Excellent breakdown and presentation, as always However, as a Navy veteran (1991-1997 active duty), this video made me uncomfortable Too much very detailed information for foreign (or domestic) adversaries that can put our service people and their families into more danger than our war-mongering government already has, i am afraid Loose lips sink ships, literally ❤ Comment from : Nightcrawler Ninja |

I remember seeing a documentary about america during WWII and it went into so many statistics about America's rise to #1 in economy and military but also went into so many statistics about America's logistics during the war Its got a weird name for a WWII documentary but i think it was just to make it sound cool Its called WWII in Space One fact I'll never forget is that by 1945 America ALONE had produced 65 BILLION bullets Enough for every man, woman, and child aka every human, several times over Another is how much money america made to fund the war and how much money they made selling supplies One other statistic is that just in 4 years of war America's GDP DOUBLED It also went into how they supplied 16 million US soldiers all over the world for 4 years If you love statistics you'll love this documentary It proved to me that America's secret weapon isnt guns, tanks, or planes, its logistics We've been the best at it for decades Comment from : Dictator of the Cheese! |

Socialism!brThe military is a staunchly Republican enterprise, those in the military vote Republican, Republicans are always the hawks when it comes to military and military spending, but here's the funny part: the US military is the largest socialist program on the planet--maybe you could argue that China as a nation is, if you want to argue that a nation is a programbrbrThat's a factbrbrIt is a government-funded program that pays salaries to individuals from taxpayer money and commissions products to be built with taxpayer money It takes taxpayer money to fund itself and it's operations, most of its money is spent in the US economy, but not all of its money spent in the US economybrbrIt is why any sort of fantasy about the US being a free market economy is insane and is just political bullshit for someone trying to manipulate people into given them what they wantbrbrFree market political rhetoric helps the very wealthy, because when the market is on regulated those with the most money can take advantage of it the most those with the least money can take advantage of it far lessbrbrSo every republican, every libertarian, every conservative who is pro-military is pro-socialism at least on some levelbrbrAgain, there is no argument against this fact Comment from : Jack Cade |

Something worth noting is the prepositioned stocks combined with the ingenuity of the Army Engineers, Navy Seabees, and Air Force Red Horse units in making something out of nothing in time spans that would make OSHA's safety minded head spin is one of those keys The entire US Logistics system is based around utilizing the stuff closest to the zone of interest and moving stuff forward from the US as stocks get used And another key part of that that so many fail to realize is that the US Military largely doesn't take home its gear It gives/sells/abandons it to the local government after a mission is complete This is usually done with small ticket items (trucks, HMMWVs, weapons, ammo, and things that NORMALLY wouldn't be in the headlines) But it is something that so many news agencies and politicians highlighted during the departures from Afghanistan and Iraq that militants were capturing stockpiles of American gear and using it against us Unfortunately this is SOP for the US and it really is cheaper to have a new M16/HMMWV/batch of ammo made and put into the logistics system in the USA than it is to take all of that gear back to the USA since the prepositioned stockpiles have already been refilled Wasteful? Sure, but ultimately the taxpayer would see that bill and balk at the sheer costs of moving gear So the US prioritizes moving people instead on short notice, the gear can come later Comment from : Coyote808 |

If there is one noticeable aspect of US military , asides from weapons , logistics , systems , that stands out , at least for me , is …brbrUniforms brbrThe US armed forces have the best looking and wear resistance uniforms than any other nation’s armed forces brbrThey are well pressed , fit well And if so helps most active duty personnel is fit Even in fatigues brbrI came to realize this after seen how lame dressed were Russian officers and conscripts, and Chinese officers Out of shape, cheap fabrics , and they looked like your Mall security officer brbrGerman WWII officers also had some noteworthy apparel brbrIt goes without saying , you can project yourself by the way you look Comment from : serafina costa |

Having seen how the Russian logistics system worked and failed in Ukraine, this video really reflects how proper logistics can make or break a military force Comment from : Rosaria |

The fourth button on the jacket of the marine getting fitted for his uniform at the beginning of the video differs from the rest It looks like a button one would see on a business suit instead of a Class A Service Uniform I don’t know what it’s doing there in the first place One would assume the military would pay more attention to a small detail like that I’m a civilian who’s never served in any armed forces, and I spotted it in about four seconds Would a sergeant or officer notice it? If so, what would they say? Comment from : John Soulas |

