What is the real need for a luxury SUV? Are you really going drive that thing off road and get it dirty 🤔 Comment from : David Smith |
If one cannot afford to buy these cars new, you will be ill advised to buy them used, unless the mileage is very low and car had been well maintained Check Consumer Reports concerning reliability issues Run away from used German Cars that can cost you an arm and a leg for repair and maintenance costs You are much safer buying a used Lexus, after doing your research of the particular model and year Comment from : Anthoney Mahateva |

I would recommend to avoid any used European luxury vehicles that are past their warranty which is right when the problems start There's a reason why they depreciate so much Maintenance and repair cost is high plus they break all the time Get a Lexus or get a non-luxury brand SUV These cars are for a certain market when new and if you cannot afford to buy/maintain them when they are new it is not recommend to get them when they are getting old Comment from : carlitosway01 |
Used BMWs are great, as long as you don't mind taking it to the shop every few months to fix something for $2-4K Comment from : Cleared Hot |
Buying a 6+ year old German car is a money pit Comment from : Juan Zuniga |

Don’t buy unless you are prepared to pay high price for repair, or you are a good mechanic, I saved on the vehicle but now I am $10,00000 down in repairs, somehow 3 oil leaks, oxygen sensor, breaks and maintenance at once in one visit to the dealership my car value is not even that 2014 BMW X1 97000 miles Outrageous prices in maintenance is ridiculous! Buy a Mazda Toyota Honda or Hyundai Comment from : Eduardo Guillen |
I am glad that people are waking up to this nonsense If you buy one of these you will make you mechanic rich Comment from : Big H |
All the people that I know they told me not to buy any used luxury brands because you end up buying a headache unless you know how to fix them otherwise stay away from them! You don’t want to enjoy to fixing them it’s not cheap to fix these cars! Comment from : Romeo Trinh |

Still driving around in my 15-year-old Pathfinder with 150k miles Also had BMWs and Land Rovers since making that Nissan purchase Key word: Had brBy the way, that model year I have was before the notorious CVT transmissions were being put in the newer models (2013 and up) and also before those designs started to look like crossovers/minivans so I'm good with a reliable, rugged, ladder-up-frame SUV based on an actual 4x4 truck chassis (the Frontier) Comment from : Helder |
most of these have 70k miles already, just in time for repairs Comment from : erenix |
Cheaper to buy but way more expensive to repair Even normal maintenance is rediculous Comment from : Shawn Albright |

This is strictly for badge shoppers There are usually good reasons why they depreciate in value so much so quickly As a previous European car owner I'm speaking from experience I was willing to take anything for it just to get rid of it Comment from : NJ MTBer |
Buying any of these will see you riding the bus more often than you anticipated Comment from : Dr Keton Falloon |

Used and cheaper than a new Honda Civic but comes with very expensive maintenance costs Comment from : Noah Boy |
If you are going to go for older luxury SUV's, save yourself the headaches of being in the repair shop all the time, and spend the few more dollars it takes to get a Lexus You really do get what you pay for with them and they are super reliable, which will save you more money in the long run 300,000 miles here I come! Comment from : Drgummibear |
Be ready or pay big bucks to keep any of the cars on this list running I own one and know first hand There is a reason Lexus resale value to so high compared to the SUVs on your list Comment from : Doug Wright |
Yes very very good choices but do you think you can do the same but with very reliable brands?? Comment from : Donnie DVILL |
Yeah but you will have to fork out at least a 3rd of that on expensive repairs I would rather get a newer CR-V or even a Mazda, Kia or Hyundai than go for old, used Luxury brand if affordability was an issue Comment from : Thabo Mashiloane |
AVOID like the Plague any LAND/RANGE ROVER or Jaguar SUVs They are made by TATA, an Indian company who has good ideas about styling but NO concept of build qualitybrCadillac, all Japanese SUVs and now Korean Genesis SUVs are OK, ESPECIALLY Lexus and ACURA br*For a truly reliable "upscale" compact SUV get a MAZDA CX-5 GT Reserve or top of the line Signature True luxury with highest quality per Consumer Reports - and my own experience with a 2019 CX-5 GT Reserve Comment from : Eric B |
