Unfortunately, most of these small coin shops are crooks looking to pay the uneducated consumer the least amount possible I've called MANY of these shops in several of the cities i live near The story is the same If it's BU gold they'll tell you, 'gold is gold' and premiums over spot weren't paid The one exception are gold eagles Occasionally I'd be offered $10-30 over spot (doesn't make sense to pay that $200 over spot now to buy one does it?) Silver was pretty much the same

just sold some silver yesterday - sold all my silver maple leafs which I really don't want anymore LCS paying 20x face for coin silver - I had a coffee can full of stuff that represented a small part of my stack - and I wanted to pay down my mortgage a bit76 maples, $170 face in mostly quarters, dimes and halves and 10 colorized ASEsso stuff I didn't care if I kept still - got a nice payday to knock down my mortgage a bitalso bought 2 2021 morgans from the LCS with some of that $$ - pretty happy overallbrbrgot $1 over spot for the maples and the colorized ASEs and 20x face for the coin silverfunny he made it a point to tell me he doesn't pay his typical premium on the colorized eages - which I fully expected many places locally don't want the maple leafs - so I was happy to get something over spot

My local LCS is offering spot on everything except for verified encapsulated stuff Not worth going high end at my LCS The were is some cases more expensive than online

On 90 if a person gets an offer of 20X on the phone they can bring slick dimes or truly worn coins and say well you told me 20X When I ran my shop I would ask them if it was good coins ,if so no problem w/ spotAnd if they were 1/2 dollars I could be able to pay above spotBut dealers get jerked around all the time by tire kickers too

In my experience selling some junk silver, the shops that won't tell you over the phone typically lo-ball the prices they pay for junk silver The shop in my area that I use will give me a buy/sell price for silver over the phone And depending on the amount I'm buying or selling, they may give me a better deal than quoted for larger amounts Building a business relationship is the best way to get the best deals in your area

I never sell my Gold & Silver I have been Hoarding since 1986! I did trade Gold for my House I own outright I had a LandLord who was old I gave him 160k in Gold for the Shack Now it shines like a Castle 🏰

Dealers told me they don't give prices over the phone because they are worried that it's their competitors calling so they can fix their prices But if they are not giving prices over the phone, that means you have to drive a lot and I would not want to do that With all this being said, sell privately and you can get almost retail value It's more work but it's worth the effort IMHO

Better to sell to individuals at the food court, can usually buy/sell splitting ask/buy for simple rounds and 90 And usually can agree on a buck to two over spot for eagles

Back again, checked with my LCS last week Told him I had tubes of bu quarters /franklins/and 1964 Kennedys, Was told circulated or bu didn't matter, he offered 17x spot He also had zero gold ( I was thinking he hadn't had time to load display case ) I was thinking with current spot and premiums that 20x was more reasonable This was in Ohio

I did this a couple of years ago in Sydney, Australia from coin and bullion dealers whose telephone numbers I found in an old copy of the local Yellow Pages The best price, I repeat the BEST price I got for local silver (AG A$050 & post 1946 bulk Australian) was spot -25 The general range of prices was from -60 to -33 When you go to some of these places to buy everything is "rare" and at least spot +20 Now this test is not for all coin/bullion dealers in city/suburbs I am sure that some have lower spreads and this was more than two years ago However, you stackers in the US are priviledged with the low spreads that dealers work with in your country In Australia some dealers prefer to sit on a coin for five years rather than giving a dscount

The cost of convenience is absolutely factor! They just hope you'll take their price cause you've already put in the time and effort to get there Same thing happens all the time when I sell on classifieds Buyer agrees on price, place, and time, and it's only once I've driven to meet them that they try to knock $5 or $10 dollars off It drives me absolutely insane

I get my bullion from a gold/silver exchange place For every 1 buyer there are probably 10 sellers and it’s usually trying to get rid of grandpas fake gold necklace or whatever To me it seems like the owner is always skeptical when buying stuff because so much is fraudulent/stolen/etc

Very helpful (Looking up Coinflation I need that) got a collection of stunning early 70s Kennedy Half Dollars and didn't want to sell them because I thought they were only worth 50 cents each lol Still confused about exactly what is 90 percent silver, etc but it looks like Coinflation is my go-to for research Thanks

I live in PA I called around to a few places a cpl months ago when spot was right around 27 Of the 4 places, one told me 10 under spot, one wouldn't quote me, one actually told me $18/oz, and the other was around 25 if I remember correctly My options are limited due to my location which might be part of the issue but I couldnt even get spot out of anyone 😏
