Update: the lady that called me condescending came in late last week, apologized and sold me her 1922 Peace dollar I guess she must’ve done some more research and realized I was being fair 🤷🏼♂️ Comment from : @minotcoinbullion |
I would only sell my stash as a last resort, my banker will do a loan on silver and gold as collateral I'd do that and pay a little interest than lose my stash Comment from : @robertbush8327 |
if its gone up so much that Im making a killing, I'll forego a little to keep from waiting for ebay salesbrBut otherwise, ebay it isbr15 fees blah blah blahand how much is that premium on an eagle? Yeah, WAY more than 15 lol brI'll take putting it on ebay and the 15 fees most of the timebrI buy from my dealer in town here anymore though brWith all the fake crap coming from china, its just not safe to buy anything thats not new product straight from the mint/producer Comment from : @theshitshow-em3fk |
How did I miss this one? Great interview!! 👍 Comment from : @richardmetcalf2346 |
Josh, seems open and honest And that's a great thing My local guy is the same way I trust him, and I spot check and feel like even if I'm paying a small bit more, it is a good and hopefully LT wise purchase Comment from : @davidsilvey435 |
I think many of us would like to hear a conversation with a coin shop about the recent trend of banks who are closing the accounts of LCSs, presumably, because banks do not like to hold cash on site If the trend continues, and local coin shops are forced to shut down, our stacks will no longer be liquid, or near as liquid Comment from : @bobs5624 |
Never sell to LCS Lowball city Comment from : @roybatty6368 |
My jewelry was tested and proven 22karat gold but i didn't get even 45spot by 2 local coin shops in Phoenix didn't sell, but it got completely clear that the layman is ripped at each transaction whether he buys or he sells Comment from : @faizakazmi1531 |
The woman wasn't mad beca us e he said 26 She waa mad because he's selling for 33 bucks Thats a 35 cents mark up Thats why I hardly buy or sell to coin shops They all get over They nevwr even offer apot for gold They all are 87, 90, 95 of spot Worked in one for aix months and been to several The only good thing is the transaction is instant Although sometimes a lot of them like to write checks Comment from : @lawrencewilliams6499 |
My local shops are ok to buy from but to sell to they are HORRIBLE they offered me $1 over spot for eagles back when they were selling for 20+ over spot I have graded morgans one was a pcgs ms63 you can scan the back and it says $125 and they offered me $35 yet they had $35 on their culls Another one once offered me $75 on 2 CC morgans I had they were in Good condition I sold them online for $199 and $175 I could go on but basicly I have yet to ever have an offer even remotely close enough to sell anything Comment from : @wheelman0799 |
Thanks Seeker and Scott Comment from : @rodwoods2108 |
Brick and mortars just can't compete with online shopping I have two shops in my area and as one has great people, they just can't match the buy/sell prices of even ebay Comment from : @user-mm8vw1ow1x |
I thought most all the coin dealers in Central PA were crooks until I went into a Pawn Shop yesterday? They take the spot at the bottom of the barrel, moving Car Dealers up on spot? I was a little short on my mortgage payment this month and had some nice diamond and RARE stone men's rings to get a loan on? The guy looked them over carefully and asked "how much do you want for them"? I knew exactly what he was up to but I was dumb enough to tell him? For the three very expensive rings I did not get close to what I needed, a few cents on the dollar of their total value? He said Loan or Purchase is the same price? We only buy for the gold value, not the stones? But I could guarantee you if he bought them and resold them they would be back to original value? Just like the coin dealers in Central PA depending on which side of the counter you are determines the value? Comment from : @dhhenry7558 |
Hey Google Maps is great as well, but as you are following its directions make sure you are still looking at the road, because you might end up in the woods somewhere😂 Comment from : @carlorizzo5308 |
Before I got more actively involved in the coin and stacking community, my mom was looking into selling a ROLL of ASEs from my grandpa’s estate - one shop offered her $100… for the whole roll! Thank GOD she decided to turn that offer down, even though she really didn’t even know what they were! Comment from : @NurseNumismatic |
I really enjoyed this video I thought this was a very good dialogue that people should hear if they are looking to sell Comment from : @robertb3214 |
Thanks nice listen Comment from : @joemcbride5260 |

