It's slow going, but that is the intended use for whatever I can accumulate in PMs I got a very late start saving as paying debts from my late wife and some other problems, but stopped buying just silver a few years ago and purchased small amount of platinum and gold, while living very frugally and working extra hours to keep up the bills I'm not so proud of the respectable amount I saved, be cause I did it the old fashioned way and worked myself to death twice! I don't know how it measures up to other funds I could've tried other funds and did, but none were as steady as the metals If the silver to gold ratio goes down while I'm alive I'd like to get more gold, but it's getting out of reach for my budget I may check into some banking trick, like a trust and buy the Dow on crashes, and go back to gold when it gets overvalued for my two sons, and their heirs for the long term cycles, to begin generational wealth and be the first in my bloodlines since the 15th century when Grace O'Malley, the pirate queen was friendly with your queen and made a treaty with her and Britain I wonder if it would still be honored, since it was a different queen? Irish folklore and Google has quite a bit of info about their relationship, but not the treaty, can you check that for me please? Maybe we could have some dinner with some cordials, and fine cigars afterwards, that would be nice lol Have a good day IS Comment from : JJ OMalley |

Thank you I enjoyed that it’s one of the reasons I love coins so much there is so many things you can learn there’s even a trick with a 2p coin that you may have in your pocket today or 2p should only be worth 2p but if you have one from the few years around 1971 they say new pence And they are selling on average between £150 and £5 a friend of mine so far has sold 840 of the thousand he has at £2 Each that is a big mark up so anybody can earn some money if they are willing to 1 learn and to make the effort Comment from : The Days of Old |

Given the Royal Mint’s involvement, I doubt this is a true market price Comment from : steven falkner |

A fascinating piece of history and an object lesson on why sometimes buying coins rather than just bullion has it's advantages Comment from : Steve Crompton |

I found an Edward VIII threepenny bit in my pocket money in 1953, and found it's bordered thrift plant and split date on the reverse interesting, without noticing that that image on the obverse was not that of George VI Unfortunately I spent itbrbrHaving taken an interest in numismatics many years later (c1965), I happened across a Seaby's catalogue On scanning through I immediately recognised the reverse image with the caption "Exceedingly rare - Guide Price £20,000" if available"brbrI often wonder how much that find would have changed my life had I realised what I had in my hand when I was seven years old Comment from : Millfield |

Full sovereigns are my gold coin of choice too But if I was willing to bid that much on a coin I'd go for an Eid Mar 😊 Comment from : Arklatex Cats |
|
I wouldn’t call numismatics a scam Numi’s can be very volatile A rare coin certainly becomes less rare as more get submitted Part of my collection lost value but averaging over time will return a profit years later if desired I would liquidate all my fiat and bullion before my numi’s My numis are a labor of love more so than an investment Comment from : halfdollar1 |
