and I learned a hard lesson brIt made me sickbrNext time , I just fly to other country to get a surgery that will be a better option because better quality medical service will cost only 10 to 30 Mostly I will be cared with compassion Comment from : moonlim33 |
All those people who run these places should have to live there wi the same treatment that they were given to others😢😢😢😢 brAnd not having any way to pay for everything that they are getting Comment from : charlena |

You didn't see that reality, I checked my father everytime, hello you check your don😢count on anyone because it's your family member, hello Comment from : Robyn |
I used to work in these facilities, how sickening it was, how they hire people that aren't competent to have the position they have, makes me sick!! What is happening with our system, these employers just hire anyone that don't do there jobs correctly and it makes me angry because I have to clean up what they didn't do It shouldn't be this way Interview people, background check ect, before you hire people!!! Comment from : Robyn |
There is an answer to this problem brAny senior who has enough money to live in one of these places, should, instead, be kept at the home of their own children with either live in caretaking or have revolving caretakers come in to the home provide carebrThat doesn't mean the caretaker should become Cinderella and do ALL the housecleaning, making dinner for everyone and doing everyone's laundry All the caregiver should be focused on is the loved one's bath, laundry, meals, keeping the room tidy and taking them to doctor visits, making sure the house is safe for the dementia patientbrI understand that this may not be possible for everyone to do for their parent, but always keep in mind, no one cares or loves your parent like you do - as you've witnessed viewing this true life filmbrThis is just beyond sad Comment from : noelle agape |
Note to self: If I'm ever diagnosed with dementia, make sure that I don't end up in one of these facilities by any means possible! Comment from : Sandy T |