Hey Seeker, I’m looking for some advice as to protect other possible buyers from an online bullion dealer I’m having trouble with I placed an order back on 6/23 After confirmation emails, I still have no delivery status I’ve called and emailed but no clarification as to delivery I ordered from this dealer years ago and didn’t have any issues that I recall Unfortunately, since having issues I’ve looked at BBB and Google reviews other customers recently are experiencing similar issues Do you recommend reporting this issues any any particular oversight organizations other than Google and BBB Just want to get the word out to other potential buyers On the brighter side, I’ve placed two orders with SD Bullion since this issue with this other dealer, and I’ve already received both orders! Any advise would be appreciated Comment from : @briandillon8126 |

i was on vacation this past weekend and came up short on funds, so i had to sell most of all of my consitutional silver in my collection to a local coin shop around the area most of em were common dates in various conditions i ended up selling $7 FV of dimes, $9 FV of quarters, and $4 FV of halves, including my first 1923 peace dollar for it all i got about $210, which im not sure if that was good at all i calculated based on pure melt alone should've been around $300, but i guess when it comes to selling gold and silver, dealers wont give you all of what you're expecting oh well, silver comes and goes i suppose Comment from : @BlackBird7790NWR |
Great content as always with Josh! Comment from : @ChubbyRayne |
I had 21 loose Morgan and Peace dollars that I sold this past Friday to my LCS (Coinhuskers, hi Dave) They ranged in condition from JUNK to what I would consider reasonably nice I expected to get a range in price from melt value to $30 I even expected to not even get an offer for 3 of them, they were that junky I ended up getting a range in price from $22 to $35 I was very pleased I even made a small profit on a couple of the nicer ones, and I had just bought them within the past year Have some knowledge on what you have, work with a reputable and honest LCS, and you'll be fine Comment from : @nebraskajoel7838 |
Great interview and awesome guy! Comment from : @72cmcinc |

Took a few items to see what I would get offered to my LCS 15 2016 Pandas BU in capsule was offered 2180 per coin 2021 CC Morgan OGP 174, 2021 Peace Dollar 99 Silver v75 ms69 early release 175 Gold v75 PF70 they said they already had a few, which I didn't see but it would probably be around 10k-12k Thoughts on these offers? Comment from : @gmetals |
Josh can be my “bank” as I sell some of my stack for my monthly fiat needs - too bad he is 1500 miles away 😂 Great interview- thanks again! Comment from : @SilverTruther |
I really like your videos, I find them very informative, and interesting I agree with your approach on having the right priorities prior to collecting PMs Taking care of your loved ones, never going into debt to purchase PMs, having an emergency supply of cash (which is still KING, even though it is loosing value thanks to the FED) Also check around before buying, and selling your PMs Comment from : @mandoman3042 |
Silverseeker@minotcoinbullion: Is it likely that a tranaction fee/premium would be charged when a precious metal exchange is made based on the current ratio at the time? In other words, if the ratio was 80 ozs or so silver to 1 oz Gold would a coin dealer charge a fee for the exchange? Comment from : @AkA-me-Kenny2 |
sorry sir not your best videos in my opinion/ Comment from : @jakebendel5238 |

I live in Des Moines area There are three major bullion/coin dealers One is insane expensive, and low ballers The second is mostly bullion, and very reasonable prices The third is a coin, and bullion dealer I bounce back and forth on collecting If prices are trending high I collect coins I noticed if bullion is high, it’s easier to collect lower end coins If I were selling I wouldn’t sell a lot at a time But I would feel very comfortable seeking his judgment Big coin shops have a network buying and selling He would do his best to offer a good deal He knows we are a team looking to support each other He is a diamond! Highly respect him and his family Not all dealers are looking out for your interest Comment from : @quarter-py4nr |
It can definitely be worth it to transact with a dealer at times It's more safe and eliminates most of the concern of being sold counterfeits The quick cash and ability to sell stale products that would take months to move is great too It all depends on what and how much you are trying to sell Comment from : @BrownStain_Silver |
Josh may be an honest dealer BUT not all are! There are many who take advantage of people who don't know any better Just like Josh said Comment from : @karenhansen1945 |
I subscribe to both your channels 🥰 Comment from : @201sovereign |
Will Silver drop to $1170 per Troy oz before going back up to $25-$30 per Troy oz (NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE!)? Comment from : @blessusa123 |
Love Josh shop I wish I lived closer to it… but he doesn’t ship to California 😞 Comment from : @midgetmack5344 |
There’s always pro and con to selling to LCS or privately in person The most important thing (imho) is your comfort level in dealing with unknown Buyers Selling privately is not for everyone But ultimately everyone needs to make the best financial decision that provides the best outcome for themselves Comment from : @stormforge68 |

