Do public employees with a pension have the option to a 401K? I thought public companies that offer a 401K matches their contributions while government employees may have a pension but they do not offer a 401K or if they do, they do not match any of the contributions That also needs to take into consideration

I know some co-workers that took out all of their DROP money and invested it in the stock market They laughed at me and said, " You are losing money " Fast forward 14 years and their money is gone and I will have $1,000,000 in the drop earning 6 in another year My monthly pension check is $5,000 plus a cola of 4 this year, $15300 a month social security I haven't had a house payment since I was 34 so I was able to save $300,000 in cash Nah, I might be uneducated but give me my monthly pension check and my little DROP money and call it a day

This was upsetting Most public employees who have a pension DO NOT pay into social security And you have a police officer as a subject and they have completely different pensions than a civilian This was not even near being correct
