I think it would be incumbent on Tesco/Retailer to clearly define, at the pumps, that certain tender is not accepted for payment Otherwise, they are bound to accept legal tender as prescribed by the relevant coinage act 1971

You have not entered into a binding contract with Tesco, so "legal tender" wouldn't come into it No shop is legally bound to trade with you, they don't even have to let you in the door if they don't want to

I would suggest everybody who is hacked off with the way gvt seems to no longer give a toss about the scandal behind the price hikes of fuel , pop over to royal mint and get yourselves some £100 coins , and we all have a national day of paying with £100 coins brI'm buying in !! Are you !! Totally legal to do this , legal tender , I did this with coffee shops when they would not accept cash , 7 out of 10 times they did , but 3 out of 10 free meals ain't bad You are breaking no laws by doing this !!

We have a Tesco’s checkout girl who is also a legal tender coin expert, she can tell by the weight that it’s not legal tender even though she’s never seen one before Im surprised she didn’t do the bite test on it She wasn’t happy anyone would think it was coming out of her pocket
