Try Rush 2112 a Canadian band Comment from : Bill McCormick |
So this album, Momentary Lapse of Reason, is the first album that David Gilmore, Richard Wright & Nick Mason compilated after they split from Roger Waters Roger was the mastermind behind albums like The Wall, Obscured By Clouds & Animals From what I understand - Dark Side was the only album that everyone was fully involved in contributed to artistically & engineering just so & that’s why it’s quite possibly the most genius musical album of the 20th century This album (MLOR) was definitely an 80s influenced vibe It’s one of my faves Pink Floyd is the band that literally evolved over 3 decades & shedded a lot in order to create so much Shall I even mention Sid? Probably not Check out Shine on you Crazy Diamond 😉🎉❤ Comment from : Andrea |
Great song! Bought this on CD when it came out! Comment from : russtex |
There's a band name The Urge give a listen start with Jump right in Comment from : Bill Goeke |
I think the video is not about reincarnation but shape shifting I don't think the boy dies, I think he actually becomes the bird Comment from : Sgt Jdm |
This song came out the same year I was learning to skydive, and was on the radio nearly every time I was driving to the drop zone I always felt like it was a private joke with David, and wish I could have shared that with him Starting with "There's no sensation to compare to this" through to "earthbound misfit" we couldn't take our eyes off the circling skies :) Comment from : Diane Bourne |
David Gilmour on lead guitar and lead vocals is amazing! He has such a calm, soothing voicewhich was the polar opposite to Roger Waters' gritty, hard hitting, heavy vocals I love it when they switch up on some of their music Mother is one example Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Learning to Fly was after Roger Waters left the group Comment from : Decaying Divinely |
To get a good look at the band watch Echoes from Live at Pompei, 1972 brbrThat has the four members of the classic lineup This sounds different because it is a three member lineup after Roger Waters quit They performed with lots of touring musician Comment from : Miranda K |
No Roger Waters here though, as he left the band after the album before this one :) Comment from : pdxsoapopera |
Do "On the Turning Away"!!!brFollowed by "The Dogs of War"!!! Comment from : KC Stewart |

I didn't know this song, so my reaction to seeing the video was to be confused because "Learning to Fly" doesn't sound like a Pink Floyd song But Tom Petty's song with the same name that I was thinking about is a different thing It's also really good though Comment from : Rikard Peterson |
Try David Gilmore's solo ' There's No Why Out of Here' Comment from : Ricky Graham |
This was the first Floyd album after the split with Roger Waters It was an ugly legal battle with Roger claiming that without him there is no Pink Floyd A judge ruled differently and Waters started saying that there is no way they could write good music without him He was wrong on that It was good to see Richard Wright back on stage Oh, if you want some Floyd trivia Who is the only member of Pink Floyd to have been on every album they made? Nick Mason their drummer and sound effects guru Great stuff guys love what ya do If you want a really strange and out there song I recommend "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" off of their Umma Gumma album A 5 minute trip of WTF? How? Either you can dig it or not But give it a try Comment from : Scott Cooley |

The song was written by David Gilmore when he learnt how to fly a plane (one of his dreams as a child) and he wrote it around the time I did for the exact same reason which was in the late 80's After each of my lessons I played the CD "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" in my car and is my of my Favorite songs on the album In one part of the song you hear a guy talking about all the pre-flight checks I know exactly what he is saying and doing which makes me sad that I can no longer fly! :( Comment from : Franck Alcidi |

to your question about which animal well, I'm a Leo like you, Amber, but when its about turning into a soul incarnation my desire to fly would take over I'd be any migrating bird - say a wild goose PS the one album, which is a must, that you haven't touched yet, is Animals from 1987, but it contains of 3 long songs (and 2 very short ones), and 'Dogs' is probably the best of them, but also the longest with just over 17 minutes you'll have to listen to it, whether on the channel or not its an outstanding piece in their catalogue! xx Comment from : Jörn Fiebig |

This song has always reminded me of letting go, not being "grounded" All too often we're forced to be adult, to be focused on the needs of the moment, to remain grounded When I turn on this song I let go of the ground and allow myself to dream of something better Comment from : swbigfan1 |
