This is so true A good program but it is useless when you can't find a job as petroleum engineer after graduation It's being 5 years of my graduation, I graduated from UND in 2018 with bachelor in petroleum engineering, we are now in 2023 and still couldn't find a job as a petroleum engineer or a job in the oil and gas company, likewise with all my course mates The oil and gas companies would rather hired those with mechanical and chemical engineering degree and use them as petroleum engineers There is a high unemployment rate in petroleum engineering job and it is difficult to transit or get into another industry outside of oil and gas with a petroleum engineering degree

Hey, i am in highschool, and i was thinking about pursuing this career I am so confused , in the internet some people say it’s the highest paying, prestigeous degree and others say there will be no more petroleeum and the degree is useless Honestly i dont know what to do Will it be better if study in canada and go back to my country emirates will i be prioritized and get a job easily? Oil Industry is always boom and bust Went to work in 2010 Industry was giving $40K signing bonus’s With $150K salary’s That time they had virtually no PET Engineer’s This boom lasted up till 2015 Most PET Eng I know have been laid off Now in 2022 the industry is firing back up

After graduating in petroleum engineering with good grades when go for a job they ask for experience How can we get experience when they does not give us even internship If they give you internship its just 1 month I also highly recommend not to go for any degree related to petroleum

You are american and u also got a degree from the US , go to the middle east and u will be treated like a king,check countries like Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates there are a lot of opportunities out there buddy you need only to look closely brGet a master degree in oil and gas, it will definitely increase ur chances in finding a job brThe oil and gas market is like any other market and they are really paying well but it has ups and downs and it is really affected by the prices of oil