You think this is impressive, you should see what we did back when we took the Russkies seriously We couldn't very well station an entire field army (in Europe (140,000 men) permanently, but what the US had the insane capacity to do at the time was buy two of everything and equip the units at home with the identical piece of equipment or vehicle to be propositioned in Europe (back in those days they were called POMCUS) for SIX HEAVY DIVISIONS and an ACR (Technically, they planned on thirteen brigades and an ACR) That's roughly EIGHT THOUSAND tracked vehicles alone So that's not the crazy part brbrThe crazy part is the idea that you're going to move 140,000 across the Atlantic within days, get them to the POMCUS sites, into the vehicles, fueled, equipped and assembled in less than a week Anyone knows that kind of thing is a disaster waiting to happen if you try to just wing it Even if you have a good plan, unless you practice, you just don't know So EVERY YEAR, we practiced moving mass movements of personnel across the pond, starting with a division (This is all while Vietnam was going on) We got better at it, and by the end, we were moving two divisions plus a brigade or two of guys over every year in a show of force (the annual REFORGER exercise) We did this annuallybrbrAnd the prepositioned stock was well maintained In most years, less than 10 of vehicles couldn't be started and driven directly out of storage That's better operational readiness than what most Army units are able to maintain And sure as shit better than than Ivan, as it turns out brbrWe lost some great facilities in the past ten years Yongsan, Korea was a top 3 place to be stationed Dead center in the middle of Seoul, close to everything, great food, culture, transportation, everything Dragon Hill Lodge is still there Lot of military weddings have taken place there We lost the NATO beach at Camp Darby next to Pisa, Italy Damnit, the Army already made me learn two more languages, I don't want to speak Italian Comment from : RYH K |
|
Should change the name to the Department of Attack Comment from : champan250 |

Prior to retirement I served as Captain on a number of Military Sealift Command, Ready Reserve Force and US flagged civilian Merchant Vessels By and large the military logistics system works Comment from : Northern Captain |
|
The fascinating thing is that Americans go rabid if you mention socialism and yet here you have millions of people living on the tax payers dollars and even getting vacations all to support a pointlessly large military who doesn’t even defend the actual citizens( and in fact is regularly used against them ) but merely serves to enforce USA economical interests abroad So bizzare Comment from : rexlevitak1 |

I work for one of the airlines that belongs to CRAF and does a lot of cargo flying for the military Pretty impressive to see in in action Funny thing is often times we will get to a place, and passport control for that country is not available to us on the base, so as civilian airline crew, we get confined to the base for our stay, but are given nearly full access to the base facilities as guests of the Air Force These bases are like self contained American communities in another country Other than the bland tan colored buildings that often tend to look alike, the base has everything you can think of, including an American shopping center, American fast food and casual dining restaurants (Chilis, Subway, Burger King, American style diners), tennis courts, golf courses, bowing alleys, movie theaters, fitness centers, aquatic center, running tracks and jogging paths, hospital, veterinary clinic, auto mechanic, an entire American school system from pre-school through American universities offering graduate degrees (a division of the University of Maryland is one of the most common to see) Very interesting to experience Comment from : J Smith |

Wow these transportation systems sound cool, we should triple the Pentagon's budget Comment from : dogfellow |
|
5:20 or so Civil Reserve Air Fleet - I heard about that from Tom Clancy in The Bear and the Dragon, China invades the Russian Far East, US sides with the Russians, Jack Ryan uses the CRAF, Clancy had described it as a deal in exchange for financing rather than peacetime contracts FedEx is at least one of the airlines mentionedbra major logistics issue was bringing in enough bombs for the Air Force to use (the Air Force was already well supplied for air-to-air, and an armored division already in Germany is being sent in by train - the whole unit rather than solely supplies is pre-positioned)brThis is all contrasted with Russian logistics issues Comment from : Alan Gilfoy |
|
I've heard it said that the US military is a well armed logistics organization and this is the air traffic example Comment from : Alan Gilfoy |
|
I’m given to understand China’s Ministry of Transportation alone employs more people than the entire federal government of the US, so I don’t see how you get the figure that the DoD is the world’s largest employer Comment from : Riz |
