When taking the ACT, while it is very important for you to feel comfortable and confident, you should not let your guard down too much According to the Yerkes Dodson Law, " Increased arousal can help improve performance, but only up to a certain point At the point when arousal becomes excessive, performance diminishes" (I quoted this from verywellmind) So this means that you need to find that optimal point where you're pretty "aroused," or energetic / keyed up but not having a panic attack Also, even if you think you are 100 prepared and nothing could possibly go wrong, and you have a guaranteed 36, do not be over-confident Think about the scenario where something goes wrong, because your tips might not work For example, You might have decided to do the natural science passage first in the reading section But what if the passage is really hard, and you don't know a single thing about the topic? You don't have to always stick to your plans Be prepared to be flexible, and try to think of some scenarios aheadbrIf you freeze too much under pressure, you might find this podcast really helpful freakonomicscom/podcast/how-do-you-avoid-freezing-under-pressure/ Not an advertisement or anything; it's just something that helped me a ton Good luck with your test You'll do perfectly fine! another good thing about bubbling at the end is that it saves you from bias, where if you see 2 c's in a row you think the next one won't be a C Comment from : Josh Burke |
Bruh God bless you for real, you're looking out and I appreciate it Comment from : Olivia Marjorie |

My school administered a “practice” or prep test, I found reading the answers would help to narrow what you’re looking for as you’re reading and working Comment from : Brinlee Spurlock |
A tip I learned is that, if you are going to wait til the end to bubble ur answers, use the last 5-10 mins to bubble in When they give u a 5 min warning, stop doing the questions and start bubbling and once you finish and have a good amount of time left do a couple more questions and guess the remaining ones (learned this the hard way) Comment from : Nihitha Vandanapu |
just took my June ACT using the reading section trick I got a perfect score, thanks Rishab 🙏 Comment from : Owenb3334 |

taking the ACT tomorrow and i nearly forgot about it LMAO i haven't studied a bit i'm gonna get good scores, though! i'm a good test taker, fast worker, and naturally a pretty smart person i'll score well, so i'm not too worried (trying soo hard to manifest right now fr) Comment from : thistle |
the tips about science are super helpful so thank you! i would recommend bubbling page by page (at least this works best for me) because my brain tends to reset every time i flip a page anyway and when i bubble at the end i usually feel so pressed for time that it takes me longer to flip the pages and fill in the corresponding bubbles! Comment from : Keeping up with the Colors |
These will definitely increase my score by a lot i been practicing and taking practice tests online and on the official Act tests and i pray to God i will get a good score this time wish me good luck 🙏 Comment from : Gurtaj Beesla |

I have actually improved my English score the most My brain is geared more toward English than towards math or science, so I figured I would not have to study too hard on my reading/English On my first test, I learned I do not know what I’m doing for math(which I expected and raised my score enough to get a 29 or a 30), I know enough science, I know how to read(only missed one on my last practice test!!!), and I forgot how to write apparently A 27 in English shocked me the first time By using this rule, I got it up to a 33 The simplest answer is usually the right answer The ACT people don’t like convoluted, hard to understand answers, they just want you to think they like the fancy sentences But when I actually looked at the sentences they gave, most of them are repetitive, redundant, and just don’t make sense I’ve practiced the English section 5 times now, and every time I was tempted to put the fancy answer, I repeated my rule and circled the simple answer Now I’m only missing about 5 questions per test(mainly because I do not and probably never will understand plural possessives) Comment from : HistoryLover |

If you have ADHD, like I do pretty severely, you might qualify for up to time and a half to take the test! Comment from : Sariah C |

It's annoying how schools give advantages to some students but make it incredibly difficult for others, like at my school they didn't give us a calculator or paper or anything to use, and we couldn't write on the other paper only on the bubble sheet, on top of that they purposely put grammar errors in the reading questions so you couldn't understand what it was asking It annoyed the shit out of me Comment from : Dalick Dismalt |

Pray for me tomorrow 🙏 I take it and I haven’t had time to study at all Comment from : Campbell Wolfgram |
Thank you so much for the genuine help! I've taken the ACT a few times by now and one of the most helpful tips is to go in very comfortable with the test itself Being anxious or fearful during the test can significantly reduce accuracy, and fear often times comes from the unknown So basically, get comfortable with the ACT! While in the car on the way there, it's helpful to just remind yourself: "I know what to expect and I'm going to try my best" Good luck to all the test takers out there! Praying for you guys! Comment from : Millicent F |

Very impressive!brI think this video really helped and I am taking the ACT TOMORROW!! :ObrbrMy tip: Bubble the same letter if you have to guess at the end I guessed all A's on my first test Do not guess C, it's too common and the test writers know that Do not bubble random letters, you have a better chance of getting more right if you guess the same letter Comment from : Aliyah44 |
