Dude this is so sad I was smoking weed when I was a teen and when my mom found out she had me put me into a state funded rehab facility for troubled kids where I sayed for 56 days I was discharged due to getting sick with Mono but they were talking about moving me to a more intense program that was 6-9 months because I kept getting in trouble brI felt totally abandoned I’m now almost 30 and my mom and I have made amends to each otherbrbrMorale of the story is, you can’t just throw kids away!

I’ve been a patient in 2 different mental/behavioral health institutions as a kid around 8th and 9th grade, dealing with a mood disorder and severe depression, and I totally agree with Collin about institutions causing more harm than help for a lot of people You’re not only fighting with your mental illness and emotional wellbeing, but you’re adding the feeling of abandonment on top of it and for some people it’s too much to bear and they end up broken by it I remember seeing a 5 year olds boy attempt to hang himself with a “rope” made from tube socks, he was there because he had aspergers and adhd, his parents felt his meltdowns were some proof that he was violent and had schizophrenia The poor kid was 5 for godssake, he hadn’t ever been suicidal until his parents refused to let him come home