LCS have their pros/cons, mostly cons (eg, long lines, privacy exposed, stalking) But I found a bullion dealer here in Nashua NH (OM Bullion) and the owner is awesome, plenty of free parking and PRIVACY!! Comment from : @Silverping |
@minotcoinbullion @silverseeker I live in a city that has nothing but pawn shops and one coin shop that is primarily a panw shop and am thinking of opening a shop that is fair and affordable Any advice? Comment from : @earth_born |
Thanks Josh I truly appreciate your honesty Next time I visit ND I will check out your shop Looking forward to seeing your online store and channel Comment from : @bseavers |
I like this coin shop owners sincerity Comment from : @DrDRE4391 |
The only advantage of selling your coins to a coin store is the fact that you can convert your Silver & Gold into cash immediately As long as you’re making a profit on your coins, every dollar doesn’t matter This is assuming you need the money now, and you have coins the shop wants Stick to easily convertible bullion, and stay clear of the oddball stuff, that you will most likely lose money on at a coin shop Comment from : @victorfrankenstein50202 |
I believe Josh is your best interview, great guest, honest hard worker I think I need a road trip to Minot 😀🇺🇸 Comment from : @widave3812 |
That's the only part that makes me a little nervous about silver is if ever comes a time to sale will I get close to what I put into it Comment from : @WestTexasStacker |
I really appreciate how much you update us on the grassroots, real-life silver (and gold) market I've been stacking for two decades and there are a lot of things I'm still learning from your efforts Comment from : @ultimore |
Yeah when I look to sell don't have any coin shops near me anywayz lol, maybe an hour+ away Comment from : @TWISTMYNIPZ |
I find it extremely hard to believe that people don't know anything about their coins Most everyone,no matter how ignorant they are, knows enough to GOOGLE something to see what it is selling for and to get an idea of its value Now just because they may play stupidmost people are not really that stupid when it comes to MONEY They typically know exactly what they have Thats not to say that you won't run into the occasional idiot who thinks they know more than they really do because we all know this people exist But most people know better Some just try to do a really good acting job Comment from : @CanesFan65 |
I buy only gold bars 😅😅😅😅 Comment from : @kokikoki12345 |
Why do I buy and sell at Phil's Coin Shop in Wichita Kansas Because Phil is a great guy and the money get's spent here in Wichita If I pay too much I don't care, it supports businesses here in Wichita Comment from : @TobaccoRowe1960 |
Awesome video Very informative and enlightening Thank you 👍 Comment from : @noicue8078 |
I’ve placed 3 orders on SD Bullion’s site totaling about $800 in the last 2-1/2 weeks brbrSo far I’m very pleased, but i would be happier if they shipped as soon as they received the cash rather than waiting Once the eCheck has the cash out of my account and into theirs, the coins should ship brbrIt’s a small complaint APMEX waits 6 full days before sending my coins and that’s not acceptable Comment from : @escapedfromnewyork8109 |
Pretending not to know what your stuff is worth is a good test I have used at a lcs it test there integrity Comment from : @mustangdave434 |
Great informative video ! Comment from : @snakebyte7271 |
I buy and sell to my LCS He called me about 4 months ago offering me a significant amount for some of the 90 that he sold me in the past$25 per dollar He needed this for a big-time customer He also gave me a great deal on 3 gold eagles as well as cash I sold over $130000 face Comment from : @Arturro-pk2eu |
I would like to know the difference of what these coin shop dealers have to pay for the coins when they themselves have to buy them from another dealer to what they will pay the average person coming off the street for the same coin? I am finding in a lot of cases if the coin shop is buying it from A supplier they pay quite a bit more than what they're willing to give you walking in off the street With that said how come they can't offer you the same price as they would have to buy it at If I need to sell any of my silver or what-have-you because of some emergency I will split the cost of the premium they take half I take half The online coin shops do not have a problem charging you top dollar for the silver that they know they will only buy back at either spot or buck or two over This is after they have had to pay three times the premium on what they want to give you To me to Corn shops are getting a lot worse Or should I say greedy The state of Missouri is real close to passing a law on gold and silver tender so that if you go to say pay your property tax they will give you the price that the silver and or gold is going for at that time plus the premium that they are selling it for online I'm sure that premium will be an average of many different coin dealers Let's face it you can't hold it unless you pay the premium Just like with silver eagles the premiums are still crazy Something makes me think that the government is behind this especially when it comes to the silver eagles Comment from : @Martha-op1fb |
Great guy! Wish he was near me Comment from : @go4it129 |
You buy a silver coin for 35 and the shop buy it for 19 eBay will charge you a fee and you pay the shipping plus the time to packet up and drive to the post office… maybe 15 back Comment from : @Right_Hand_Watch |
Glad to see my man Josh blowing up on sites like Silver Seeker, and this video is the main reason that he is He was telling me his buying costs before I ever asked him We both learned early that we were open books and it’s been great ever since Comment from : @brandondockter4272 |
Thank you for your comments Truly informative in a clear and honest way Comment from : @rafaelcastrejon2210 |
What I love most is that the people on this station are honest If I ever decide to sell my coins I'm going to contact the guy in North Dakota who's on right now with this show I know he's honest😊 Comment from : @cliffgriffen623 |
The town I live in we don't have a coin shop but we do have a couple of places that buy silver & gold I had to sell some silver a while back the first place I went to he offered way less than spot like 6 under I had Perth mint coins he said oh that doesn't matter I said thanks but no thanks so I went to a jewelry store they said we only pay spot so I showed them the Perth mint coins and asked if they could give me 5 over spot and they said yes so I actually made more than what I payed for them so I figured that was a win😊 Comment from : @rob7710 |
I’ve had good experiences selling back to LCSs & via Craigslist I prefer to sell gold to LCS & silver to 3rd parties due to the relative $ amounts of the transactions Comment from : @cphipps1969 |
Question - when Josh stated he paid $100 over spot for the silver rounds, did he pay his customer $100 over BID Spot or ASK Spot? Comment from : @countoftuscany6753 |
In Canada maples are going for between $38 and $40 coin shops were offering spot $30 I sold mine for $35 and sold everything I was selling in two days Comment from : @1dilligaf |
So glad you found josh and minot coin and bullion I wish an honest fair person would open up a coin shop near me ne of philly Theres one nearby shop that has usable hours of operation but they tend to always pay back of spot and try to keep at least a 6 or 8 dollar per ounce spread on 1oz items sadly Comment from : @BenBartlow |
Very good video My LCS pays $200 over spot for silver rounds Cool to see how prices differ from region to region Comment from : @bdub2622 |
Playing dumb will expose the dealer's character Comment from : @0oo00 |
I do love these conversations with Josh You guys are incredibly honest and straight forward and I appreciate you both Thank you! Comment from : @TheQuickSilver101 |
Josh is someone that I'd like to do business with Like you, he is a wealth of information Comment from : @Lee949Designs |
Pmsforsale is a great way to buy and sell I play it safe and only buy from the "Golden Sellers", and I have had outstanding results It's a win-win, as compared to selling to a shop, because they'll need to make their margin If I had a coin shop out here in the desert - maybe I'd just buy from them, as a personal relationship is best Saying that - I have bought from the same half-dozen Pmsforsale sellers, and their is a bit of a relationship now Comment from : @jduff59 |
Well i don't sell on the evilbays, i'll tell you that Mmmhmm Comment from : @user-zx4wo2wv6b |
I like how realistic and honest Josh is It's unfortunate that if you walk into some shops telling them upfront that you know nothing about what you have, some dealer's will absolutely take advantage of that And that shouldn't be the case, wether it's someone highly educated on what they have or someone that knows absolutely nothing, both customer's should in theory, get the same price for their coins That's how you know you have an honest and trustworthy coin shop Moral of the story is, do alittle homework and research what you have, know the value of your item's beforehand so when you walk in you have a reasonable amount to ask for It's also very true that if you're looking to get the maximum amount for your coins, I would agree that peer to peer and dealing with individuals is probably best But of course with that there's pros and cons to everything and only you can decide what's best for you Comment from : @JimmyLicari |
Like I brought up before the elderly with 2000 plastic Bitcoin apparently have 2000 Bitcoin and spent 100$ for them Some people are arrogant and refuse to learn (Relating to the peace dollar scenerio) Comment from : @ClintonGalton |
My LCS only pays spot for your coin, regardless of rarity or grade Comment from : @martyvanduzer9263 |
I don't want it hahaha Comment from : @ClintonGalton |

I would say bullion to dealers, numismatics on ebay Comment from : @michaelp772 |
